Disaster in the Darkhold seems to be a fitting title for what is looking like an epic failure waiting to happen.
We need to wait and see what's going to happen before making any judgement, good or bad. While I loved the video, I admit that the editing of it didn't make much sense. They kind of tossed you around here and there without much reason, and then slapped some split CS' in there. From a director's point of view, not the best video, but as far as the changes that have been made + the content, I think it will be fun.
vid looked horrible on my hdtv. but the dungeon is still something i'm looking forward to playing. but with the info on company added to the info, i'd have to agree with the negative people. this game is gonna fail and fail hard, dungeons won't hold most players down and the company stuff isn't gonna be something that people will log in ..nor pay for. u can add a reward system and change the names, but quests are quests and that is all this is gonna be. i can guess it will be lots of repeatable crap like leves, lot of solo play stuff(crap) the idea of ships don't seem like it will ever happen, and if it does it won't be till we pay off the already rich enough peoples up top in the se world (not gonna happen)
but anyway lol, yay to dungeons they will give us some fun, but boo to company's(witch will be the stuff they expect you do play around with all week while doing dungeons barely)
As in parties will fail until they figure out how to fight as a team or as in the dungeon will be a failure in general?
Oh and video quality wise, I think Tibian meant the way the various scenes were set up and how the video just jumped around from point to point.
Probably just a quick preview video, since in depth S-E trailers are usually better:

They started with you entering the dungeons => went to the end boss (what I am assuming is the boss anyways) CS (Bogys) => Back to the start of the dungeon => Back to the end CS with the boss => Back to the Dungeon => Showed the Boss in the CS.
Think they tried to build suspense with what was coming in the CS... sorta made the movie very choppy that I agree with.
Not really. Get some great story content rolling, non-story battle content people can enjoy on a regular basis, some great cutscenes, and build on more things that made XI great + modern MMO improvements + things to separate XIV from the pack, and you've got a good game going.
These two dungeons arent meant to be the end all saving grace of the game as they are rebuilding the game's core features from the ground up. And no its not going to be solo play stuff since they've already stated what will be used/reworked for solo content to this point. Go back and check out some of Yoshi's translated posts and recent letters.
Fun fact, The Executioners is the name of a band of pirates in limsa that you have a bit of contact with during the mrd class quest line.
Not all of limsa's Sea Born wealth redistribution engineers swing an axe. It just seems that the one captain and crew that allows us barnacle bait to walk the decks of there ship and throw in with them from time to time prefer to heft there steel in that way.
One word to describe this video is "bland." Uninspired environments, reskinned mobs, slow combat, and boring overall.
Yeah, I get that they were trying to get some sort of suspense to see the boss, which is a good tactic for a video, they just didn't pull it off very well. Not to say I didn't like the video, but it indeed was very choppy and kind of pulled away from the effect they were trying to pull of. But alas, it's just a dungeon video, not a game trailer.
As it has been stated multiple times before:
New mob-types come with expansions usually
Better to use dungeons already in the game for the first dungeons rather than leaving them in the corner
and
Be happy we're getting anything at all. Yoshi-P already said they're somewhat stretching it and being risky by releasing these dungeons and the Ifrit fight as soon as they are, but since the players are barking for content, they had to. I'm sure in the future we'll be receiving more "inspired" zones. And I wouldn't complain about slow-combat until we see what happens with the adjustments they make to AA after it is released.
Must be that time of day because a bunch of trolls came out all at once on this topic.
^__________^
Does look quite impressive, will be interesting to see the end result when all the changes are made. Hopefully there will be more than 2 dungeons then. I know they mentioned a 3rd tutorial one, but need a few more of them.
I'll be happy to see more Undead enemies in one spot, since you hardly see them aside from out of the way places/ certain leves. Also I really REALLY hope Flan are in the level 30 dungeon. We hardly see flan even now that they are in game, Gridania is seeped in magic, Flan are magic enemies, it only makes sense.
Seriously. FLAN.
Ooooh. I like the 8-person cutscene stuff :D
There will be a ton more i'm sure (Yoshi said something about the frequency of new dungeons in one of his recent letters I think). They just need to get the content that was already there implemented, along with finally implementing base combat fixes before they can move on to revamping classes, etc.
It looks like an "OK" assault at best.
The video editing was bad agreed but the dungeon is a welcome site JUST HURRY THE EFF UP JULY 21ST!!!!!!!!!!!! JESUS!!!! An Effin Month After Promised.... Starting To Feel Like Blizzard But i guess atleast we got a patch date in the first place
Looks good enough to me. At least its something new to do.
The one thing I saw in the video that i was hoping would be removed this patch is physical levels. The physical level xp bar is still clearly at the bottom of the screen. Just tired of switching between DoW and DoM and worrying if i should respec or not. Maybe it will be removed and just wasnt in this video, who knows? Might be waiting til jobs are put in.
^^pretty sure i read that physical levels are going away in 1.19
jesus im hyped now they need to release a video on the lower level dungeon
Get a new TV I'd say xD On my 42" Sony KDX 420 whatever something, can't remember too good lol, it looked all good on Full Screen with 720p. Of course it's not like a "real" 720p video would be on the HDTV...but on internet videos, it usually never is. But I was able to see the details, everything was sharp etc...so I don't see bad quality on the resolution there.
To put it in short.. You start to slack off.. Mister eye puts you out of your misery. =)
it gonna be a Dark Mandragora @_@Quote:
Only one complaint, apparentely (from this video): no new mob models (i presume the 'Ogre' in the end is the boss).
You pointed out your sentiment you dislike it...numerous times. Once is enough, multiple times is why someone would consider you trolling.
Also pushing for an "XI-2" doesn't mean trolling, as people are urging SE to remember what they did with their successful 9 year running MMORPG that paid for numerous projects and reinstate what worked with the same systems XIV uses.
It just occured to me in all my days of WoW... I don't remember any new character models through all of TBC. I killed humanoids at Level1 just south of Stormwind, and I killed tons of humanoids otw to the final boss of the game Kil'jaeden in Sunwell. Some Dragonkin which I had already seen several times before, and even half the bosses were copy pasta. Oh, another Dragon to kill? The gameplay was unique, so don't get me wrong there. But I should'nt even give Blizzard the benefit of the doubt seeing as some of the most mentally handicapped trolls are bringing up "copy pasta enemies". Guess what you kill in all the WoW expansion packs? More Humanoids! More Dragonkin! More Whelps! The consumers obviously dgaf.
I just don't think Jennestia is in a position to judge someone for being repetitious. Considering the fact that every single post by Jennestia I have ever read is either excusing SE for its failings or trying to get FFXIV remade into a FFXI-clone.
Jennestia, you already got your wish. FFXIV is turning into a WoW/ffxi clone every day. You can stop now.
I liki it reminds my of the promies ^^ i loved those. So dark and evil looking. And full party CS is a +1.
Gets herself and everyine new paties and whities.
Holy s%$^, i dont know if someone notice in the video that we have jump with dragoon :D, check minute 1:07, looks kinda FF XI type of jump but no pet then, now im gonna level up my lancer
