At this point for an alliance raid, anything is better than 24-man dungeon that is Euphroshitte/Thaleia (also "promised ivalice difficulty" my a$$ lol). Expectation is puddle deep, yet I'll still get disappointed probably. I want to be proven wrong, pls. :/
Needs appropriate musical accompaniment. ;)
Also they even included the Homepoint crystal at the entrance! (No doubt that's a short-cut teleport for boss wipes).
I could care less about FF11 and another niche-themed Alliance Raid. Why not have FF7 raids instead? Haha, raiding Shinra HQ would be something! Or FF8, where you could experience the Battle of the Gardens or Lunatic Pandora raids, where you fight Sorceress Adel at the end. They could come up with so many cool ideas. But seriously, FF11? Big meh. The new raids just give me the feeling it’ll be another generic medieval fantasy thing, like Ivalice.
They slightly adjusted the location of the stairs next to the chocobo stable.
UNPLAYABLE! HOW DARE THEY! RABBLE RABBLE!
That looks like an elevator or something leading out to where the Rolanberry bridge is supposed to be? Maybe a ramp, but it's hard to see. Kind of makes sense since Sauromugue/Rolanberry/Batallia are meant to be roughly the same elevation but Port/Lower/Upper Jeuno aren't. Also makes sense defensively -- in the event of a Beastmen horde, turn off the elevator.
I hope these three don't end the disappointing way Endwalker's did. The last RAID was so disappointingly unchallenging. I never once saw a wipe I don't think and was playing from day 0. I gather there were wipes in the AM, but by the time I played in the PM it was being cakewalked. No skill, just "do enough of you know the mechanics 'at all?, we got a couple of SMN or RMD still alive? We do? super... lets call that GG then!"
You hit Extreeme that for the first time has challenging damage and mechanics, and they throw an enrage on top of you too. Yet for these alliance with still mediocre mechanics and damage, no DPS check whatsoever. It doesn't need much, just a Token DPS checks like in the SB alliances.
Well I guess we'll see. I just got used to being disappointed is all.
They probably will be unchallenging for me, because I'm not going to be there until people have over geared. This is not enough to make me re-sub and embark on making friends on a new DC.
If I see people raving 'massively' enough that I think they will be around for more than four weeks, maybe.
It was like the first thing I noticed thanks to AMAN Trove. I've run between those stairs and that home point plenty. :p
I assume they did it to widen Jeuno so they can fit stuff to fight in there.
The video on twitter has sound BTW and it's the Dynamis music. I wonder if we'll have a zone exploration after beating it and get the regular Jeuno music.
I think SE has missed part of the boat with this cross over.. I play FF11 and like it. I don't LOVE it, but I do like it.. The rough around the edges on how to get somewhere and do something is interesting.. it's a grind but the fact that gear I got as a level 15 or 25 is still partially BIS in some cases with some skills or spells excites me.. Makes me want to gear my character the best it can be AND makes me want to go after 'older' content (yes I know it's ALL old content at this point)
With 11 having such a mass following and 14 being their cash cow, they should have done several things BEFORE this cross over...
One, Fix that damn log in for FF11.. bring it to modern times.. I can't count the number of friends I have had to hand hold JUST TO GET LOGGED INTO FF11.... This is stupid in this day and age... I understand why it was like this in the beginning, but fix the log in so more people might give it a go...
Combine subs.. Give a discount to those of us that play them both.. It doesn't have to be a large discount, but at least acknowledge those that play them both... this discount would also increase the people willing to give FF11 a play through old content or not...
Instead they will haphazardly throw something at us and it will die off and then FF11 will be back on the back shelf. FF14 will continue to churn onward, boring between expansions like always and at some point, the users will start to leave.. then FF14 will be in the same shape as FF11. When that happens, it will be too late to fix it.
SE has trouble changing, and this will be the downfall of them... not saying it will happen overnight or soon.. but things that don't change will die.
There are too many new games coming out where the developers are actually paying attention to the users and those games will rise to the top.
I am not a fan boy of SE but I do love FF14 and like FF11, but given time even my attention will be drawn elsewhere.. There is only so much time for games and so much money for games in the end if SE don't change they will fade...
Unrelated but along the same path.. there are so many user requests that actually make sense that SE hasn't addressed... the time between EW and DT would have be a great time to make those changes... With a new outlook could have come great changes.. instead we got slight graphics and some double dyes... again it's too little too late it seems...
Yoshi P wants us to complain to him, but he is deaf when it comes to things like this..
I can't wait to see what FFXI sets they chose for the gear drops!
I really wonder if this will have the dragonborn dlc effect where they nostalgia baited to the point that I kept turning skyrim off to play morrowind. Skyrim too is a more streamlined game that doesn’t quite have the charm of the original despite being more user friendly.
Glad it’s not ff7 or 8, the former has been done to death and the latter already has Eden. Better to explore parts of a more relevant world, particularly if it’s done well and they manage to incorporate some of the traits- gear swapping in combat would be very silly here but there’s probably something that could be done. Token effects on the alliance raid gear for the alliance raid instances could be fun, a raid funny numbers aren’t serious at the best of times so someone getting a kraken club shirt or hermes’ boots shouldn’t really matter.
I'm not gonna expect much from the raid as not to leave myself disappointed. Slightly optimistic about the drops. FF11 best looking gear came from salvage/znms but doubtful we get those since isn't iconic enough. Early endgame gear were mostly hideous especially for mages except for AH items like noble's tunic.
Trailer drop.
Good news, it's voice acted.
Bad news, Prishe's voice doesn't really fit her, especially if you remember her from Dissidia. (Can hope it's a copy-cat and there's a real Prishe).
Looks like the armor sets are
The Ark Angel gear.
Which I am cool with. It looks like it dyes well too.

They just gave all these out as glamour in XI
These pics make me remember the reason I didn't pick Midlander Hyur in XIV. Way too skinny to be proper Humes. Humes in XI are actually pretty dang thicc relative to the other races, and Midlander here looks especially like he's wearing stuff a size too big for him.
Pretty embarassing if that's all they added. No actual gear from XI that people used for 20+ years.

The JP voice sounds very much in line with previous voices she's had. The English voice not so much.
The two dye channel won't be saving these, they're absolutely vulgar.
Well, if they go by the jobs that cross between the games then:
The Miqote woman is wearing the set worn by Ark Angel Mithra, which is a Beastmaster / Thief, so it could be ranged, maybe.
The Lalafell is wearing a skirtier (and I am insulted by this) version of Ark Angel Tarutaru who is a Black Mage / Dark Knight.
The Elezen is wearing Ark Angel Elvaan's, who is a Paladin / White Mage.
The Roegadyn and Au Ra for that matter are wearing Ark Angel Galka who was a Samurai / Dragoon.
Going by that, there will probably be a couple of sets that double up and get reused. Since there's the dileniation between DEX melees and STR melees now, such that we have more than 5 roles etc.
Could be, nothing really fits it job wise.

Assuming they do a weird job split I guess Tank and Healer could be EV and Maiming/Striking could be GK. Then HM Scouting and MR Aiming.
Or MR is healer because it's the girliest.
Looking at the trailer, seems this first raid will be.
First zone: Jeuno with Prishe as the boss
Second zone: Sanctuary of Zi'Tah or The Boyahda Tree, with the boss Fafnir or Nidhogg (So maybe The Dragon's Aery)
Third zone: Ru'Aun Gardens (Sky) with the Ark Angels as bosses.
Fourth zone: Castle Zvahl Keep with Shadow Lord as the boss (given he's voiced in the trailer, I assume he is the final boss.)
If this is the correct order of zones, seems a bit weird. Normally you would fight Shadow Lord way before you could get to the Ark Angels in the Zilart expansion.
It covers the base game and first expansion, there was a connection in the game for this. So we'll see if CoP and ToAU will be next raid, and then WoTG and last expansion, but they aren't as connected as base and Zilart.
Since Prishe is here I expect CoP would be last, it makes more sense as a finale. Also it's the most popular expansion.
The more I see the less excited and more filled with worry I become.
