you can say whatever you want but still, you need to "level up" again in those and the most efficient way to do it is litterally fate farm, dropping the items for relics step ? fate farm
duels ? those are fate too but you tackle them alone (and you need to participate in specific fate to be able to take them on)
i could agree on BA/CLL/DR part (DRS was a mistake imo) but you'll never make me believe that anything in field exploration couldn't be put in the open world (you know a part of the game that is lacking and ever more since field exploration exist)

Yea we had a Tomestone Relic, but why HMMMM because people cried and complained about the Bozja grind so Square deceided to go this route

That is literally all there is to it.
Dawntrail does have a good amount of content, and the content is not bad. But it is not engaging.
If the content by itself is bland, then engagement will drop. XIV has a bad habit of railroad the players into the content they want them to do, it is a schedule made to be a 'flavor of the month' content.

Take 7.2 release as an example.
We will have a week with Extremes, MSQ, and Unreal. When that's done, then Savage is unlocked. Now, Savage takes some time, so until the next content comes it will take 20 days. Now players are doing the Cosmic Exploration. To keep engagement, now we wait 30 days and then give them Occult Crescent.

... Why would players even feel engaged if they are being hand-holded into content? Worse even is, what if you are a player who does not like Crafting? Now it is 20 days with Cosmic Exploration, after you have already burnt out the previous PvE content given. What if you are not a player who wants to engage with Hardcore content? Well, then you need to wait 20 days until Cosmic Exploration and 50 days from patch launch, to do Occult Crescent.

This helps no one, and as a matter of fact makes the fun of the content worse. Adding it to how combat has been stuck with a formula, the gameplay does not feel as good and everything seems to be repetitive or either mind-numb or overcomplex, as there's no in between, you build a recipe for content do not feel engaging at all. Arcadium was very well received because it was engaging even in Normal. We need to see more of that, and hope they keep it up or spread over other areas of the game.

In sum:

The Game needs to feel like a Game again.

It still doesnt change the fact that the quantity increased while the quality decreased.
But lets compare 3.0-3.1 with 4.0-4.1 ,5.0-5.1 ... ect

We lost: 1 Dungeon, Jobquest replaced by Rolequest
We got for it: 1 Ultimate, 1 Chaotic Raid

Its on you that you dont raid. You wont believe how many people actually do ultimates, savage and the new chaotic raid. Its more than just a few %.

And for the DT relic. Is it really that much different compared to a Anima weapon? I would say spamming the Aetherochemical Research Facility is way worse.

I barely see people disagreeing on these topics. When I see them disagree, it's mostly because some people want to have fights with other players for the sake of having fights. The same topics being brought up over and over again is a pretty clear sign that a consistent level of disagreement exists. Of course there will always be one person who genuinely disagrees, but that's one person. Maybe two. Not enough to say that players disagree a lot.

I'm aware you meant the whole expansion, but in FFXIV I believe it's important to acknowledge that their release schedule isn't like other MMOs. They for some reason delay the release of most expansion content till the midway point of the expansion which causes a whole lot of dead time for anything but raiders (and raiders who don't clear fast at that as I imagine most raiders have been caught up for a while now).
I accept that not doing raiding content is on me and I don't begrudge them creating it. It is however something the devs should consider because of their release schedule that the first half of an expansions lifespan is almost entirely just raiding content. It seems strange to me not to diversify it since if you don't, you have situations like now where for various reasons the previous expansion did not have a lot of grindable repeatable content and you have to wait till halfway through the next expansion for that kind of thing. It's very clearly causing issues for a large amount of the player base as they would like to do something different than raids and extremes.
I don't believe quantity nor quality matter as much as *perceived* quantity and quality, which is perceived as very bad right now since most of DT's advertised content is still not out.

As for relics, I don't personally care what the grind is. I just like meme'ing on EW.

I am currently at the point where I remain unsubbed more than I am subbed, and feel maybe it is time to just move on. Yes, I've invested thousands of hours and (and dollars) in this game for over a decade, but I think it is running its course. The devs are obviously committed to sticking to the current content structure, while other games deliver more content on a quicker basis, especially content that is meant to be long-term. It is hard to let go, but ultimately it just may be time.

Unsubbing , at the end of the day, is the best answer. Complaining on the forums is more for players like me who just want to kill time at work, but devs do not read or care about this place's sentiments at all.
The only thing they will listen too is the financial bottom line. So if you don't have to pay your subscription, don't. Best way of communicating with Yoshi P.

What are you talking about? There's been a focus on raiding and ultimates, class homongenization and 2 minute burst was all to satisfy the raiders, and resulted in a worse product as a whole.

i think they are missing out a lot of opportunities to create fun content. More 4 vs 4 pvp modes aside of "push a crystal" would be nice.
They could drop a "classic coils" event, that makes the bosses drop event-exclusive gear, when cleared synced. Same for alex or other old kinds of content, that noone has done in 5+ years (let people that dont raid get the same stuff for grinding 1000 fates or something, so they cant complain about being locked out)
They could also add CC-like monthly trophies and rewards for people that rank high in deep dungeons, let them get unique titles, gear, plates, mounts aswell

i dont know, they have the fundament for countless of good events or things for people to farm and enjoy, but they dont make use of any of it.
Best they do is moogle tome events for crap, that 90% of people already finished collecting years ago :c
