Is anyone having this on console, or is it just PC?
I'm going to buy an external sound card. If the problem is solved, I will unsubscribe in the topic.
I'm using a AMD FX 8320 processor and I'm still having issues
I've actively done all *fixes* including those in the 6.0.1 patch notes, issues still persist even on the lowest audio quality. I'm using an AMD FX-6300
The problem persists after the update and even following the suggestion of lowering bit rate and Hz, which had no impact for me before 6.01. I really wish it wasn't like this because it definitely impacted my enjoyment of the msq and now quality of play since I'm doing most combat muted and without audio cues.
Seems like it only affects people with amd cpus, it doesn't seem to be performance related either as even people with ryzen 9's are getting these. I really hope we won't have to wait 2 more weeks till savage patch to get fixes...
No improvements at all after patch 6.01. It's been quite a long time now and playing the game with audio has been unbearable. Not only it affected my experience with MSQ but will also be a huge annoyance with the savage raid tier coming out soon. Please SE, address this problem as soon as possible.
Using an AMD FX 8300 processor myself.
Update has done nothing to fix this issue for me, even with the suggested lowering bit rate. Using an AMD FX 6300.
Was really holding out hope that the patch would fix it ;_;
The Problem still persists, still the same since 6.0, everything is stuttering, music, skills, cannot (and do not want to) watch cutscenes, even with the for me lowest possible settings, like 16 Bit and 8000 Hz
Hm, also AMD FX 8320
First post here to report the patch has not solved anything. I have an AMD FX 6300 (I know, I need to update), but before Endwalker I had no issues with the same CPU. Tried every fix, tried stopping any process that would occupy audio or realtek related programs, no solution.
No change here with the patch either.
Not resolved, if anything it is worst!
No better sound, too :( My hope was so big to play a dungeon with sound now in 6.05 but...no :(
I also feel like it's gotten a bit worse.
With avoiding every in-world combat (so no fates, no other quests) I managed to play the Story fairly audio-issue free by only using the Trust system and avoiding playing with other players as much as possible.
Over the weeks it went from 100% audio-crackling down to maybe a 40%. I even managed to do a dungeon or two with friends with minimal issues during intense fights
Now I've entered the same dungeon and it immediately starts with distorting the sound and I could only minimize the issue by looking down and away from the fight (not gonna have to explain why that isn't a "fix").
I muted the game for half of the dungeon since it wouldn't get better even out of combat. Unmuted it halfway through and only had the issues within high-action combat.
And since SE mentioned it, yes I have my Hz already on the lowest possible setting since it was one of the things the community found early on that helped me reduce the amount from 100% to 40% of the time (besides other things that helped, like putting listening position to 100, I am still in awe as to why that helps reduce it).
So waiting 2 weeks for nothing, maybe even making it worse, is quite the feat.
So the audio issue wasn't fixed my end either - i figured i'd try the free trial of this spatial thing to see if that helped - now turning that off my sound is so so much worse, so.. yeah that was great. With it there is still minor stuttering not as bad but i'm definitily not going to be paying for a bug fix that's just taking the everloving mick.
Stuttering has gotten worse for me too with the latest patch. It's happening in every fight now.
It seemed to have gotten better for me. Not back to normal, but better. I was able to turn graphics back up to high and it was great. I didn't start getting any audio issues until I went back to zone 5 to do msq. Once I brought listening position back to camera, then it started up again, if not as severe.
It's gotten a lot better this patch for me. I have not made any changes to my setup or any settings between 6.0 and 6.0.1, except disabling spatial audio.
Cutscene's have barely any crackling anymore - and for the first time ever, Inns and Baracks do not constantly pop anymore - just minor, occasional popping when menuing. Funnily enough, enabling spatial audio made it better pre 6.0.1 - now it's better without spatial audio enabled. I may actually start MSQing now.
Win10 10.0.19042
AMD FX 8320
GTX 1070 Ti (30.0.14.9709)
32 GB RAM DDR3
ASRock 970 Pro3 R2.0
Stereo Headphones at 44k 24 bit
Realtek HDA 6.0.9132.1
Listening Position: 100
Equalizer: Standard
Player Effects Volume: 100
Wireless Controller Setting: 0 + muted.
Immersive Spatial Audio: disabled (installed)
Can confirm nothing changed with patch. The only thing that makes the sound better in any way is changing the listening position to 100. As a side note I've been having the exact same problem with FFVII Remake. Only happens with these 2 games. My CPU is a amd FX-8320e.
I wanted to report that the patch did not solve anything on my end, in fact it seemed to make things worse, I did reduce my bit rate like it said in the patch notes but that didn't help at all. Had to shift my listening position back to 100 but its still causing problems.

I bought this computer in 2012 when Mists of Pandaria came out. It has been very reliable for a long time and is only now starting to show its age. It played Metal Gear Solid V at Max settings without issues. When I bought Resident Evil 2 it definitely started to show its age but played it alright at Medium settings. I think ARR came out at about the same time I bought my computer so I don't see why it would have problems now all of a sudden.
I was thinking it got worse as well but I wasn't certain. If it did get it worse it's minimally so.
Yeah I had issues since the start, I managed to lower the sound stutter by installing the new spatial audio software, which only narrowed the stuttering to occur in housing areas/house. After the 6.01 came in today it just went bonkers all over again in fights, cutscenes, zones themselves etc. So..
Majority of the issues seem to be connected with AMD FX series CPUs, the motherboards that support the older ones. Narrows down to CPU Throttling - since the game itself is not optimized forcing the CPU to overheat and thus you guessed it cause the stutter.
Was really hoping they would fix this, I can't believe it still persists after so many people have this issue. Idk kind of not in position to invest in new hardware atm, and savage is closing in t.t
I started having audio issues with the latest patch today after experiencing zero issues sinze launch, all I hear is a crackling noise (no ingame sound) on the startup screen right after the Square Enix logo, and then my game crashes to desktop without an error before I get to click on anything. It goes away by switching to directx9 in the launcher config, but when I actually log in on my character it has extremely low fps, stutters and crashes during intense player congregations like being in cities or hunt trains, rendering th egame nigh unplayable anyway.
Hey we're Processor Buddies xD
The patch notes had a note that said the issue has been addressed. I am still having as many audio problems as before and following the advice to reduce my device's sample rate has had no effect. I came back just to play Shadowbringers and Endwlakers after a 4 year hiatus (we had a kid) and this is extremely disappointing. In the six years I played this game prior to having our daughter, I never had any issues with sound.
Hey, I just got back from work and I managed to test some stuff even with the awful que haha. So launching the game back to dx9 solved everything for me. If anyone wants to give it a shot, graphics looked like on dx9 settings cause it was adjusting it to laptop settings for some reason so change it to desktop ones. If you can bare playing it like that, mild difference especially with gshade. I'm curious if it might work for others :o
At first it had improved for me, but now it’s back to how it was before if not worse. CPU is Intel i7 9750H and it stutters very badly in and out of cutscenes. Butchering my graphics settings used to help but not anymore.
Welp, patch didn't solve anything and we are a minority here (AMD FX6300 too) sooo yeah, this is going to take a while or just not be solved as it happen with other many games and AMD processors...
It feels a little better than before, but whenever i'm in battle with multiple foes or characters, such as a Fate, dungeon or PVP, the audio crackling comes again at full force.
*sigh* I just want to enjoy EW...
Why must we, AMD FX6300-kin, suffer so much? TT_TT
After Patch still having the issues - stuttering and cracking when looking at the target and not while not looking at the enemy none
Ok So i lied in this post. Not really, but def jumped the gun. It's just as bad, but the triggers seem to be less consistent. before I could turn audio off and it would help tremendously. Not so anymore. And now ARR zones are really bad. before i would drop down to 1fps, then it would reset back to 80 fps and then cycle. Now it never resets its just cyles between crap and slightly worse crap.
Seems to be worse now since I was standing around in a city and having it happen when yesterday in that same city it was behaving. Combat is right out. It would work sometimes before and now it seems to be consistent that it doesn't.
ZERO issues before 6.0 for years in this game. They need to fix what they broke.
hey i am curious is there anyone who does NOT have AMD and has the problem? so far 100% of people i have seen that mention their hardware have AMD chips. They should just remove that spatial audio that is probably what ruined the game sound. Also just logged in since the patch, i daresay they made it worse like someone above said. It never stops doing it now.
AMD FX-8300 here. Issues have not been fixed after the patch. In fact, going into the last turn of Pandemonium was actually like physically painful.
Hoping for a fix ASAP, the music in this game is too good to not be able to enjoy.
I have had the exact same issue here with what I refer to as massive echo like sound. It's a strobe type sound that is very loud and makes it impossible to enjoy the game. My problem also started at Endwalker launch and the new addition of Immerse Spacial Audio, which I think is the actual culprit. I do not have that enabled btw. Now today, after the supposed "fix" patch.. it is STILL bugged. I have tried everything I can to fix the issue on my end (which honestly, I shouldn't have to) to no avail. I really hope they get this fixed for real so I can get back to my favorite mmo. And yes I do have AMD FX-8370 Eight-Core Processor 4.00 GHz
