Considering that it's on a 5 minute recast, I would say there's no big issue, close thread please.
We all do have a right to express our opinions, but we should also make the attempt to study the change we have an opinion about.
Resurrect/raise are changing from:
R38, 0 MP cost, 10 sec cast, 1m cooldown
to
R14, 101 MP cost, 0? sec cast, 5m cooldown
possible reasons for making it lower:
1) People ALL hated having to wait til R38 to raise/resurrect, and even then they still adds full weakness effects.
2) As stated, Duribilty loss for returning, so raising dead people you see and your party members early on can prevent that. Also, we dont know if they are making changes to repair costs or needs on top of that either. maybe repairs on something like an metal sword will take 3 nuggets instead of just 1? 5 dodoskin specs instead of 1 to repair that chestpiece?
3) As stated, raise/resurrect prior to entering the R25+ dungeons.
4) Leves will shift to being primarily for solo play, and as stated, you cant raise/resurrect yourself. Group play will shift to field monsters/beast tribes/whatever they add. Monsters may be stronger and require more strategy/jobs/better teamwork, which will involve more dying, even past r14 and on. Job unlocking might start happening as early as R10 and we may start seeing group monsters in the field starting there, which will make raise at R14 viable.
5) More possible reasons.
wtf do we need to wait for? if we know its being changed to 14.. we already know the outcome... Please SE, keep ruining final fantasy 14 for the "casuals" enjoyment. While your at it please simply give me the best weapon in the game, because as a casual player, earning it takes way to long.
Can someone just start swearing up a storm so this thread goes away?
Darn it! Shoot! Sugar! Son of a gun! Gosh dang it! Crud! Poop! what the heck! Crap!
The issue is: EVERYONE will need to start ranting, swearing, pissing on each other and tearing down the walls all at the same time.
Otherwise, they'll just weed out the offending posts instead of throwing on the much needed tire-boot on this bitch :(
Edit: Bwaaaaaaa forgot quote :( and added a swear! ;)
Tera's raise is much better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
</trollForThreadClose>
as someone said earlier in this thread maybe they plan to put r15/r20 raids in later so raise at r14 would make a lot more sense if you think about it like that
Lets all just accept the weaksause r14 raise/res k? :Dw
Can somebody just close this god damn...this is a totally dumb thread opened by a totally stupid person and only supported by totally stupid people...
wow....
raise isn;t reraise you target other players who groups at 14?
Most ppl solo so far so you caan't raise yourself >.>
yet ppl are stating weaksause like it is reraise and theirfore reraise themselves. But seem to forget that ff11 has alot of reraise even at level1 reraise scroll >.>
I quit because my bros pc wasn't handling the game well after a bit, I couldn't be the race I wanted with out lag and no one talked. >.> nearly every server and no one really talked. I've talked to 5 people in totel.
Anway. I'm only treating people in how they treated me. :) But really... to make a stink about a raise spell that ffxi even in ps2 launching had a low level reraise item. Is a bit pointless. Raise spell would bring insentive to party i would think. and would keep power leveling down since death and exp loss was just a ways to slow down progress.
I didn;t care about death, do not care for exp loss. Exp can be gained back. I was never in a rush to max. To me death happens, you leanr what you did and try not to do it again. Death never relly makes the world any more challening. as in sometimes death isn;t from a failure but a unforeseen happen stance. Like getting oneshot by a ram in a low level zone. (blood tear >.>grrrrr)
It is not game breaker, why so many people care it so much.
I think they did it for R25 dungeon, because Yoshi mentioned that in dungeon there won't be a return point in some JP Q&A post before.
i worked for my 38 and i dont care, i love this, more people will have it which means i wont stay dead as much. Infact everyone should have raise now no excuse!!!
I think they will adjust it again, raise it higher once they raise... the level cap to like 70.
Raise1 like lv25, Raise2 lv50, Raise3 lv70
Yeah I think Rank14 is too low but I hope they do bring a SP penality. Making the game too easy isnt a good thing sometimes. Lower ranks like R1-20 you shouldnt lose any SP but above that it should grow up slowly.
100SP
500SP
800SP
1000SP
1500SP
2000SP Cap
Raise1 You dont gain back any SP you lost
Raise2 you get 50% back from what you lost
Raise3 you get back 70% from what you lost
I find it funny that people rage about something so trivial. Good party members will have a raise spell on hand no matter what rank it takes to obtain it. Regardless, this is how it will be from now on, so there's no point in crying over it.
Just here casting a vote. I think it's too low as well. r25-30 would suffice for me. The instance starts at 30 (right?), so even at 30 does not seem too bad imo.
500 cp which isn't hard to get then it was lowered to 10 cp. On top of that the tutorial gives you a level 5 earing that had 10 reraise charges not to mention velantiones day had the heart wands which also had forms od raise/reraise. Plus there was the level 24 earings with reraise.
Exp/sp down isn't giving a challenge. And that just creates the PL thing ffxi had. Remember I did say 99% of all parties had a PL. Even with a whm/healer this was from 1-60+ Not to mention that whm wasn't the only raiser rdm and scholer got them also.
You guys are not asking for a challenge that is fun. You're asking for a tediouse nich game.
part 2 just to furyher what I mean
aAsking for too many penalties does not make for a fun game. That is asking for a tedious game. I want to play a fun game @ ps3 launch. Not a game I want to toss my controler at. We have a decent penalty coming. There is nothing hard about exp loss or death. This is an mmo there is no "game over" no matter what you get up and try again. Death adds nothing but a mortality to our characters.
Not having an exp down dowsn't make it easy. And even still easy and hard are subjective to the individual. If this game to you is easy, find a different game. Buy games that fit your style, not force a game to fit you. Games above all else are ment to be fun. Win or lose.
I do not need death to have any meaning to want to avoid it. I'm a gamer death is bad. I do not need any form of penality to want to better myself. I died my share of times in ffxi and ffxiv. I didn't sweat the exp lose. And infact I hated getting power leveled. Because i felt like i wasn't going to learn my jobs.
I went beyond the thinking of having max dps for the jobs I chose. I wanted to imprive the timing of my skills, to do a decent amount of my skills during each fight. But timed well enough to not steal hate from the tank. Which isn't want people started to do. They did their skills to the point of stealing hate from the tank. I personaly thought it was cocky to do so. As well as pointless, because in the end, they cried or got upset that they died. I knew people who left a group after one death, and say the group is bad. I think ppl in ffxi relied to heavy on getting power leved and only grouping for the sake of leveling. It was like they feared death too much to see it as just bad and not use it to learn. If you only win, you never learn your true limits. :)
Sorry, I didn't read all the posts, anyway here is my 2 cents.
Now you will get durability penalty for returning when you are KO'ed. I think, in new midlvl raids it will be very important to revive party members...
Well... Revive at 14 rank maybe is not good for hilvl players, but it's not so bad, the game is changing.
to add here is the thing about death in ffxi. People didn't avoid death by getting better they or used death to get better. They did everything they could to cheat death. getting powerlevels for starters, having non healing jobs be healers. No one used death to get better. So making death meaningful will not do anyone any good since it will just make people have power levelers in group leveling. Which has a domino effect. People got PLs because of others who "sucked" at playing ffxi. And thought death was the worst possble thing and waste time, That 1 death meant the party was bad. Finding work arounds to cheat death for the max exp/sp and hr is isn't improving your skill in a game or wit your class/job.
Death is a big part of character growth. Since this is a virtual game and we do not suffer actual damage to ourselves in person, death is the only way we can learn what to do and what not to do. Without a fear of death, without that danger element, the game becomes boring, even more so than it is now. It's like closing your eyes or not even bother looking at the screen and just keep pressing one button and beat the game that way, kinda like crafting now.
It's also a big part of the adventure element in the game. Running around exploring places with high level monsters, doing your best to not get caught, that is a lot of fun. Why? Because it is dangerous and because you could die. The whole time you are sweating, stressed, twitching, and hoping that you make it because it is a lot of work wasted if you just ended up dying. It gets you excited. It's the reason people watch horror movies. Without much of a death penalty, sure you can still explore just not quite as thrilling. You could care less if you lived or die because you can just teleport there and walk that short distance again. Without pain, without suffering, we would not need heroes in the world.
Oh, if you are wondering why I haven't responded to this thread since this morning, it is because I actually played the game, had a linkshell party, and had a lot to do, which is more than what I can say for people who roam this forums all day long who doesn't even play the game but seems to have a lot of opinions about it.
14 is fine by me
i played the game i played ffxi dyne. WE GOT PL'ED AFTER COP WAS LAUNCHED 99% OF PARTIES HAD THEM.
(not screaming just making it noticable) I would be playing it now also if my laptop handled it well. I tried it didn't. Not that anyone talked
also fear of death is not a challenge. You just simply do not wish to die. Death in mmo is nothing more then something to slow you down.
I didn't care if I died in ffxi. Only elitists who had effed up proroties whined about it. And even still there was always a PL'er. So chances are no one died. Dyne you really do not understand the concept of death in a game. You are in my honest opinion. Over complicating the subject. Death in mmo is like faloling off a horse when learning to ride, triping over your dance shoes when trying to learn how to dance. You do not need to fear it to learn frm it. Death in games never actually had a meaning. It was just a game over. I've been playing games a good 20 years. And had enough death in my life to fully understand it.
when I did play i went to nearly every zone to simply get as meny aether points as possible. I did my best to avoid getting aggro anbd dying. Why? I do not want to die. And i have all the stuff on aggro icon rank icon. I did my best to avoid the mobs. Trying to walk past them. Sometimes I died and i learned to avoid it. Simply put I didn't want to die again. :) Sure there is little to no penalty. But if you guys over think death in a game the game becomes easy mode. You're thinking too much about it. And therefor not having fun. Loosen up. Try not to think about it and just play.
Sorry but again you seriously do not need anything to not want to die. It should be that simple. Like not standing in fire. XD
I think what they should do is make 1-10 take and 10-20 take more hours of game play... Meaning make it a bit more lengthy so it actually feels more of an accomplishment. Unlike now when you can get rank 10 in literally 1 behest.
This could make it seem that rank 14 for raise is not so low.
In this thread: people who stopped reading at the part where it said Raise would be lowered to R14 and came here to rage.
It's funny how people don't avoid dying for the sake of not dying. Dying sucks, it should be seen in most cases as a direct result of some kind of a failure. You shouldn't need to be slapped on the wrist or punched in the crotch after dying too. SP/XP penalties are just that, a punch in the crotch while you're down. You should feel bad when you die, you clearly screwed up or weren't good enough to do whatever it is you were doing. Go get better. Whatever happened to people wanting to play well for the sake of actually playing well?
