Unpopular Opinions: 5.0 Edition

Unpopular Opinion:

1) I think eureka was the best step in the right direction
2) ff15 collab is another step in the right direction
3) nier collab confirmed that SE knows actually what the fans want
4) 5.0 is going to be the best xpac in mmo history. So many W's
5) Viera's are too sexual but I like how they actually seem exotic and not whitewashed so far
6) Gunblade should start at lvl 70 instead of making grind fluff content
7) Blu mage and other limited jobs are probably the most exciting content that isnt just another random dps, tank, healer
8) I want to use the Trust system for everything-even savage because I like playing alone.
9) MMOs are not about "playing with others" but about having a world where you can go and play how you want. I dont like being forced and waiting in que because xyz isnt around to clear content with me. Waste of time

So... "Massively Multiplayer Online" isn't about multiplayer ? You should be happy we got a MSQ that is like a solo RPG. Just had to answer this line because it's really funny, sorry. I like everything else.

Unpopular opinion on the unpopular opinions of this thread : Ivalice actually bring a LOT of original characters, lore and even a new race (viera) to FFXIV. Nier will do the exact same thing. I'm excited.

(If you think Automata is just fanservice that mean you don't have any philosophical abilities, RIP)

I miss the days when new characters were new characters, not persona pasted onto old faces.

Y’Shtola being Matoya isn’t going to go over any better than Lyse.

I still hate Thancred, him getting yet another redesign isn’t going to change that.

I’m a little worried about the state of the setting with all these crossovers.

But more than that, I still do not really trust the direction they have taken with Garlemald. They really cannot make them into proper, whole opponents capable of hitting back, so they have to make them flat, easily beatable caricatures, its like watching the generals vs. the globetrotters and calling it “war”.

But Guild Wars 1 was even argued during its time to be a COOPRPG rather than MMO. As someone who played it straight from launch and into the release of GW2, yea I'm well aware it's not new but again its not a popular MMO system.

1) Crossover collabs are cool, they said they'd do it ever since ARR so I'm down for driving my flying car past the Rathalos instance.

2) New-Eureka won't bother me if they take the feedback from this iteration and utilize it to make it feel like a smoother, more interesting experience than it currently is. It'd be nice if it could operate in its own overworld zone so we could use DF while killing things, though I dunno precisely what the technicality behind that would be.

3) Nervous about the Nier Alliance Raid. It's 50/50 to me if they can pull it off while making it fit into the world of FFXIV, since those pieces of content are canon to the overall lore. It'll be weird and aesthetically it'll be up my alley, just hoping they can tie it in well like with Ivalice. Odds are I'll like it anyway, but I do hope they manage to make it fit story-wise since that'd be a really interesting feat.

4) I like limited jobs. The content is something different to do, the means they level and interact can be more unique over time, so I'm interested to see what they do with any later ones if they decide to add more of them into 5.0. (I can get people being angry BLU is limited because it was a prior favorite, but the content and design of it doesn't feel bad and gives something other than raiding to do).

5) Viera I like. Not quite as what I ideally hoped, but better than I expected. Just waiting to see how the males look as (and I suppose this is unpopular due to the proliferation of it) I really doubt they'd do genderlock races considering the history of the game, and I really doubt there'll be an all male "lion" race that's playable to contrast with Viera. Especially with the amount of work they mentioned it took for them to redo helmets for Viera specifically.

(and if they genderlocked Viera specifically I feel like they'd just say it. Instead of mentioning: wait for Tokyo, since odds are the models aren't ready to be shown. Kinda like how the raid information was left out due to it being incomplete).

To be fair, GW1 had that because the only time you'd see another player is in some form of hub. Aside from those, you'd be put in your own particular instance of that zone once you leave them.
