I hope these housing fixes take Internet Speed into consideration.
I most likely won't be in the USA when 4.2 hits and my internet won't be great where I'll be.

I have long said Stormblood will be the make or break for people's patience. Many acknowledged A Realm Reborn as a salvage project and gave the developers understandable leeway. While their expectations grew with Heavensward, people also accepted this was their first expansion. We're now reached a point where FFXIV has grown far beyond the doom and gloom days of 1.x. This game is Square's most profitable by a considerable amount and everyone now expects more. It's among the reasons I get sick of server limitation excuses.
Another contributing factor, in my opinion, is the sheer number of lobby errors. It's one thing to not be fast enough but another when the game simply doesn't allow you in. After all the talks of "upgrading," it wasn't a good look for SE.
This will solve nothing. All new plots will be owned by the same people who brought every plot and own everything, until they don't fix this will never end. These news plots everywhere will be brought in 5 minutes and people who actually would need them will be left with nothing as always. You people didn't failed in making creating new plots for everyone, you have failed in creating rules so everyone would buy its own, and when you see things like Free Companies own entire regions, you can understand how your system have failed.
Are you gonna do something about the people that are hoarding multiple houses/plots on their alt accounts? I've found literally dozens on Excalibur over the last few years.
And related to that, you need to just outright BAN people that are flipping houses. Buying houses that encourages people to buy illegal gil for farmers since these houses generally sell for large amounts of gil that most people don't have like 50-100m. House hoarders and house flippers are just making the housing situation worse.
Thanks for the quick response! this is great news!
I really wonder if the solution you're coming up with will actually make it so that people actually get the chance to buy a house. Many people who want houses can't get it because FCs are flooding the wards and buying them out. Frankly speaking, and I'm sure it was mentioned before, making the housing transfer to Shirogane available at the same time as the initial release was a mistake and adding more wards won't solve the issue. I don't know what solutions is going to be made but I hope it won't just be a band-aid solution. Instanced housing might be good idea but that's just me.
Thank you for response!
Hopefully they'll listen to what people are saying and implement the 1 Personal and 1 FC house per account. Or maybe even they'll add a delay between the time a plot is relinquished for sale and the plot being available to buy? The first would at least slow down the resell market and the second would pretty well kill it off since re-sellers couldn't guarantee the plot to the buyer anymore.
I'm not sure what more wards will solve on its own besides just a repeat performance of what we just saw. It was definitely crummy, but at the same time what kind of solution would even work? Making houses 1 private per account doesn't seem like a fix at all because some people play avidly on multiple servers if not data centers. A more server-based limit could help more than an account based one in my opinion, and not just for private use. Especially here in Gilgamesh, certain FCs own multiple houses for little to no reason except because they can. It was maddening trying to get a house with such things happening, but that's the way housing works to begin with. That's how it's always been, and even if you add in more wards, that's all that'll happen. People will wait for maint to drop, flood the server, cause connection issues, and then those with superior connection speed and money will eat up the houses. Housing was an unfair race since it was created. But that's just like life.
Thanks for the response, Yoshi-P!!
I hope only Small plot can be used for personal use and Small, Medium and Large for FC's.
Thank you for listening to us!
I was wondering though will there be any changes to shared housing so the deed of the house can be exchanged between residents? Ie: person shares home but can't play anymore with original pc. So then someone can take charge of ownership of the home.
So are you going to also heavily monitor the houses being transferred in the coming days too? People are selling their plots for 150m...for a small.
This alone gave me the kick I needed to resume subscription to this game. At the end of the day, FF14's developer still pays more attention to its player base than companies like NCsoft West which ports game from Korea and then never address its issues.
Yoshi P. thank you, thank you. :p
Good on you, Yoshi-P. As someone who managed to get a home the hardest part for me personally about this was seeing all my friends upset about not getting one themselves.
A limit sounds like it'd be tough to implement, seeing as account wide would tag all of someone's characters, but I really hope you guys can think of SOMETHING to limit the people who snatch up multiple plots.
Thank you for the response. I have been trying to get a house for our free company for a year now. Im so angry that the likelihood of that happening is slim. Here’s what I think should happen.
1. Don’t have houses purchasable right at the start of the new patch. Have it at least an hour later, so that everyone can have a fair shot of logging in. Make it work similar to seasonal events. They start while in game.
2. Make it so that you can have one house per account, not counting FCs. FC houses should also have a small member requirement no higher than five people. That way people can’t just form fcs to have personal housing. In addition you should also be required to be an FC for at least six months. Also allow our houses to have our alts as tenants.
3. Free company only wards. That way we can be guaranteed to get more housing.
4. A couple wards isn’t enough. Double them.
5. Open new housing wards. Ala Mhigo, Doma, or that Ishgard ward you talked about would be awesome.
Yeahh, things were bad on Jenova too, getting in to the game after an 880 person que only to see all the large plots were already snatched up long before we even got the chance to try was a little upsetting, me and my FC worked hard as we could to scrape the money together even after being crippled by our officers gutting us of our gil and company chest's materials. But this was just a painfully disappointing conclusion, we were really looking forward to the chance to get a mansion finally, only for this circus act to happen the moment the patch dropped.
Thank you for the response. I also suggest limiting plots to at most one personal and one FC plot per account, with the option to allow that individuals alt's to use the same house. Also, would love to see an increase in Tenant spots and maybe also add tenants to apartments? Thank you!
Thanks for the consideration. That said, please make it one house per account, no more house for alts.
Thanks for the response Yoshi! And thank you for listening to our feedback! I'm sure you will come up with something good :)
I don't think doubling the wards will be nearly enough. Every player should be able to purchase a small, medium, or large house if they have the gil. Every FC should be able to have a house as well if they have the gil to buy it.
I do like the idea of one personal house per server, but apparently each character can have one on a server.
I hope however you do it, there will be enough for people that want a house and there won't be a need to rush to get a plot.
Please take into consideration those that own a house and not allow them to buy another plot for a few weeks after releasing or opening up new areas.
Some decent news - giving more wards is good but how about effectively tearing off the bandaid, step it up a bit and start taking away multiple houses from the same owner in addition to this as well as limiting how many characters on one account can buy multiple plots.
Thank you for the response YoshiP, you are great
Some system needs to be put in place to also prevent the one-man FC exploit for FCs to grab additional plots of lands. I had a look at 1-10 man FCs on my server with a house, and one group had not 1 or 2, but 30 plots just for them, with 1-2 people in the FCs. They even numbered the FC's from 1 and up. So of 2880 plots of land, this one FC holds 1% of all plots on the server.
I would like to propose a potential solution to the XIV staff that would be both cost efficient, and beneficial for everyone, SE included.
1: Limit housing per account to 1 FC house and 1 personal apartment.
2: Make personal apartments instanced, much in the way FFXI is. The difference being, you can upgrade them from small to eventually large, allowing for everyone to own a personal living space without the need for individual plots.
3: Remove personal housing in the wards and make them 100% FC only. This will free up the majority of plots that are owned by multiple characters on the same account. Currently there are 2,880 housing plots between all zones and wards. That's a lot of FC real estate that could be utilized. ;)
4: Make all FC housing ward plots upgradable in a similar manner as the apartments would be. This system would allow every FC to own a large home if they chose to upgrade the the plot to that point.
I hope it's 1 FC house and 1 personal house per account. I mean, why would one person need more than that? I wonder if apartments will be adjusted as well? I don't see why they would, but it's a wonder. I'm glad they're going to be doing something about it, it shows they listen and care about our feelings. Let's just hope it works out. :)
Thanks for updating us, Yoshida :) We got a house back in 2014, Plot 3 in LB...before personal housing came out, the wards were empty. Hopefully the fix will allow people to get their houses!
Thank you for realizing part of the housing issue. Though this may be a temporary fix. The main issue really is that people use their alts to buy up the majority of the plots however. There should be a limit for housing per account like many others have suggested or else it'll just be the same issue at hand when more wards are released. Thank you for your time. ~Celi
Dear lord, there really is a social justice infestation going on :O
@Naoki_Yoshida
Sorry for the double post, but I posted this elsewhere and thought maybe I ought to share with the producer:
Hopefully 4.2 won't be as savage as 4.1. (:
Thank you for the other game content, too! I'm looking forward to it!Especially Manderville, eek!
so instead of a proper idea of personal instance you are just going to add more wards for the 10k(probably not even close just a bad guess) plus people on a server....... im sorry but do you plan on adding 30 more wards to what you already done? because we need more then just another 12 with 60 plots, sorry but you really need to rethink your housing more then adding wards because you just going to end up in the same place as you did 2 days ago, including if you do not stop people from having just 1 home per account that can be shared between all chars
To add to this, you need to stop house flipping severely SE. Perma ban accounts who are flipping housing. within hours scumbags were flipping mediums 200 mil. why are these people not perma banned yet. These people are gonna restart an acount, buy a jump potion and do it all again, why cause thats what people who break rules and laws do they repeat their crimes so at this point SE double wins they ban these people, they get more revenue, people who would love to have housing can get a chance at it. So everyone is happy. You guys claimed you wanted everyone to have a fair chance. 1st you should have release housig 4 or 5 hours after patch launch so server stabillized. 2nd postponed moving for a certain time after that. If you have a house already you shouldnt get the same chance as people who dont. (Keep in mind i got my large im not salty) but im a sympathetic i hear people upset i get upset cause they are. 3rd 1 house per account, plus 1 fc house if leader.
I agree that housing should be centered on 1 home for a FC chosen by FC leader and 1 private home.
1- Expand more apartment housing in all cities to allow all players to acquire 1. The current price of 500K Gil is perfect its a very easily attainable by players.
2- Implement a tier system to upgrade the apartments. Players Initiate a quest with the Apartment NPC's to expand their living space and storage space even add a Gardening spot. The cost in Gil/Materials based on level tier of the upgrade.
The housing at say MAX expansion having the space in and out comparable to a Mansion sized home. In comparison though the costs though apartment upgrades much higher in cost over the course of several upgrades.
The rest of these are just some possible suggestions for enhancing housing options.
1- Combine housing for married couples
2- Allow closed housing to be open to friends list members only
Thanks for the quick reply! I hated how anxious it actually made me..
One thing that would help with congestion from logins is to open all the wards early. This should have been done with SHirogane housing.
Instead of everyone camping at the Aetheryte (or in Shirogane's case, ward 1), let everyone disperse into the new housing wards beforehand.
