There is this big time twitch streamer named Ninja that is bringing attention back to 11 and there is this odd thing going on. A group or people are pushing for an official FFXI vanilla server. Hopefully that gets a graphic and UI update. Time sink mmos no matter how deep have been shunned by the mass mmo players. But there is still hope for those who do like that type of game.

SE is just a mobile game company now, the current staff don't have the MMO developing experience.

It probably would have moved toward a WoL story eventually. FFXI you started off as an "adventurer" and slowly became the WoL. FFXIV was probably going to copy that formula. We'll never know.

My current raiding team is exactly how you describe your 1.2 experience. We're a true team who have formed wonderful friendships. Having those kinds of people to raid with is not unique to any game at all. While games can nurture certain kinds of players, people are people. You find bad and good everywhere.

1.0 wasn't some paradise where all the good people were left behind. Good people are playing XIV right now. But you're so caught up in the past that you're not putting yourself in the position to find them. It's no wonder you feel isolated. You're just spending your time wishing you were elsewhere. Who wants to play with someone like that?

Even Hajime Tabata, FFXV director, had just left the company , (& the DLCs were cancelled)
I think something is very wrong in SE, it feels like the company is just an empty shell now, just like this game

...he probably "left" the company because FFXV was eating way, way to much money without making enough to warrant further investments into the game.
Kinda reminds one of Tanaka and the mess that 1.0 was...

Find a different favorite company; a different favorite game - at this point you're not doing yourself a favour by sitting around and wishing for the past to come back...

To be fair, Savage Raiding was never intended for 'most players'. It was intended for those who are seeking a higher level of challenge that can't be found through MSQ. The bar of entry was lowered for those interested, yes, but let's be honest - Savage was never meant for the overall playerbase.

Yeah, mesuring MMO health with end-game raid completion ratio totaly seems like a good plan.

Fact is : FFXIV 1.xx failed so hard they had to shut it down to avoid bankruptcy but yeah, totaly was the best MMO of SE ever.

FFXIV 4.xx is so bad they release a new expansion next years and still classed as one of the best MMO on the market since 2.0 but yeah the game suck so hard they have a world tour for teasing upcoming expansion and have passed 14.000.000 registered player account.

Your argument for how good it was literaly are its death.

Neither was 1.0 as a whole game - and thats why it failed.

At least FFXIV 2.0 and on wards offers enough other content for those who dont want to raid (and that census isnt accurate anyways - it only shows clears for the last instances of the raid-tier; it doesnt include the people who do raid, but just never reach that - but who still enjoy the company of their friends while trying)

Besides: Pentheas post wasnt about how great raiding is but that they found people/friends that way - I assure you that there are a lot of other ways, not connected to raiding that let you find friends.
You need neither the mess that was 1.0 nor the "special intrest" that is raiding.
