I like how people act like it was the 6.1 SAM changes that sucked. No, it was the addition of Namikiri at the expense of nerfing Setsugekka and adding another cast. SAM has been terrible to play since 6.0 dropped.

Surely criticism does not have to result in actual change.

Anyone may have an opinion. For video games, the opinion that matters is that of the creator, not the consumer. The outcome may be a loss in revenue, but the only way that happens is if people Stop Playing.

Make a case. Be polite. Do not demand the changes you desire. Be pleasantly surprised should such changes be made.

By the way ... The theme thread (flippant dismissal of player criticism) is based on an unclear understanding by the OP, despite (a) the producer of this game does not natively speak English (b) written translations of visual media do not incorporate stage directions (c) the Japanese language does not incorporate typical North American sarcasm.

I think people are spoiled brats... you got an active dev team here who actually speaks to the players very extreme often... where as other games... you will only receive a wall.

I think people is not appreciating the work they put in... and that they actually are this engaged with the community 10 years after still... and probably even more so than in the past is a friggen blessing, I think people complain to much about nothing of importance, there will be added upgrades to stuff as there is so many popular features but it is not something you do over night.. over a week or 3 months.... you can maybe expect some upgrades but first they got to do what is planned first, adding to the story and finishing up content.

Take it easy, play another game if do not like FFXIV and see a Development team, you never will see spot or whatever else other in rare patches and the likes.

EvE Online also is engaged in their playerbase, or at least used to be, to mention one other MMO.

No we can't talk about that it's impossible for devs to merge these pointless abilities "something something is ready" like ogi and super ogi with ikishoten (cough cough tilania cough).

Spoiled brats that said please don't put these awful SAM changes live and the only thing these "active" devs did was complete radio silence. Meanwhile lead dev gets stomped on his BLM -> he buffs BLM through the roof ....

I am spoiled brat because i don't want to see ff14 to be on cash cow life support mode while creative business unit 3 waste their time on other projects cause management told to do so.

Not just an additional cast. The removal of Seigan, and kenki generation from positional combo actions and being changed to getting it for free are also horrible changes.

Communications 101: True Communication does not occur between two parties unless the recipient receives a clear understanding of what the communicator wishes to express.

Yoshi is the head of development for a major MMO. I'm not saying he shouldn't joke about things but he needs to judge his words carefully because they they hold a hefty amount of weight.

And like I said in the OP, it would be different if this was a one off, but he has shown a pattern of disregarding criticism.

All Jobs has had fixes added to them... I prefer when it was much more complex to play, but many do not or find it too difficult.

You need to design so it fit for a gamepad first of all, and saying that SAM is only hit is kind of BS, they are active adding to stuff changing buffing up and down all the time, if SAM had a little too much or the likes, expect changes...

I played Mnk since HW... and never stopped, no matter what weird things they did to it, I never found a need to switch to meta classes for content I play, and if people can't deal with it.. make their own PF or the likes.

In other words, you read more into the translation (including "attitude") than was actually spoken in Japanese, went off the deep end and now desire to be absolved of responsibility.

"A pattern of disregarding criticism" is simple to understand ... you ask, they say "no". You appear to personally believe that is 'disregarding criticism' when what you really meant was "not getting what we want, when we want it".

I mean, why don't we take this thread as a learning experience no?

It seems like the minute you criticize anything to do with this perfect game, this game that must have perfect ratings everywhere. Everybody blows everything so far out of proportion it looks like something little timmy drew in kindergarten.

So by that logic.. Does it not seem wise to, keep our criticism to ourselves and watch the game that's slowly turning into a dumpster fire ( Except it's not because it's obviously a perfect game with perfect developers that could do nothing wrong! ) and simply look to the side when we're asking eachother 'What Went Wrong?'

I'd recommend taking a look at your own advice. The post wasn't made in a way that was meant to show 'I am Right'. The phrase 'If the Cap Fits, Wear it' means to take criticism from people in stride. If people don't find the game bad. That's fair. They're allowed to view it that way. What makes one thing bad to one person may make it enjoyable to another.

But if I find something bad, If I find a problem and whenever I so much as mention this problem myself and others are almost gaslit into into believing that we're the problem.

I, Controversially liked the SAM change. I miss Kaiten, it was satisfying to use, but I can Live with it being removed. It's less buttons on my heavily bloated hotbars and that's coming from someone who uses 4 hotbars.

I didn't like how upon PVP's release... Everything was broken, but I understand that there was probably some people out there that really enjoyed it.

We've said it many a times in other threads. But we ain't asking for an instant change because most of what we're asking for isn't possible for an instant change. We just wanna be acknowledged rather than being swept under the rug. I in no way said in my post that negative opinions are right. Just like how my opinion of the Kaiten removal is probably against many others feelings about losing that oh-so-satisfying button.

But when all that I see on the forums is people just insulting others half of the time. It makes me wonder if the Devs even bother to look in this wasteland.

Maybe instead of trying to read inbetween the lines. You just don't.

I love this game. I have so many friends who play this game... But I don't like seeing my friends not come online because they don't enjoy the game. And if these things that ruin their enjoyment of the game distresses me too? Then the least I can do is make my opinion and feelings known.

Running games form this is not not something you do from your basement, cut the man some slack? Everytime we get something people either complain or want more and more... it is a problem, not for Yoshi P. not for the develeopment team or QA or whatever.

The problem remain with the player getting something and then constantly want more = what we call being spoiled, appreciate what we got and appreciate new things... some like bluemages... others don't... some like Eureka others do not...some like war... others like pld...

Some jobs is suddenly not the top DPS anymore... people whine about it instead of showing some loyalty to the class they switch to SMN or whichever job that does those 3-500 more dps instead.

We just got more housing? Anything wrong with that, well it is not enough, but it is a patch on the things, the problems rely on how they allow people to get multiple property still and people abuse that which is absurd and should be plugged including removal of eg. grandfathering..... people use housing as farms for pocket FC's that get hard to get materials NFT style from eg. Ships and submersibles.

People is getting too much, and they can't handle it, stop complaining and play the game instead... and yes if you need a challenge go play ultimates I could not agree more and also it is not this impossible thing that only a few can do, but it takes time to do so, so some dedication is needed, which is something that is needed...

Where have you been when monks/reapers were kings in 6.05-6.08 and monk still stayed king in savage when after MONTH (when savage hype literally died) finally all other classes got buffs? SAM was not meta class to begin with and now SE forces me to look up anything else that wont get butchered like SAM.

SAM complaints are not based on log numbers and also you REALLY SHOULD TRY TO LAUCH GAME if you bring up 4th phys range summoner as example meta class to switch to.

when i need to i will post with my concerns about the game and will post my case to the programmers on needed changes to the game and take time to check and see if any are needed to the game and thank them for their time.

While I would agree for a lot of things, I promise that statement/sentiment doesn't just exist on the forums. It's prevalent everywhere and especially in-game. Strictly speaking in-game, it's probably harder to find someone who doesn't use the glamour system.
