Sometimes it's almost instant, I started a dungeon today and when the wall dropped, everyone started running immediately. The in-duty portraits appeared, but disappeared less than half a second after appearing.

UX doesn't seem to be their forte in general. Just look at the Island Sanctuary menus when it first released: trying to plan which items to craft was a nightmare because you couldn't see the item stats while planning. You had to either memorise which items you needed to craft, or note them somewhere. Thank god they fixed that.
I've been having issues with commendations since this was implemented. Sometimes the window pops up at the end, sometimes it just....doesn't. And I can't comm people the regular way if it's turned on??
Like I click the little notice for commendations and nothing happens. Half the time the portraits auto pop at the end.
And it's not lag, loot window works fine, leaving the dungeon works fine. Something ain't right lol
From what I can tell, the portraits will (thankfully) disappear as soon as someone grabs enmity from a mob.
At least I've observed that in trials, not sure what would cause that in dungeons where mobs don't spawn right next to the entrance, but there's probably another mechanic like that.
Is there a way to save and keep your portraits for each job or is it the same from when crystalline conflict came out?
it's a complicated process, that can break easily once you've made a single change that affects stats, or look.
[TLDR: You need to make sure you're Gearset is up to date, Glamour is set to as you want it. Linked or not linked to a plate. and then edit/save the portrait to said Class/Job/Gearset.
and then have the use as instant portrait, and you'll be set. as long as everything is as depicted in the portrait, cause it takes what your active gear looks like. if something is off. it'll reset to default.]
