PC Gamers are far too closed minded..

I think it is pretty safe to say, any time you have a guaranteed 60 million, potentially 100 million, player base, you go for it.

The cost of porting/supporting software for new platforms is far cheaper than initial development and will do nothing but generate additional revenue.

A Console will not bottleneck a scaleable game. PC will get better graphics over time and Consoles would stay the same.

Consoles are fine and have their strengths(mostly just the exclusive software), but to ever doubt that they hinder anything or that PCs are lesser for whatever reason is quite an ignorant statement indeed, and seriously, building PCs is pretty damned easy nowadays compared to when I started. It's literally just like playing with LEGO.

It's really up to SE on weather or not a console holds back development of the game. For the longest time they refused to provide any kind of improvements to the PC version of FFXI becasue they couldn't do it on PS2 and cited PS2 limitations on why they couldn't implement something. They had the viewpoint that it just wouldn't be fair to PS2 players if PC players got something and the PS2 players were stuck with the old version. Like a new UI, more inventory, higher quality graphics, better macros ect.

Later they changed their views and started releasing some updates that benefited the PC version only and working on new UI for PC only.

Games run better on PC, have a much higher ceiling for hardware specs and that means developers can give us a richer/better game in the end (and expansions). If you want to be held back then play your 1980s games on your consoles, I'll play them on my smart phone/PC with the rest of the smart people.

My thing is this, why so much hate on nintendo? I mean geez when i read about how they sold very well this week, I saw nothing but hate. It's like us the FFXIV community, we get so much hate from the outside world but we still defend this game and still be critical of it.

I mean with they say nintendo is gimmicky but all the rest of the major consoles went motion controls, hell even N64 had the stick before anyone and gamecube had the click buttons that was also copied. I mean alot of these "hardcores" have grown up on Nintendo games. I'm a hardcore zelda/nintendo fan, and i love FF, so as it should i want it to go to a nintendo console.

if you are concerned about restrictions, well with ps3 its abit too late for that, besides from what i understood ps3 will not hinder PC version.

I already posted my position in the post you TLDR'd. If u didn't care then, you don't care now and just want to argue.

I am against any and all ports of a MMO, especially this one, to consoles now and future. Ps3, they wouldn't even be doing if it wasn't for the promise they made cause they know it's a terrible idea. In my opinion we won't be seeing this game on any other consoles, maybe the PS4, so this discussion is quite over for me.

My 2 cents...

Didn't expect anything from Wii U but had a chance to play it at a friend's house this past weekend and had an absolute blast. The games were incredibly fun and the controller was super fun to use... not to mention the awesome social features. A quick comment on the launch lineup: the new Mario is savage, Scribblenauts is hilariously charming, Zombie U is hella fun, and even Nintendo land has tons of arcade like thrills. If it gets good 3rd party support I could see it being a serious contender.

As for XIV, it could make some great use of that controller. Not to mention, the Wii U has been selling extremely well so far so that means a fairly large potential pool of players.

Regardless... all you prophets of doom, sorry to burst your bubbles, but the Wii U is a really solid system. Well done Nintendo.

I'm going out on a limb here (so it's only an assumption based on what you said), but it sounds like your suffering from SE's old 'PS2 Limitations' syndrome that they loved spouting when it came to improvements for FFXI. I'd like to bring to light however FFXI was developed ON AND FOR THE PS2 then had a software wrap to port it to PC, with FFXIV it's the other way around so we won't have the same restrictions or limitations. Any limitations that might appear on the Consoles side will l likely be worked around through it's interface and not hinder the PC side at all.

Games can't be run off the external hard drive because USB is too slow. So that rules out half of all their consoles. And installing the game might barely be possible on the deluxe as long as the user hadn't downloaded anything else at all. I'd say that doesn't bode well. Playing on the Wii U would be fun, but who would do it? My PC is way more capable.

Um no? usb 2.0 runs on a max speed of 35 MB/s thats more than enough. Its confirmed you can play from usn sticks or drives on WiiU.

I would and a lot other people would, dont assume just be cause you would not its the same for others.

Dragon Quest X can play from an external hard drive on the Wii U version.

I'm playing NSMBU off an external HDD so that's wrong, just cant use an 3.0 which is still good enough to run games from.

its a wrong information. it cant be run on a SD card from the Card Slot.

From an external Hard Drive it definatley works. From all USB machines it works. so you can even use a SD card on a SD card reader with usb connection... or an usb stick to run a game from.

but well the fastest would be a hard drive

The Nintendo eShop even straight up tells you that Basic Set owners need a USB hard drive to download disc games, so yes- you can play them on a hard drive.

yup you can use a SD card with a usb Card Reader, basically everything that can be connected via usb
