The same reason you may arrive home later than usual because of a multi-car pileup that clogged the freeway and you got no advance warning so you could pick another route. The same reasons flights get delayed. The same reasons you can loose power during inclement weather and there is a delay in restoring services. The same reason mail gets delayed around a major holiday like Christmas.

Internet traffic ebbs and flows all the time. If things get too busy some exchanges get overloaded and service degrades. It is up to your ISP to adjust the routing to clear or otherwise avoid those congested areas.

You clearly do not make sense at all. Not only me are having lag and 90k issues. And they also have tried everything they can to resolve this.
1 person in my LS keeps getting DC'ed.
A BRD that I done Fractal Continuum in DF kept getting horrible lag spikes.
And other people keeps complaining about lag in LS and FC. So yes, it is indeed a universal problem.

I am sorry that I'm proving people on the ISP-only front wrong on their little theories.

I should honestly just SS everything that people says about lag and their ridiculous 90ks from now on and post it here to just show how SE needs to fix their problem.

The majority of the time we are finding it is something going wrong in route to the servers and actually out of SE's control....but your ISP can help you with it.

Glancing at your post history I didn't notice any evidence that "your internet" was good. Until you post tests showing you have consistently low latency to each of the over 26,000 unique ASN's in the US and Canada, gonna have to call you out on that assertion that "your internet" is good. In case you don't know what those are, ASN's are unique identifiers for each individual network on the internet--the internet is made up of hundreds of thousands of these. ARIN's latest file lists over 394,000 in it's internet registry. To get you to Ormuco in Montreal, the ISP's compare routing data on the ASN's to try to string together the best possible path for you to take to get to any one particular ASN. For the less network saavy, think of them like highway numbers---you plot your course according to the established highways and make note of which exits to take to switch highways along the way when planning a cross-country trip. Those exits would be like the IP addresses of the exchanges between the networks. Just like there are multiple routes you can take to get to your destination, the same applies to the internet.

Stating any other service on the internet is good as proof "your internet is good" is not a proper assessment--especially when said service is not hosted on Ormuco's lines in Montreal. Stating things like that just demonstrates how little you understand about how the internet works, much less your grasp on the problems/solutions that have been discussed in these threads. At the very least, you should have your assigned routes specifically to the XIV servers you use properly analyzed.

As I and others have demonstrated over the past 18 or so months here (as well as several years in the XI forums and various other forums), there are known and documented issues in play that can and do in fact cause the issues you've been complaining about for at least the last 5 or 6 months. Despite all the posts (not only from me, but others here as well) re-affirming the signs of routing issues, demonstrating various ways to not only test for them but also methods to help get around them---I have yet to see any evidence that you have put forth due diligence to verify the actual stability of your connection specifically to this game's servers. So yes...I question the validity of your claim that "your internet" is in fact "good", at least in the scope of your routing to the FFXIV services.

We have been putting forth an effort to not only correct the issues we've spotted (which, FYI...my efforts actually resulted in fixing a big problem affecting our entire town, not to mention users in the Charlotte and Raleigh areas--another STATE mind you)--but we have also been working towards assisting others with either resolving their problems or finding workarounds for them. And these things HAVE been working for people...perhaps you should actually try some of the ideas people have been posting in these threads the last year or so instead of whining and complaining so much about how it is all SE's fault even though it has been demonstrated time and time again that is not necessarily true. You might be surprised just where it may lead if you put forth a little more effort.

So no... I won't be shutting up, nor do I plan on leaving the forums anytime soon.

Only seeing two servers with unusually high latency in the typical range of the Canadian world services IP's: 199.91.189.39 and 199.91.189.40 (returning 130-140ms response times, while all others are consistently returning around the 75-80 mark for me).

So, if you are on one of those two IP's, then yes... there appears to be some congestion there, but it shouldn't be exactly game breaking. Waiting for the results on the scans for the upper end of the subnet that holds the lobby servers and such.

My server (Midgard via 199.91.189.30) was consistently pinging in the 70's on a focused pass and my gameplay was solid (Aether via 199.91.189.74 was likewise solid around 80 and had no issues with lobby/character access either). If your response times aren't as tight, then you may need to look into things a bit just to check for potential issues along the route you take.

Got a few high hits on some odd IP's not typically showing up as in use when I play that were breaking the 100ms mark, but all else were pretty much in line with the other scan: 199.91.189.87 (125-ish), 199.91.189.88 (155-ish), 199.91.189.89 (160-ish), and 199.91.189.121 (115-ish). All others were sticking close to 80ms as well--including the 3 lobby servers.

So, it looks like there are 5 servers that may be at odds with the norm of the others right now:

199.91.189.39
199.91.189.40
199.91.189.87
199.91.189.88
199.91.189.89
199.91.189.121

If you are assigned one of them there may in fact be someting going on at the server or localized network. Otherwise, you may want to look at your routes.

Are you in the Oceana region? Just curious, since you are on a JP server and the regions you mentioned. Telstra has been showing issues spread out across Australia today: Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Hawthorn, Perth, Adelaide, Newmarket, Prahran, Bass Hill, and Chadstone. If you are coming across their lines at all, it could be part of the problem. Saw a few others logging issues around Perth, Sidney, Melbourne, and Brisbane as well--so it isn't just Telstra fighting congestion atm.

According to metrics tracked by Akamai, Australia is showing several elevated metrics right now (up 25% overall), and Asia is up 82% above the norm right now as well--pretty much everyone but Europe is showing elevated volume over all. So...the pipes may just be clogging up on the way there.

Just saying...have you properly ruled out traffic issues between you and the servers?

THAT there is showing MULTIPLE people DCing form the SERVER. I have one more that I am doing. Prooving that it is indeed SE's fault for this lag, and for the 90ks and 20002 errors. I really need people to shut up about it being our ISPs, when it isn't.

All that proves is that connections dropped...somewhere along the 10, 12, 17, or however many interconnection points they are taking to get there something, flaked out.

You need to get a firm grasp on that concept. Using my travel example earlier...is it the Drake Hotel's fault in Chicago if a traffic jam in Atlanta delays your arrival? Or a flight cancellation/delay from inclement weather?

That is essentially what many of you guys keep doing...blaming the destination and completely ignoring all the challenges that may impact the journey.

I have been experiencing disconnects for the last month or so, but only when I enter a dungeon. It does not happen all the time but it has been happening a lot, and like most MMO's the world servers and instance servers are pretty much in the same room. So at least for me it more then likely is on SE's end as too why I am getting dropped.
