Eden 8 ( Spoilers) Ummm....Square?

This drama for some skin... seriously... everything is in the way you consider skin and body, it is not a "truth" it is not "universal" (if it be, how would you consider amazionian tribes who live mostly naked?).

Characters as Ryne, Shiva or wathever are not some kind of model or truth to be followed, it is something to be considered as a myth, some kind of metaphor.

All kind of nymphs are always as fascinating they have to be feared. And if they are naked, it is as a metaphor of the bare Nature, not as some kind of toy.

(And talking about pedophilia when Ryne is 16-17 y.o. Seriously?)

So, I just searched the web for "swimsuits for teen girls."

To be fair on Ryne's age has there been ANY confirmation of what her age is? Because people are throwing out a whole decades worth of variation in terms of numbers and it all seems to be down to personal interpretation. (Though to the people saying she's over 16 I'm kinda flabbergasted at because she definitely acts younger than that.) About the only concrete indication of her age we have is the twitter punishment of the people who posted modded nudes of her (twitter is 18+ friendly, so it's not because of the nudity itself being an issue) and SE following that up by banning those people in game as well - which indicates some taboo was broken. Though whether or not it was over bad publicity or not is anyone's guess.

She states during the Eden's Verse quests that the only other people she knows around her age are Alphinaud and Alisaie so she, and by extension Gaia, should be around 16-ish. However, that is an inference based off of the available evidence. In so far as I know, there is no hard number given in regards to her age in the game. Perhaps when the next lorebook is released.

Its not BS..people can feel a bit bad about having a character that is not adult being shown that way. Heck I would even find it bad to have a character that is really modest and suddenly turns up half naked after such a transformation. Its just imo not necessary. A nice little dress would not have destroyed anything in this fight.

About the age: First she would still be underage and second we live in a time bubble. Seemingly barely any time as gone on according to some writers so Alphinaud and Alisaie might still be 16.

In the end its the devs that go out of their way to say that its bad to lewd Lalas (because people outside of FF14 could see these pictures as children) and to do that to underage characters...and then turn around and create a look for a underage girl that rivals even some of the old primals..

And this form is even tame compared to the one she has in savage. I just dont understand why it would be bad to have her simply be covered. Her attacks and everything would still be the same and this would also fit a bit more with the "saint" part of Shiva.

I cant speak for everyone but I believe that alot of the problem a few of us have with this, is that it was only recently that Yoshida went on a rant about using certain mods on characters like Ryne or Lalas. Which shows that they dont want them to be seen in that way. Yet they do it with her. Why not have Shiva without her? Why not give her a bit more of a outfit? Of course it could be purity (but then her dragon lover is tangled with her body..) but why do that when you went out of your way to talk that long about people doing such stuff?

I mean if that is fine now then why are simple pictures of her naked not fine? It could be a sign of purity right? ;) If they had not ranted like that then this thread would probably not exit like that or at least less. But they needed to tell us how its bad (and I do agree with them because Ryne is still not an adult and looks quite young too) and yet turn around and create that..

From what I can see, they don't want a completely naked depiction (or perhaps even worse kinds via mods). There is no completely naked depiction in the game as far as I can tell, not even in Savage of E8. There is always some kind of covering somewhere.

So what's Japans age of consent again?

The legal age where I am from is 16, but the outfit in savage (or rather the lack of one) is still a bit much imo.

Although this isn’t the first time squeenix has had something questionable. Past-Alma in the ivalice raids looks even younger and she’s pregnant, the father looking like he’s in his mid 20s to 30s >.<
