Nah, that's called coherency. None of the base classes needed unlocks, why would a new base class need an unlock?
There are many things that could be done, the guild staff could move into one of the cities, the guild could be set in a completely new city too, but the seventy-seven caravans would see that the weapons are sold wherever it's needed.
There are ways of gracefully handling adding a new class, putting it behind some bs quest is not one of them given how no other class was hidden behind a quest.
It doesnt have to be a quest - but it has to be shown / done. Your caravan samurais are coming in idea would be cool. But if I just installed the expansion and boom all the cities are stocked with Samurai weapons I will call bs lol
+1 for using caravans :D I feel SE should make a trade network.. moar caravan usage!
After all the work they've done? HA. You mean, the work they should have done in the first place? Appreciation is earned pal.
It's not wrong to expect that Arcanist would have needed to been unlocked in some fashion. It should not be a base class because it wasn't put in at launch. What was stopping me from putting on an Arcanist weapon before? How come I can now all of a sudden? I don't find this acceptable. New classes/jobs should have an unlock quest. Base class or not.
Given the size of the team, and how their other games dev cycles are being slowed down to a crawl because of this mess. I expect quality, not quick and easy.
Out of curiosity, if you had a curved blade class, a sword-and-shield class, and a rapier class all among Swordsman, what would you call them, and how do you think that would go for the Japanese titles?
Fencer and Gladiator are already set for us... "Ronin" could go by the way of Ninja or Samurai, or maybe Ninja will stem from Thief or Scout, etc. Either way it's hard to get that 'perfect fit' for the curved blade class title.
Perhaps that was a poor choice of words on my part. However you get the drift. Why so few Arcanist's before, and now everyone is invited to take up the book? These are things they could have explained through an introductory quest. Learning the first few spells and gaining some background knowledge on the roll.
i dont see why this is a reason to get you panties in a twist. ther were lots of people in 1.0 that maxed their jobs and classes. this at least gives them something to do that will give them the full 2.0 experience. dont come down on this so hard. i'm sure future expansions will be something to work for.
I'm not mad at them honestly, but i'm disappointed. I have high standards. I figured people would have been on board with a quest, considering how much people have been begging for more solo oriented lore quests/leveling. This forum really confuses me a lot.
Anyways, I must retire for the evening because i'm tired.
its one class.... if it were three and a year after the release of ARR, i would be right beside you. let them get their feet on the ground after the 1.0 hoopla...
