No one is moving to another state to change it's politics. No one actually defines their lives this way. Get off of the internet for a minute.

Do not underestimate some ... forces in big companies. :)
Cheers
Strongly disagree.
It's a way to avoid burnout. And it's SE telling us they are not going to make 'abusive content' designed to turn us into copium junkies. Rather, they tell a story, then they work on getting out the next chapter of that story. We complete the story, and then while we wait for the next chapter, we enjoy the rest of life.
But the mere fact that you mention that street corner Copium dealer Ian strongly implies this is just a troll thread.
so you think he should take the WoW approach and end up with a player base that hates everything about the game they are addicted to? ask anyone who plays, no one ever says they are happy playing WoW
hard pass on that. WoW and its need to be worshipped on a daily basis is what burnt me out on that job. and make no mistake, WoW is a job, you miss a day and you are behind. games are for enjoyment and entertainment. the leadership at WoW was so busy trying to keep people addicted that they forgot how make things fun.
if you have that much of a problem having fun, I am sure you can go back. when you decide to have fun again, FFxiv will still be here, and you can have fun again ^^
I was there 3000 years ago (well back in 99 anyway) in EQ. I think it was easier to tell yourself you didn't have to camp 48 hours the same place holder mob for a chance to spawn a rare mob that had a rare drop on top. The sheer amount of time investment needed was a barrier in itself.
WoW just refined the formula for hooking the player and the never ending treadmill. Imagine people hooked enough that they rerun the same freaking dungeon hundred of times for a CHANCE at a +goodener version of the same item they already have. At this point, Blizzard is not running an MMO, it is running a gacha game.
Doesn't look like it's done much damage to me...

Not bad. People seem to really fall for the WoW Player bait threads recently.
