I suspect SE is referring not to the thousands of us per server who played in 2012, but the possibly tens of thousands per server who didn't pay, and maybe stopped playing within months of launch. Their dormant characters were moved with the server merge, too.

According to the roadmap, everyone who played version 1 ("FFXIV service account holders") qualifies to play in beta phase 3. This is also when SE opens up "overseas" (not Japan) "data centers" (servers).

If I can get Altera transferred from Sargatanas to Balmung is pretty much the one thing I would love to know

I'm just interested in how much people will rethink the importance of "regional servers" when we hit Beta, because I'm fairly certain the Beta servers are all going to still be in Japan.

Then we will see how much those milleseconds saved seem to matter when we have a decent server to work with in the first place, also sans animation lock.

Very true.

edit: nvm, found my answer in an ealier post

They are just making *some* new servers that will be new player only. Legacy members won't be able to join new player only servers with their legacy characters, they would have to create new characters. It's been known for a while and it's no big deal. There will be tons of servers legacy members can join. There will probably only be a few servers that are dedicated for new players only.

We all know that, once more. We just want to be sure that, among this "tons of servers" we will be able to join, some of them are localized. It's all ! ;-)

But as the OP said, I found a french CM post from september telling us that SE will decide this kind of thing based on beta participation. So, wait&see.

beta 3 would have regional servers and i think beta 4 save our char information. So i think SE said maybe at beta 4 w/e you made your char look like and the world you pick you stuck on but i waiting for more information on if we can pick a regional servers or if we stuck in JP only worlds like 1.0 which would suck.

That what most of us want to know.
