We're told by Cid and it is known to history that the Allagan Empire used a machine to seal Bahamut. The Twelve is never mentioned to having played a part in his sealing. And there's no history of Bahamut being sealed before the Allagan Empire. What I said in another thread was maybe the Allagan Empire was at war with the Dravnians and the Dravnians summoned Bahamut, he was so strong that all the Allagans could do to survive was seal Bahamut away.

Also yeah the Sylphs have a Primal and could summon it they wanted, I believe a NPC Sylph tells you this in Gridania during one of the quests. The reason people assume Ramuh is the Lightning Bolt crest on their buildings and their currency. Someone mentioned that Sylphs were Lightning-associated, but that's all I've heard about them. Ramuh is definitely the Thunder primal though, since we've seen his artwork.

Also, maybe the 3 symbols on the Ququroon coin mean that they'll have an Astral/Umbral Primal? Since they each consist of 3 elements.

Main storyline with companion, near the end when you head out to assist your companion with the fight to try and retake Ala Mhigo. The female Hyur leader mentions that all the people with the ability of the echo all all somehow related to the Garlean Empire. I Clearly remember going "WHAT? I'm somehow related to those blasphemous fools that want to destroy my 'now' home?" SO me saying that we are from there might be slightly off but we are somehow tied into the Garlean Empire. Now that I'm thinking on this I'm getting a FF6 Terra vibe going on. An interesting prospect I might add if they use a similar idea.

Unless this was mentioned in the Ul'dah or Gridania main storylines, I don't recall this. I rewatched every cutscene I had done the two days prior to the end of the game because I was recording them, and I think something like this would have stuck out.

Edit: I was making my post before Wilksha posted, I'll check that cutscene out tonight.

I don't have the old website to refer to, but the original FFXIV website mentions that Adventurers have wandered across Eorzea for quite a while, so they're not new to the area. Now it could very well be that we're refugees from the now Garlean-occupied Ala Mhigo, but our origins are never really mentioned. The awakening of the Echo power started during the time the events surrounding Silvertear Lake, but more people started being affected by it at a more rapid pace around the time of the start of the game.

Cid could be wrong. It's not like he was actually there :D Dalamud really did look like a machine but then again the spell was undeniably reforming a case that looked exactly like dalamud around Bahamut in the CGI.

He wasn't there but his time with his father and the Garlean Empire his knowledge of everything far exceeds our own. There's nothing wrong with Loiusoix and the Circle of Knowing having their magic based seal upon the machine/weapon used to seal Bahamut. The outcome would be the same, but the magic failed, the machine didn't. Of course Bahamut knew what was coming when he saw the seal being formed and was given aether/power from our slaying of Ifrit and Garuda and Van Darnus' and his VIIth harnessing aether from all around Eorzea. Totally different times and circumstances. If we could only read the Allagan Tomestones that Van Darnus and the Garleans got to read, probably explains everything :(

But to be fair, they weren't there either. :P Either way, hopefully it will all be revealed in ARR!

Gonna come totally out of left field here and mention that in the game Secret of Mana the elemental Sylph was tied to wind and lightning.

(Yes I know, different series entirely... but they had moogles so there is precedent for cross-over, not to mention the prequel to the game was translated as a Final Fantasy title for the gameboy.)

Without adding a new race, Sylphs are pretty much all that are left to represent lightning. Goblins are fire, Qiqirn are earth, Moogles already summoned Moggle Mog... Now, sure, the Sylphs said that the primals darken hearts and should never be called and they'd never stoop to that - but that was before Bahamut showed up and just completely wrecked them. I'd say at least a fraction of them would fall from grace and demand revenge...
