Though I haven't done the quest yet(stupid work and things costing money), from what I've seen, some of the Shisui items actually look better than what people have posted are the event items. =/

No, not most. Those that do, you end up waiting an entire expansion for and it becomes crafted leveling gear. That's hardly what people mean when they ask for something to be dyeable.
This is no where near the same as the Shisui sets being dyeable.Quote:
As for Shisui gear, people were eager to have it dyeable and have been requesting it from day 1. Here you are. Is all this drama really necessary?
Let's all be honest here, all these events that we get gear how many players just add it to the armoire and forget about it? lol
I do agree however that there is large amounts of gear recycling from SE, ARR had some, HW had even more, and now i guess SB is following same route
I have not tried the event itself out yet but feel like those are not exciting like events used to be. Remember the xmas one years ago where there were snowmen in fates and all that?
While i do not agree event= let's tie it to a fate, back then it was actually fun. SE need to bring the fun back in events, they are dull now days
Pretty sure I already put in my two cents here but I think the shusui (?) gear really had no business being an event item. The people that have been defending it by saying it's unique because it doesn't have the necklace part or that since it's dyeable it's okay- what? A lot of the gear in Stormblood is already in the game (most of the crafter and gatherer junk). It's really disappointing!
Am I the only one bothered by the actual content of the event quest? The whole thing felt incredibly skeezy, having to re-enact Gegeruju and Jiriri's deplorable behaviour.
Honestly I've half a mind not to bother doing it on my other characters now, since the event gear is nothing to write home about either. I said I wouldn't be caught dead in the Shisui set when I saw it during SB's launch, the same goes for this.
So... After the event, a friend mentioned the neck area seems a bit empty with the top on, which I replied to put on a necklace and what did I find? The top will hide your neck accessories despite no reason to do so (physically speaking). It's pretty weird...
You mean like here:

I don't think the islands where you do the quests at were there until today. I wonder if they will keep them around after the event?
Yeah. Was pretty awkward/sleazy. Just not my style of humour at all.
I'm pretty sure the event items are recolours because SE knew the Shisui stuff would be popular and want to be able to sell it on the cash shop starting next year. Perhaps they'll prove me wrong and we'll see a craftable version as leveling sets in the next expansion but my instinct says this was a choice motivated by greed.
Doesn't affect me since I dislike the sets anyways.
Yup that! Sorry I didn't saw the other thread before posting this.
Pretty sure this is the answer.
I guess this is probably the main reason we get what we have for this event. That and maybe cutting corners to save development time due to SB release. /sigh
The whole SB expandsion is a cut corners, the full thing is just copy/paste content we got in HW..
4 runs where each has a weekly drop? check
gimmicky mechanics we seen before while putting them in a different order? check
450 tome copy/paste? check
mass reused gear/color reskin/item icons? check
But hey.. tome icons are different, guess all the effort of development went there.
They are still missing some place that has 3 different runs in it (released at different patches) on weekly limit of some gear that is the same ilevel as the 450 tomes, along with having some currency bloat item to upgrade the current 450 tome gear to 10 ilevels.
kk since I know what is gonna happen for the next 2 years, can we just skip it and go 5.0?
Since a fair few apparently did not notice the islands were already there at the release of Stormblood, you might as well look into the Castaway Chocobo Chick fishing requirements if the minion strikes your fancy. It's fished up at the big island where you had to use the spyglass.
The only thing that legit tilts me more than recycled gear and potential cash grabs is that SE keeps failing to recognize that multi-step turn-ins are absolutely annoying. I'll endure the one-by-one for leves even though it breaks my soul (especially that Whitebrim run), but for a crowded event where the need to get in and get out is fairly high, sitting here doing twenty-seven (or more, but at least six of those are required to advance the story) turn-ins is extremely annoying and there's no reason for it.
Please, either let me buy the items with the thing you already made me craft one piece at a time without quicksynth, or just start putting in the ability to turn in stacks - like you did one of the years previous.
I usually switch between girl/boy hyur when the glams get boring, I went ahead and did the quest as a boy thinking we'd be able to buy the gear set for girls with the vouchers but the vendor isn't selling it. Am I Doomed to wait a year to buy it on the mogtsation or is it interchangeable like the actual dungeon gear ? I'm hoping for the later :<
Loved the event. Thank you SE! Next year, please add a....................

I really thought this event was extremely weird. Why the heck was I spying on ladies called "objects" of attention and one was a lalafell. I dunno... couldn't have put an elf there or just another race? Lalafells look like kids and it made me feel weird XD The reward for this event is really bad as well. It felt like they didn't even try... and we get a reskin of shisui of the violet tides's striking set without jewelry. Oh wow...
Oh thank god ! I didn't even think about trying it on my retainers thanks ^_^
I know personal tastes are subjective to an extent but it's kind of jarring that the majority of scantily clad female NPC's are all designed in a conventionally attractive manner yet most if not all the scantily clad male NPC's are far from conventionally attractive. I sort of expected it, honestly - but it's clear they know how to make attractive male NPC's based on designs used elsewhere so it's a shame they didn't throw a bone to those of us who appreciate the male form.
I don't understand why they only give us one set, when the dungeon have different set looking as in there's all together 3 set... Wish they would add all 3 different set...
Exactly this. My biggest dissapointment is the fact that I can't get the bikini the Miqo'te wears on the illustration. Oh how I wanted a new swimsuit (longs for a one-piece swimsuit), or... even just a dyeable version of the Morning Summer Bikini, which I really want...
I thought I have a glimmer of hope by seeing if they sell one in the Voucher shop, but nope. All hope is lost :(

Irregardless, my point was that the reward for this event just felt like it was deliberately set up to lower/capitalized development time and/or potential cash grab. I'm personally fine with how SB went, even if they are repeating the same formula. Hell, I actually like it a little more than HW, especially the improvement in voice acting. Of course, that's just my personal opinion. Glamour-related topic is... well, a different story.
LOL! Damn, I spit out my drink from laughter! Here sir, have a HQ Lala Stew. You earned it. /handover
