There's no need to report other players unless it's a serious issue. People minding their own business doing their own thing isn't a problem. You may think you're righteous for reporting random players but you're not. It just makes you a snitch.

It is a serious problem. That was discussed already, so don't lay the blame with the people that are not the actual rule violators. These people would not be suspended, if they were not breaking ToS. Don't baby them.

I'm not in RP circles. Why would I be reporting anyone? I also stated previously that it was not me doing the reporting. I'm simply defending those that do so, because they did what SE asked to do. Could there be one or two going out of their way to do it? Maybe there is. But attacking people for reporting ToS violations that are a serious issue is not the way to go.

I rarely see these listings in PF. Maybe in your world it's an issue but here, there might be one listing at a time at most. Even then, is it really that much of an eyesore? SE asked that you resolve your differences before involving a GM. They're not paying you to be a moderator so why do it if it doesn't affect you? Again, I don't like eRP and I stay away from Limsa in general but when someone send me a PM about wanting to do a photoshoot or eRP, I tell them no and they leave me alone.

Shout is a different thing entirely but it's still a personal matter, something they would rather be resolved between players. Remember when players had to resolve their differences instead of crying to a GM anytime someone said "mean" things? Of course, you can blacklist people using an in-game tool to stop hearing them and it only takes a moment and it's done. I haven't seen anyone shouting eRP requests but I'm not saying it doesn't happen.

I refuse to report because it's none of my business UNLESS they're clearly gathering bots or something like that. Just because you witness someone breaking the rules, doesn't mean you need to immediately contact the GM. They have rules, there's gray area, and if it doesn't really matter, do you really need to report someone? Probably not.

Did you ever read what I typed? It's not a personal thing. It's not angry mob mentality. The ERP ads and carrds, hurt the game, not the ERP itself (unless it is out in the open).

There is a difference between reporting players who literally harass you with stuff that affects you directly and stuff that doesn't. Like calling you names, harassing you cause of bad dps in dungeons/trials, sexual harassment and all that is reasonable stuff to report players for.

What isn't reasonable and connected with being a Karen is going out of your way to hunt down things that don't affect you directly cause you have some sort of superiority complex. Going out of your way to make peoples lifes horrible and harder even though they don't even interact with you, that is indeed being a Karen.

And speaking of SE stance on this, Yoshi P said in an interview not so long ago that people shouldn't focus on hunting down other people who use mod XYZ or some other tools etc. and instead should focus on enjoying the game. So it's really funny you think SE wants you to hunt down other players like this here is some sort of "the purge" online. Go out and touch some weed and get a bit more relaxed!

Please read first before responding. On top of that, stop calling people Karens, when you don't know what a Karen is. Enlightenment goes a long way.

If you don't want to read the thread or gain a basic understanding of things, that's fine, but don't respond not knowing what is even going on.

I told people in this thread that ERPers should not advertise what they are doing. Other have also done so. If they do, they get suspended. If don't, they don't get suspended. How is that advice problematic for you? You have no ground to stand on, because you don't know what going on.

YoshiP actually touched about over ERP specifically, and it's mentioned in this thread.

Real roleplay venues and other things listed under Other being drowned out, parenting and rated T games, and potential blocking of FFXIV in certain countries aren't issues?

oh trust me, I know, I am against bots and cheaters, but really.. its a game, a virtual money system, the argument for RP and ERP is its not harming you personally, so neither technically are people using bots. bots dont advertise, in fact, SE has left them alone for so long its a joke. so why even bother reporting something SE clearly doesnt seem to care about?

the presence of bots will not caused the game to be banned in some countries. ERP and SE doing nothing about it very well could lead to that.

personally if you need to heavily mod your game (not you personally) so you can wear piercings and ring and modded clothing on modded bodies to improve your ERP experience, go ahead, doesnt bother me in the slightest. want to use parsers, again, whatever floats your boat.

advertising it... unwise and expect repercussions after SE changed their ToS. thats all there really is to it. doesnt seem very gray area to me... seems pretty cut and dried after their last round of bans for EXACTLY THE SAME BEHAVIOUR

While you're right on point one, I make it a personal vendetta to report anyone for curses in public chat, etc because this community is straight dumpster fire. 100% passive aggressive and filled with groomers on Discord.

While I agree with most of what you said, I'm not sure you understand what a Karen is.

Karens are overly entitled and feel they deserve some level of service or goods that they do not. If anything, this is more akin to being a tattle-tail.

People are not reporting because its some gray zone. It is explicitly against what Yoshida wants in the game and he has been quoted for saying as much.

Doesn't matter if it's "hurting the game" or not. Yoshida has asked people to keep things behind closed doors. Publicly viewable "carrds" are not being kept behind closed doors.

For me personally, I have kids that play this game and know other kids that play. I trust them to enjoy the game, but if my kids saw a link for a venue/party, and opened it to reveal a 1/2 naked man yeah I would be unhappy.

I wouldn't blink an eye if suddenly the entire brothel network were insta-banned... but I'm also fine with letting things be- the "Don't talk about fight club" is a good way to do it. As is, we constantly see people complaining "omg I got banned guyz! wtf! so gray zone what I was doing wasn't wrong" when they're clearly against ToS, Yoshida's wishes and have blatant sexual innuendo on their "card" outside of game.

You can't really do something super ambiguous and get loads of people worked up and then feel all coy-the last time we had this thread a GM got snatched up by the throat and wound up having to apologize to the person. So while this might be like 'omg xDDDDDDDD I LOVE ATTENTION!!!!!!!!' to you, this could get an employee in trouble because people are getting worked up over something they don't understand and the reason they don't understand is because it's been gone over a million times-whether you like it or not, venues are just fine. Them using party finders are just fine. Was it the 18+? What was it so that this doesnt drag on for so long again that someone gets in trouble at their job. Please try to think outside yourself for once, I am formally begging I know it'll be hard and that it is a lot to ask of you but please tell us what that OP did wrong so no one can do it again

Where is the fun in that? The OP knows, if they do not want to come clean why should I? In truth I do not even know if it was my report, though I did report them as per my first post. This has less to do with attention more so I find it funny that in 30+ pages the OP is still trying to hide behind the idea they do not know.

Maybe OP finally realized that using Party Finder to advertise their ERP hoes that make more in an hour of typing than we do in 1 month of hard work and farming isn't the best idea lol. I still say it's dumb to report it, but some of us non-neckbeards would like Party Finder to be for actual gaming things, and they can find some other way to earn 1M gil per hour besides clogging up our hunts and fates.

ESRB flat out states that online interactions are not covered by the rating.

it's on the game box too, if you buy a physical copy.

To be fair, stepping foot into the cities is likely to get you a half naked, or fully naked man to begin with.

I know PLENTY of people that play male characters that wear skimpy glams.

AFAIR there is no restriction that the PF party must do PvE or PvP content afterwards. If the devs do not want that the PF is used to create/find partys which do not do PvE or PvP then they should restrict the party finder to it.

No, it is to cover SE not you. You made no point at all.

FFXIV is like a public park. You can risk it and do stuff you are not suppose to do, but if you get caught you are at fault, no one else. Right now there are two options: get better at hiding what you are doing from others or go to were whatever you are doing is allowed.

I’m not sure what your point here is. You meant to respond to me right? Not someone else?

A character wearing things in game, using glamours made by the game devs, is far and away different than a card with art depicting a naked man with censored bits.

What gets me is the fact the first sentence of the e-mail says "Harassment Violations". That means it couldn't had been the PF itself, but him or whoever got banned got into some heated words with someone and started harassing folks.

So someone's gotta be lying here or the GM is a fail. I don't think this has anything to do with the PF being written that way at all, but the exchanges afterward.

Do people seriously believe the ESRB is there to protect players? That's insanity.

If it did no one would ever get banned for saying racial slurs or other nasty things.

It is there solely to protect the company from litigation, and thus they must be shown to enforce it whenever possible. Or they will be drawn and quartered in various markets that decide to target their business interests. The politics at play here require some perspective outside of shout chat.

I can't currently check, since i am posting from a phone, but if youre from the EU OP,
you can insist on having a GM tell you the exact reason why you got banned in the first place (since it is considered witholding personal data under EU law Article 15 of the GDPR). It usually takes a while if you contact one about it, but they will provide you the exact line with reasoning that got you suspended.
