I dunno about caster gear but WHM's animations are extremely girly in some cases. Even Holy is going to be a massive flower exposion now, right?

Would you like some butter with a side of otters?

Apparently, it is not okay to love nature and still be "manly"...

Oh no. I remember the last time we had otter posting on these forums..
It's Ottergate 4!

Dancer is the sole reason I will not switch to Male. I love the class, but the animations are pretty specifically tailored to females.
Or effeminate males... Nothing wrong with a male dancer...
Edit - Almost forgot the otter...

I think the glamours for casters end up feminine too often. In that I often sort of wish I was playing a female hyur instead of a male lala for my main job because the glams would just take way less work to look good.
I don't mind the feminien aesthetic. It's a very cool style, but it definitely makes finding a glam harder.
I'm not a fan of DNC and WHM visually because it's a bit feminine. It's not bad, but clearly not what made me try. So yes some jobs might be too feminine to motivate someone with more masculine preferences. But i have seen many guys play WHM with a male characters, so some of them might not agree. So it's okay, i got plenty of jobs i like aniway.
I'm more into Sage when it comes to healers tbh, it's the only healer made me say "it looks cool i wanna try it!"(i can use funnels with sage come on). Same thing with ranged physical dps, MCH and BRD are the ones i played the most.
Dancer's job is somewhat themed more feminine than I like my character to be, mostly during the steps and finishes, so I can see where people are coming from.
Casters have a very mixed bag, they have a decent selection of unisex and masc-centric gear, but a lot of it is just frills and clothes that are either gowns or cut to evoke gowns.
This is dialled up to 11 for healers and it's the only role where I think it actually gets to the point of being offputting. To the point it's one of the reasons I find playing the role frustrating.
I don't mind the feminine movements of WHM, expressing non-masculine traits can be important, but when all but a few pieces are very feminine with frills and lace abound, many sporting coresets and the likes I find myself just using jobless glamour stuff. Every expansion I wish they'll open up glamour for classes so I can use caster or aiming stuff on healers, or even just reuse sets so that the roles are shuffled. Hell, the alchemist coats would all make great doctor-healer glams, but no-one uses them because they're stuck on crafting jobs.
Not everyone who plays healer wants to be a priest/ess or noblewoman.
I want doctor and medic glams, more military glams and glams you could see on JRPG protags for healers like the other roles get.
FFXI gear is mostly unisex since ive been playing FFXI
Like WHM

It looks really good on males and its not a fucking robe...
I think this is the relic whm set
I think
I think that the idea of certain dance steps being "more feminine" is a Media problem exacerbated by over 100 years of movie images of women dancing for the pleasure of men, rather than a timeless cultural standard.
Still, personal ideas of what makes an action masculine or feminine are, well, personal.
I happen to like the level 80 WHM Weathered gear set, for instance. Then again, I've been a fan of robes and cowls for magic users -- Fantasy tropes that have existed since people actually wore robes and cowls in real life. Perhaps that Media problem is at work there as well.
I mean this is all where it gets frustrating to talk about right? Because if someone asks me if the Dancer Job is gendered, my answer is that parts of it indeed use imagery that for most of it's existence has been very gendered and in a way that objectify the dancer. If that doesn't bother you or you enjoy it, sincerely no shame. But since this is a thread to express opinions, I did. I said I saw where people are coming from. I also implied in the second half of my comment that it's not enough to really put me off, just that it doesn't really gel with me and those associations are why.
I think that implying there is some sort of timeless cultural standard of men dancing in this way for the pleasure of others is sort of misleading though, because outside of those who directly embrace non-traditional genders and gender expressions most people are going to look at dancer and see feminine traits and association.
I also like the robes and cowls and think the rest of what's in the game has a place too. It's just that that's the vast majority of what healers wear and that's off-putting, not to mention that even on men they're often cut the same, whereas I'd like some healing clothing that doesn't look like that.
Particularly if you don't like that healing is often relegated to only to pious people and is often depicted as a negatively masculine thing to do outright.
There's so many other types of people in real life who wish to heal, so the fact that it's not represented alongside more traditional options is disappointing to me.
Honestly, I agree many of the sets for healers look a bit feminine, but then I rarely wear those anyway, that's what glams are for and there are plenty of glam options for male healers that its not even worth complaining about. As for the robe/dress argument, now that's just silly, FFXIV is for the most part a Fantasy RPG with some sci-fi elements (Garlean and Allegan) so males and females wearing robe is appropriate to the setting, no one said you had to keep them as robes and thus again... Glam it, plenty of options.
I believe that's AF2 from Abyssea if I remember right- also people called it the 'condom hat' >.>
The WHM FFXI gear shown is either the AF1 from the AF questline or the AF2 from Dynamis instanced farming. Both share the same model with a variance on the colors as was the case with all AF1 and AF2 gearsets for all jobs (as all jobs got their AF2 from Dynamis prior to Adoulin). I wanna say that what is being shown is AF1 WHM gear because i remember for WHM their AF2 recolor was just more vibrant whites and vibrant reds.
WHM AF3 gear from Abyssea is a bit more chonkier/comfier looking on the torso and has a Assassins' Creed style hood for the headpiece which was a massive upgrade over the prior sets' condom hat
White Mage does tend to prefer dresses on the lower half. Makes those pants pieces all that more awesome when they arrive for Glamour.
Those quest reward top robes with the bottles and stuff on it from Heavensward look nice too.
I have an idea
If someone is passionate enough, have mega-thread with fanart of a masculine version of spells and gear and vice-versa.
Who knows, maybe some of these people might get hired.
The gear of healers in general tends toward dress like with bare shoulders, even on male characters.
I play my WHM a lot in the SHB PVP outfit, which is more of a Garlean inspired military outfit, so I have no complaints about how it looks.
I don't find the WHM's abilities to be overly feminine. The gauge is a bit flowery, but I find everything else to be pretty neutral.
Not job specific, but i feel many people forget that style even if eliminate should not be disregarded.
For the Nier raids i was truly hoping for the Commander set to become at the very least a Fending set, at most a glamour set for all roles.
