The dev team did a fantastic job on the MNK rework. I love it.

If we get rid of most of a BLM's cast times, would that make the job better because it is less restrictive?

I'm going to say just one thing, if you did not like the positionals, you had other jobs to go for. Now, for someone who likes positionals, there is nothing.

No, I enjoy several jobs, even jobs with less positionals, however, it is still a good thing to have a variety and the challenge of landing positionals is something that drew people to use Monk in the first place. Why take that away?

Positionals was NOT what drew me to MNK. It was always the speed!

Its speed isn't even unique to MNK anymore though. Mechanically, NIN and SAM have it. And in terms of APM, MNK is the 2nd lowest of the melee DPS so it doesn't even have that either. Nothing about MNK really feels "fast" right now outside of the accelerated pace of your GCDs.

This is wrong.
Positionals have nothing to do with How dev. team designed the mechanics.
Anything they would throw at us, we will make our positionals work, one way or another.
Figure it out how to squeeze positionals into these tight mechs are challenging and fun, always has been, oh sorry, HAD been.

Also, Doing positionals on P1S is a joke, you can literally do the positionals the whole fight, except if you get 3 or 8 sec red chain or blue chain on Fourfold Shackles. I mean, I did that so there is no reason others can’t.
Intemperance is no problem as well, as long as you know the angle you need to hit.
And Dart boards are no big deal, all you need to do is figure out the safe spot in your head on your own, not follow others.
That way you’ll know how much you can squeeze and know exactly when you should scooch to safe spot.

2 positionals are obviously not enough.
It is not the right amount, not even close.

NOT a fan of the PB/Blitz mechanic. Not for monk, anyway. It honestly feels to me that this is what Ninja Mudras should have been from the get-go. Not handsigns (we really don’t need Naruto influences here) but attacks, after which depending on the order of the lights you get different effects.

As it is with Monk, it honestly feels clunky having to hit PB, then pay attention to which forms I’m hitting before hitting the replaced Blitz button. I honestly think that whether the Blitz attack is AE or single target should have been based on whether the three attacks were AE or single target.

As someone who has played Monk since 2.0, mostly on controller but briefly dabbled with keyboard, I liked having the positionals but their lack is not any kind of deal for me at all. I liked having extra damage from the flank/rear but it actually felt more like I was being punished for soloing overworld trash (soloing FATES, daily hunts, etc) instead of getting a bonus for being grouped with a tank.

You honestly think positionals are the same thing for melee as cast times are for casters... NO.
That is not the equivalent here or in anything else you may play, where they actually bother with positionals. Can we stop this kind nonsense already.

Cast times restrict where a caster can stand, if you know a mechanic is coming out and where it is going to hit, you wouldn't start a cast in that area, this is especially true for Black Mage where they like to stand still as much as possible, predicting/knowing where mechanics are going to hit and not standing there. They also have ways to mitigate the lack of movement by giving you movement, via Swiftcast among other things.

Positionals restrict movement in that knowing how a boss moves for a mechanic can influence where you start moving. This was especially true for Monk when they had positionals on everything. They had to be in certain spots on the boss and predicting/knowing where those spots were going to be means you can pre-plan and adjust your movement to adjust to that. They also have ways to mitigate the punishment if you are unable to for one reason or another via True North among other things.

Again, just because YOU do not like positionals does not mean they are a bad mechanic. You can now do the same comparison for casters, BLM is the (old) Monk of Casters, RDM is the DRG of Casters and SMN is the rest of the melee. This is the important bit. There is a caster for everyone, whether you like the heavy casting or you want more insta casts. Why can you not have a melee that has lots of positionals and have a spectrum going down to barely any cast times.

I know when some of you type this stuff out it makes perfect sense to you, but living and posting in this bubble absolutely removes you from reality...
