How is this hard. All you have to do is stand their and nuke.

Literally its so simple a caveman could do it.

To stop and cast is very simple

Simply take your finger off the movement button.

When your character stops moving, cast.

Soloing is retarded simple. Use exploitative elemental magics for the most damage your not trying to combo as much here or you will burn your MP fast. If you have to borrow an elemental spell from another DoM, you most likely will only need one, as your primary targets are probably of all the same elements.

All you have to do is stand there, stoneskin, protect, second wind, nuke, nuke. You proabably wont even have to cast a cure! (Solo of course)

No running anywhere is involved. An archer may back up from his foes though because his combos require distance.

That's my only issue with WHM and controller. Randomly I am unable to do anything for about five seconds. No lag as everything on the screen flows smoothly. Don't know what causes this yet, but it is incredibly annoying. I don't have this issue with the keyboard. Also don't have this issue when I'm on any other job with controller....

It's not about just standing around. Do you really think that is why people are upset? Moreover, people do more partying that soloing, so that is more in the forefront of people's minds. I feel like you haven't read any posts in this thread to post this rather ignorant opinion.

I use a controller and personally I don't see what people are complaining about (especially with the convenient arrows next to your resource bar that shows if you are moving or not). My main was going to be Bard with this patch but after playing around with the different jobs, I have settled with Black Mage. I absolutely love the new interrupt mechanics, I love that I can actually move out of an AOE attack without being stuck mid cast and being animation locked inside of it.

It's just weird to me seeing people complaining about something so basic. I think FFXIV must have been the first MMO many people have played, because this mechanic is present in most other MMOs. If anything, it was even more annoying in XI than it was in XIV, I remember stopping to cast in XI, getting mid way through the spell and then it being interrupted because I didn't wait long enough to start casting. At least in XIV they won't even let you start casting a spell until you are completely stopped.

This is just something that people have to get used to. Change happens, it has and will continue to.

It's amusing you speak about change when they are reverting to an old mechanic. It doesn't matter what other games did this, and I don't think people are upset about being able to move to cancel spells. The problem IS latency and the ridiculous /facetarget command. The thing is most of us ARE used to it, but that doesn't mean it's okay. Broken mechanics are still broken even if we try to cope with them. There are issues here and it's ignorant to believe everything is just perfect the way it is.

Hm no its more like the arrow says i dont moove, my screen says i dont moove, my cooldown says its all good but my spell says:
Cant cast that right now.
So thats a problem sometimes, didnt die jet because of this but came awefully close. Its not the mooving mechanics, its the fact that somehow does not work as intended/seemes laggy. ^^
Pressing H also sometimes does funny stuff but not what it was supposed to do.
So far i had:
-Nothing happens at all
-I turned arround as i was supposed to
-Target lock aktivated (no i didnt press any other key, this confuses me the most)

It's amusing you even bother with the first sentence (Changing to an older method of casting is still changing.... Right...?). The most I ever have had to wait to cast a spell was a second, that is completely reasonable. I understand it isn't perfect and it needs improving upon, but this is still version 1.x and they can only do so much while laying out the groundwork for 2.0.

My point was that some people are saying this is the worst change ever when myself and many other people are managing just fine. Yeah, there are flaws with it, but you ARE playing a MMO that flopped faster than nearly any other MMO that came out in the past decade and is being almost completely redesigned. I think things like this sort of come with the territory.

Actually I GAVE you my response.

you dont HAVE to move as a mage, theirs no reason unless you have to catch up with your party.

People are upset that it takes an extra second to stop moving.

MAYBE its a problem thats only happening for some players, I don't know

BUT as a mage, theres no reason you should be running all over the battle field

You can cast from a distance for a reason, so you dont HAVE to move.

The only reason in a PARTY you should be moving is if your fighting mobs that don't have a closed camp

or

If you need to get that much closer/farther to/from your target.

IN ADDITION

I play on a ridiculously laggy laptop. This client is killing me with lag, even though its brand new. I use a controller ALWAYS. You would think this problem would be horrid for me.
I do not get the same problem as these people and I don't know why.
when my character stops moving, I know when hes at rest
Occasionally I get a message, but I've checked and thats only when I start trying to cast a spell while moving.

Not sure how you kite someone without moving lol regardless point still stands, it would make them even more OP.

Full time mage here. I use a controller with macros (start with /facetarget) and I've had next to no issues with the new system. It's much more forgiving than XI (when you're being wailed on you can still get casts off a lot more frequently than you could in XI), and not nearly as bad as I feared it would be when it was first announced. AND it will get even better in 2.0 :D
