You'd rather they say "get to the back of the line I am more important" while also crashing your market by 50k, kicking your puppy and establishing a much lower price point?

This person wants to sell their items. You are going to be undercut no matter what. Why would you prefer that undercut to be huge and devalue your item, instead of a mere 1 gil that leaves you open to sales from any buyer in your retainers location?

What is point of getting mad if someone places item 1 gil below what selling yours for. If there retainer is not in same city selling item your in. It cost more than 1 gil to teleport to city its being sold in. For me if having to much junk and need to get rid of if fast I will list it for dirt cheap just make room for other stuff. Like sold other day bunch stuff for 2k when next lowest was 16k just to make room. Hardest part is got go to every server in world visit and look at there boards to get idea what sell items for.

There is no logical reason to be mad about the 1-gil undercutters. Doesn't change the fact that many people, myself included, hate 1-gil undercutters and will not buy from them. It's a psychological thing, not a logical thing, but it is a thing. Undercutting by massive amounts is of course just stupid, but there is a middle ground of reasonably lowering your price by small increments without being that guy that shoves his 1 gil in your face as if to say "yeah you like that, I beat you by one gil, what you gonna do about it?" Obviously they are probably not thinking that, but hot damn you feel like they are!

Actually some people don't undercut. I see listing for items where 6 people will all post at the same price. Some people play nice. I also think you over value people caring about tax that much. This game is pretty casual and I am not even sure most people remember tax per city. The tax is just too low.


So I should just suck it up and let that person walk all over me. They don't have enough gil for an item to drop 50k, they shouldn't be getting involved in it.

How is that not maximizing profits? You're ensuring your product is at the top with as little change in price as possible. It's also not a "I am more important" mentality. It's a "get my product seen first" mentality. Those are not the same thing.

Or, they waited until people stopped being children about the price and put it back up for the "maximized profit" price, is the far more likely scenario. Which means they caused you to lose money because you were throwing a tantrum about someone undercutting by 1gil. Sounds like they won, to me.

Who said I was worried about maximize profit? I question the person undercutting. They aren't trying to convince people on the fence about buying by adjusting the price. Increasing their product flow.


Actually considering I have some left on MB and they never came back. It was a win for the buyers and a little win for me since I don't have to see them on the MB any more.

i dont think they really won. the only one who won is the customer. i bought cheap stuff from 3rd world server, and sell it for 300-500% profit in my own server. i dont even need time to gather it. the only thing i need to invest is analyzing other server MB, which i already done in the past. i can flood the board easily with certain mats if i want and cut everyone by half the price while making money. i got gil, people got cheaper stuff (not 1 gil cheaper lmao), while dominating the MB. such is the power of the great master race

^ There is that wonderful silent brotherhood feeling when placing your item at the seemingly fair lowest price and other sellers holding hands at that place (like when you jump for a ready check and everyone else jumps in response). Now it can happen where it's way over priced brotherhood which I know can be an "aw shucks" moment when you lose that, but that one doesn't really bother me. So I mean speaking strictly that "yeah that makes sense" price point that everyone holds hands around.

If there is a slow selling item and someone keeps undercutting me, especially after I match them rather than undercut them, and there isn't many or any other sellers... sometimes I purposefully crash the market because that just drives me bonkers. Or if I can get them to undercut me below average selling price to the point I can buy it from them and then sell it back at normal market value.. I'll do that too (which action to take depends on how fast the item sells and how much they keep undercutting by).

Kind of fun when you flip some good stuff but honestly more annoyance than joy for me- I see the market board as one of those necessary evils to making gil in the game, I wish I could just sell to an NPC that gave me a fair rate instead of the Gamestop trade in value.

Someone appeared to sell a roll for 1m, because the others were also 1m, but they missed a 0, and I bought it right away. How no one else caught that is a mystery.. I needed that roll too, so that's why I didnt decide to get a 900k profit.

I try to undercut by 1 gil as long as I can until I just get tired of it, then it starts going by hundreds, thousands, then several thousands, or I just let it sit at the price and wait indefinitely. Sometimes that works too!
