Stories that focus on the individual should never require parties.

Yeah I do live on a wonderful server where people shout, organize parties, because tons of people still need AF and others do help. I feel sorry for you, but that doesn't mean I want to give up content I enjoy just so you can get around your personal issue. You are in a very small minority, most people do have AF for the jobs they play and they got a group to do it.

I still haven't bothered to do AF for the jobs I don't need, most people I play with regularly have all of their AF. But when it comes time to do it my first step isn't going to be begging people for help, it is going to be doing some work on my own to help organize a party with others who need it. Because people appreciate that, and are much more willing to help the more a person does to organize the group before asking for help from those who are just there to help.

I know I do when I help people, which I do and there are dozens of people on Ridill who I've helped get AF who I don't even know.

Now now, there's no need to get all worked up about this. And if you didn't mean to sound that way, then I apologize. Written language can sometimes come across wrong. You have to understand that it also depends from server to server. I''ve heard stories of some servers where there are barely any shouts for anything while others are almost being spammed by it. (Hello Balmung! XD).

Besides, it's not really a matter of being social or not. And I'm sur Viion can get those group content done (eventually, even if it takes him/her ages to do so). It just sometimes takes ages to find a group willing to do this. And I too have friends but they are not always that willing to help me, even though I help them all the time. It all comes down to one thing...LUCK!

Yes luck, like almost everything in life. You can be lucky to find the best linkshell or a lot of friends that are willing to help you. But please consider that not everyone seems to be as lucky as to find a group of merry people willing to help others.

I'm pointing out once more that as an european I can find the people to do content with. Perhaps Viion has that same issue, I don't know and I'm not going to speculate on it. But it is often not that easy. Most of the group content appears in uldah, when it's almost time for me to call it a night. And most of my friends are from the US, which means different time zones. Please do consider, that people do have friends but they have their own daily schedule. And not everyone has a list of people that conveniently joins together to do things. I'm currently still looking for said dream team.

Sounds like the Content Finder will be perfect for you.

that solo story missions were REALLY bad, no excitement or danger at all
MMOS are social games, not single player games
(or single player games with tacked on endgame, im looking at you SWTOR)
if you only know people that wont help you, look for new people! its as easy as that

just today i helped some people with their final paladin quest, its really no witchcraft, just do some homework what good LS are on your server and join one, we even have LS lists here in the forum
BUT don't expect to waltz in and get everything you need done without helping others too

and @OP since you are on masamune, Distantworld is a nice LS i am in as well, shoot them a tell im sure they let you join and help out

in the worst case content finder will come anyway with 2.0

Agree. I have the same issue as OP, in that I find it hard to get parties together with the limited play time I've had in the last few months.

However, making things Solo isn't the way forward. We just need content finder, 2.0 will be fine.

The dev team could however drop the group specs for group content about a week before the destruction of everything, allowing solo/casual players to go through the story, just without the rewards.

My View is simple..

I want lots to do solo other then farm/grind something, and do pointless quests..
I want long challenging and interesting quests lines all about the lore, world and that unlock more solo and group content.

I Also want lots of end game group content, quests and raids.
That you do as a team, that unlocks more solo and group content.

When it comes to solo content, it is very hard to make it challenging because you need to make sure all class can do it, it will be challenging for WHM and it might be faceroll on WAR, solo content is never challenging.

There are reason why seasonal events are so easy to do when they could add abit to spice it up for challenge easy, but no they can't do that because they have to make sure level 1 players can finish as well, in exchange it feels like cakewalk to most of us.

Let's talk Castrum Novum BCNM for example, how are you supposed to dumb it down to solo difficulty so that a WHM can solo it while making it challenge still for other class?

Solo content isn't the way to go, Light parties maybe. Solo, not really.

You reduce the stats so classes can do it, simple... It aint rocket science. Many games do this, GW2 being the most notable as well as Diablo 3.

The content finder is the same with the added bonus of being cross server, hopefully it works and hopefully more people join and stick with the game and need stuff even if they did it all in 1.0, but ya know its all "hope".

I don't play D3, but i will comment about GW2, In GW2 all class is as strong as another, there are no holy trinities there (Support, Tank, DD), everyone have solo capabilities, the game really revolve around the abilities to solo, Whereas in FFXIV we have jobs like PLD that can't damage for shit, BLM that can't take hit for shit, BRD that can't combo in close range that will hinders his ability to solo.

While yes you might argue. GW2 job balancing is better and should be enforced, take a look at the community, there are basically little to zero communcation ingame because everyone is busy doing their own thing, doing chain quests alone, participating in dynamic quests alone (yes, it doesnt feels alone but u ignore another anyway and do your own thing.)

Granted, for people that have little time, the game might be alot more fun because you can progress and do alot of stuff in the short time you have. But, will it be something you play for long period of time? Will you be investing years upon it?

What kept people playing in this game or FFXI was the community, everyone came back because they miss playing with others and it should be that way. Playing and interracting with others is the point of playing MMO from my point of view (before people start calling me out for forcing my view)

Depends really if they make a good system which encompasses all party based content and easy to use at a click of a button (like they say they are) then it will be infinitely better than the search we have now.

Of course its hard to get excited about UI and menus given what we currently have, like you say the latest addition "search" they made a pigs ear of and nobody used it.
