Pffft cause the game wasnt dying before Abyssea??? >.>Quote:
Recently SE nuked about 3/5ths their playerbase in XI with Abysea changing the game, costing them millions of dollars of revenues a month.
Only ppl who quit were the dumb dumbs but hurt that the lvl cap was raised, which translated to all that stupid gear they collected would be obsolete, by being replaced with NEW stuff. Honestly If you quit for this reason, then good riddance. So you werent that special little snow flake anymore. Boo Hoo!
The Thing that made Abbyssea stand out was that it was FINALLY FFXI content that didnt have piss poor drop rates anymore....
The ONLY reason ANYONE thought older non COP FFXI was hard, was because of 1% drop rates. What does that mean? That you have to spam the same content for nearly a YEAR hoping to get the gear you wanted. Not because it was HARD, but because since you left empty handed it gave you the ILLUSION that you worked really hard, by grinding for months.
Abyssea did away with that, by having hi drop rates. 1% drop rates does not make a "challenge". The only thing that is challenging in that regard is equiping your character the way you want.
Abyssea made a lot of ppl care again. And most of all made the game FUN again. And not a career.
I agree with this completely. I don't like seeing this in any MMO. There is a tier of gamer that just won't like anything cause its too "easy". I for one, don't want to spend hours and hours trying to get something done just to fail ....there's no fun in that, we get enough of that in real life.
No offense buddy but its people like you that makes it hard so hard for SE to balance the game out I mean if you're wanting to solo so much why play a MMORPG at all lol MMO means Massive Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. If your so dead set on playing solo try a Offline version of FF like FFXIII or the new one coming out Final Fantasy vs XIII " http://www.ign.com/games/final-fanta...iii/ps3-826846 "
.
Not to mention Abyssea expansions were made by Yoshi-P in the short time that Tanaka was moved to FFXIV ...i loved those expansions :D cool looking AFs and finally equipment that didn't have only +1DEX or something dumb like that...if Yoshi-P created the upgrading system for AF i hope he uses that in FFXIV as well together with the re-coloring of AF
I quit FF 11 cause i heard 14 was gonna be nothing like 11.
Lol, COP back in the times of Hardship.. was so hard I delvled to 29 20 times! XDQuote:

sorry but if you didn't like ffxi then you just simply don't like mmo's. the little games we are getting now aren't mmo's. so if all of a sudden now you feel like your some kinda gamer and yet couldn't enjoy the greatest mmo's that every existed then you are all truly diluted.
for the sake of argument i hope it does! Hence why 11 lasted for 10 years and still going strong.

Is what I have to say about that.
Im tired of gaming industries trying to always bring new players. They make game more casual to brng more New players.
Why cant they stay the way they build their reputation in first place! Why dont stay with the mass of regular fans who will pay for your game for the next 5-6 years. No, everyone wants the part of the cake so no one have real unique game. All this because the men in Tie suit told the Dev's its better to go that way because its worked for other firme. The Era of creation and real imagination is dead. I dont care for new players, i want the game look like a Final Fantasy. Not a single copy-paste of other casual and to Easy game.
Does the game was REALLy bad? just small lack in content and lag issues. None of the problem with 1.0 could not be fix. I trully enjoy the fighting system. Now they rebuilt it the same way as any other MMO on the market. Its can be any game with any title just in FF universe. I would have enjoy more a coming back to XI style then WoW. Or simply fix the small issue.
A small lack of content and lag issues? Are you really claiming that was the extent of the problems in 1.0? Seriously? We didn't even have basic UI functions for several months, and even those fixes were flawed. The developers themselves said the the 1.0 engine could not handle proper fixes or additional content, that is why they had to rebuild it from the ground up. Seriously, what realty did you slide in from?
You're both assuming that this is my first and only character, which it isn't.
Nice double standard, though. You say the game was bad, and how dare anyone disagree with you. I say the game was bad, and I get slammed for not having everything capped at level 50.
For your information, my first character's name was Kiki Eekiki. I played as that character starting with the collector's edition release, and had every combat class at rank 50 except for THM, which was 47. I deleted it and started over because I didn't like the voice I'd chosen. -_-;; This is the point I got to before 2.0 was announced.
Not that it matters to you.
Oh God, not this again! "I don't want FFIXV to be FFXI, you know, because I can't play FFXI, I was a DRG T_T" jeez! get over it.
No one should ever play Dragoon anyways, bad job, attracts bad players.
Yeah, just what I thought (this doesn't mean offense)...
XI fanboys = $ (Well they are an XI whore)
Hardcore players = $$ (They don't mind about it as long as they enjoy the hell out of it)
Casual players = $$$$ (Yes! They still have stuff they can get done in their character progression)
that is the whole point in what he is saying. what is it with people. how can you say the game failed so now we are getting a change. no no ...the game engine failed, the devs failed in launching a complete mmo. that was the issue, not the type of mmo it was and what type of game players it was crafted towards. it could of launched looking just like 2.0, it could of had the ability to create content and then there would of been some. it had nothing to do with ..it didn't have solo content or it was too hard, or it had to much party play or NM's were to hard for a solo player to do.
these are complaints on top of what really was an issue that simply would of probably been ignored and still should of been. they could of stayed on track with what type of mmo it would of been but fix the problems the game had even if they had to rebuild from scratch. delete and rebuild but exactly same as the direction it was going. 16man grinds and what ever else ...for all you know we got exactly the same content in 2.0 we were going to get but they changed the directions completely to content for all to content for only casuals.
you can't say go back to ffxi cause it's not the same mmo, just like you can't say ffxiv 1.0 is in the same direction it was going that it is going for 2.0. but that had nothing to do with it's fail. a empty pool with a crack is a empty pool with a crack ..it doesn't matter what type of pool it is. and that is all that is being said here, they didn't just destroy the pool and rebuild it, they destroyed it and built a totally different one right under its location.
Whenever an XI fanboy tells someone ARR is awful.
