Housing Ideas and Feature Requests

ahh ok thanks SeraviEdalborez that sounds like a good idea, I just wanted some good reasons for my group of people to come to my house and do some crafting and stuff there with me :p Now I only wish they had a craft for card games as well so I could play some card games in my house with my friends, that would be extra fun.

just a few suggestions. apologies if some are duplicates.

-fish tanks. with the ability to add some of the random fish the retainers love to bring you.

-bear skin rugs. perfect in front of the fireplace. mats could drop from Halitali HM bears.

-ability to turn off ceiling lights. i feel like im really wasting electricity with all of my lights and lamps on 24/7.

-ability to have separate wallpaper/flooring for partitioned rooms.

-radio/music players. we have clocks, why not radios that play FF or FF14 music in the background.

-small lofts for small houses. i know this may seem too much but i would love a little spiral staircase going up to a loft/bedroom.

-tree houses?!? i love the tree houses in the Shroud and they could make for some great apartment building for Person Housing :)

-ways of decorating your home with unneeded equipment. ie. wall-mounted swords. mannequins dressed in some old armor. they have them for crafting quests.

-ability to convert screenshots into photos. would be nice to have pictures of me and my friends in a frame on my desk or wall.

-ability to place minions as pets inside or outside of the home. maybe a dog house for outside or just the ability to come home to your pets waiting for you.

• Increase Mansion item limit. Our Mansion is almost as it limit and the house looks like empty =[
• In-game furniture sprites: Some things like tabletops (plates, cups, flowers, etc) that already exists in-game would be a nice addition.
• Option to change/add walls: we have partitions to create walls, but they are limited to default styles, and we can't put anything on them =[
• More outside space, at a mansion 40 units make it looks like empty. And more garden decoration options, not just some beast tribe themed furniture, but gardening furniture, like trees, flowers, fences
• New carpets and option to put carpets on stairs: And if they could be dyable as well would be a plus :D
• Housing Market Boark would be awesome!
• More outside house styles: We have a House at the Mist, but I would love to be able to use something like the gridania house styles.

Hi guys I bought a house and have got stuck into it, oh boy is this so much fun, I'm crafting basically one of everything just to have a good look then deciding on layout, the 200 item limit is going to be a bit of a challenge. All that I can think of at this stage is there's not enough fluffy stuff for the girls in the house. I would like to see some more comforting final fantasy bunny art designs, like for example the statues are all cold and demonic, you could make some more in a friendly colourful context. Also running backwards and forwards between the marketboard and my house just for repairs can be tiresome, but at least I'm meeting some of the local residents for some chatter :)

why don't you have a mender in your house?

being able to retrieve fixtures such as ceiling lights, wall, floors, etc.

being able to remove items like garuda sofa and put them into storage for later to keep things looking new.

I'd like if new players wanting to join our company could apply by visiting our house. Maybe by reading the plaque or sign in front of the house and having an option of sending an application through there. We've had a lot of people read our ads on the forums and not be able to find anyone in game to send an application through.

Miniature fishing ponds that can be placed on your front lawn.

you already can theres a option for open applications in the fc settings and when you go to the sign out side the place then click on company info bang theres summit application tab down the bottom...

Thanks for the info. I just recently took over a lot of higher ranked duties for our company and wasn't aware of that. Tried a search for it on the forums but nothing came up. Good to know!

Food item decorations, eh? Real or fake? If I saw food scattered around the house chances are it wouldn’t be a decoration for very long.

Joking aside, the development team is working to implement this, but they’ll be making it so you can create food as furnishings and it wouldn’t be the food you actually make to eat that is placed on your tables and such.

They are however looking into whether they can add elements where you can eat these objects you place on your table (don’t invite me over…).

Once I receive word on the implementation timing I’ll be sure to share. :)

Plenty of good ideas like displaying degree-angle & permitting the wall-supports & windows to be moved.

But especially, being able to 'flip' an item so you can place L-shaped items back to back (looking at you Oasis Couches...).

Or allowing us to snap to half-grid for those odd-wide pieces to be centered exactly proper.

I've been thinking about what I'd love to see added to houses and I remember my favorite mog house decoration from FFXI: My First Magic Kit.

I would love to see My First Conjury/Thaumaturgy/Arcanima Kits added to the game as decorations.

I'd really love it if they would make it so more stuff was able to be interacted with in the house.

Specifically things like the telescope or the bookcase. The night sky ingame is absolutely beautiful. It'd be wonderful if we could use the telescope furnishing or something to get a closer more detailed look at Eorzea's stunning night sky. :o

Probably already been said, but several servers could use new FC housing wards. Balmung barely has anything left, in any city state, and my FC and I are considering leaving just to have an option for FC housing. It would be nice to stay on such a populated server where resources aren't nearly as limited as they are on some of the servers we're having to consider moving to, but this is a feature of the game that my small contingent of friends and I have wanted to take part in.

The situation is the same on Hyperion. There are a handful of larges left, as well as a few smalls, but absolutely no mediums. Choices are extremely limited. I'm even more concerned with the fact that we are a high population server, and thus this may not be a huge priority for SE because most servers aren't really full yet. Another concern I have is about the pricing of the houses in the new wards. Will they be the original prices (before any devaluation)? If so, that's pretty rough.

Please ask them to add /throw as an option in addition to eating. FC food fights!

Interior:
Half height partitions
Quarter height pillars (to finish up a short wall or counter with ability to put objects on top like a pedestal, but in the style of Oasis, Riviera, and Glade pillars)
Ability to move all furniture flush against the walls (but especially fireplaces, pillars and counters)
Prompt while placing down Oasis, Riviera, and Glade partitions to take on the appearance of existing wallpaper.
Option to move or add ceiling lights
Bunk beds for the kids
Choco clocks (or would they be called Kweh-kweh clocks?)
Grandfather clocks
Elemental crystal chandeliers
Wooden chairs and dining tables with no metal accents
Smaller round dining tables

Exterior:
Birdbath or small stone fountain
Privacy trees or bushes that are in a row that count as one furnishing
Stone path to place on lawn like rugs
Lawn options like how you can change the floors inside

Misc:
Furniture/exterior surfaces painted with the appearance of more than one coat (no base color showing through, and more accurate coloring)
Metallic paint
Wood stains (for when you want the wood grain to show through)

I'm sure there is more, but this is all I can come up with for now. ;)

As I mentioned the other day, the team is working on adding food items that you can decorate your house with. They are planning to add furnishings that give a buff for a set number of times and have a limited number of charges.

With that said, regardless of whether or not the furnishings have a limitation, we’re looking to add a variety of furnishings that you can obtain a buff from by interacting with them, so please let us know your ideas for the types of furnishings and buffs you’d like to see!

How about a magic doorway that takes us back to the end of the 1.0 version of the game where things were more fun and the players weren't all segregated into static groups.

Cool. What about the plethora of Housing QoL Suggestions? Let us slide windows & wall-pillars at least... or snap to half-grid for those odd-wide pieces.

Are we ever going to get an increase in the amount of things we can have in the house? or at least make tabletop, wall mounts, rugs, and partitions not take up space slots?

Suggestion Crafting furniture that is actually has useful buffs to it as CP for lvl 1-40 is useless!

Well, i'd like to have a bookcase where you can actually take out a book and read some of Hydaelyn's lore. I would also like to have something like a guestbook where visitors can leave a message for the owner(s). (^_^ )-b

Ow, and a double bed would be nice for those who would want to sleep next to their partners, rather then "in" them. (^_~ )

^ Totally supporting this.

A suggestion I'd like to see implemented is have a furnishing that increases melding rate... doesn't need to be super high, but even 10% to all tiers of melding would make me feel better about penta-melding accessories... I know in the end it all boils down to whether or not you've angered the RNG Gods.

Ooo, a buff that places a Large floating FC Sigil above your head?
Increased Movement Speed?
Summon a household pet?

Can't have more than one buff naturally but should work together with medicated, FC actions and food buffs(for the most part):
Increase HP/MP/TP regen buffs for 30 min.(hey I can dream)
All the other buffs that can be added as actions by the FC(spritibond, extra seals, etc...).
Increase any of the stats for 30 min - similar way as food but only for a single stat - i.e. observing a vase of beautiful flowers should invigorate your mind, observing the map of eorzea humbles you from it's size thus increasing your piety and such like - should be some reason why something gives you a buff.
If you eat food at the table it should double the duration of it - you sat down and had a proper meal not a snack - or double the stat buff.

Prob more ideas there but still that's a start.

I agree with a possible materia melding buff from something inside the house would be cool yup.

Also the current housing is not bad, not super great but not bad.

Item limits for all housing should be doubled ....at least.

remove restrictons of "outdoor/indoor only"
remove restictions of "one /estate only" as well

In the future I really hope SE will mimic as many options and the complexity of Rifts housng. It is by far one of the best. Allow us to build things from scratch please, addition of many "building block materials" would be awsome. Having some premade furniture is great but allowing customers to actualy create is 100x better and tbh more "addictive"
That would mean however a huge revamp to how items can be manipulated/controlled/positioned but in the end it would be a far superior housing system.

Also in the future a true "dimension-like" area for fc or personal use would be really nice, not a small plot with such a small yard. We need to be able to create more...alot more!! Players are so so creative, housing can be that outlet if similar to Rift.

All items should be dyable, from the fountains/hottubs to the tiniest item....partitions, wall and floors, ceiling tiles etc...all of it.
Additional lighting effects /and intensity choices /floor

Trees for yards that are large, over the height of the house, not just sapling size plz...with the ability to color leaves or offered in a wide variety of colors

Abiliy to resize ANY item by sliding scale %

Too much "dead zone" areas around stairs etc that you cant tuck items /pillars right next to, always a space left which takes away from some effects.

I realize housing is in its infancy, or at least i hope its still considered that way.
SE please put more resources into expanding housing in size and especially complexity by a huge degree to match some other games quality and quantity of options.

Housing can and will have its own set "following" if done properly, well worth your time and investments

All of the above. +A buff for tome drops.

I guess it would be cool to have some outdoor tillage giving a gardening buff which enhances the effect of fertilizing with fishmeal.

Increased movement speed when not in combat would be cool aswell, be it on foot or when using a mount. We could get this from a treadmill-themed furnishing (Eorzea style, obviously).

Currently there are Free Companies recreating large dining tables to accomodate their members by placing some tables togethers, although it takes a lot of slots and usually leads to clipping issues. It would be really cool to have a large dining table which takes just 1 slot and gives a buff for food effects, be it exp gained when leveling, attributes and/or duration (although there's already a purchasable FC buff for the latter).

Honestly, strait up buffs to various traits are what we want. The primal furnishings should have these though. I'd think it'd be fitting for each one to give an elemental resistance buff for the element associated with each primal and extreme versions giving a higher bonus.

Side rant: how is it that there is no gear made from primal drops?

Not to be religious or anything lol, buuuut. How about "The Twelve" furnishings? Make our deity choice mean something. For example, If I worship Halone and place a Halone Altar in the house, I can pray to it and get a little STR buff. If you worship at your deity altar, you get some buff that relates to that member of the Twelve.

We could have an arcade machine that has mini-games or arcade titles that Square-Enix owns the rights to that give you buffs based on your score or clearing levels.

What I'd like to see most (sorry if already mentioned) is to have the teleport to your house for free (and I don't mean by setting it as your Home or Free destination). The cost of the plot and house itself should justify this enough as a standard feature of the FC housing plus you can anyway teleport free to all housing areas from main cities so this way you'll simply avoid the "detour". Could be even limited to only selected FC memebers based on ranking (let's say at least 8 - 10).

I would love a personal Training Dummy for our House for different Class training and DPS measurement :)
