Can we discuss how abusive the GM department is when it comes to 'Grief Tactics'? A

Man the ridiculous things that are punishable in this game smh. I’ve never done hunts and probably never will, but I know there have been many times where I’ve inadvertently stepped out of a fate zone. I’ll be pretty upset if one day I get some permanent mark against my account over something that I accidentally did or maybe didn’t even realize I did with no opportunity to have someone actually listen to and understand my side. How do gms even know if something like this was intentional or not if nothing was said in chat? Guess it doesn’t matter. Just dole out punishments because you can. The total lack of taking context and nuance of each situation into account is kinda scary.

It's not that people don't care, it just isn't against the rules whereas calling negative attention to people and resetting npcs are. If we as a community care enough to give people time however, we're going to have to request that the devs implement mechanics to force it. Maybe when someone taps a hunt mob a temporary shield pops for a few minutes until their aether is depleted and then it's fair game? Maybe the hunt shows up on the map for everyone while it's alive after it's discovered? Think up ideas, make requests and cross your fingers.

You are under no obligation to work with the community. Hunting is open world content. You can relay and wait a few minutes for people to show up if you want. You can find a hunt and kill it there and then if you'd rather. Both are valid ways of doing the content.

If you want guaranteed credit go out and find marks.

Discarding 50 items can happen unknowingly by random people in the zone and spawn that S rank. Completing specific FATEs can be done by randoms without knowledge of the S rank and causing it to spawn. There are some examples that are entirely dependant on weather. Yes, they can happen randomly and don't appear to have any effort involved in spawning them, which was my previous point.

You vastly overestimate how many people are in the zones doing that stuff that are required to spawn S ranks. It's rare to see people doing FATES. Most people hold onto stuff to sell on the MB or sell to a vendor are not going to be dropping items in the Loches for the drop 50 items example. Most zones are pretty empty with the only ones in them doing quests and questing is not a spawn condition or passing through gathering items which I can only see Croque-Mitaine's Mine Grade 3 La Noscean Topsoil between 7-10pm ET happening by a random player.

Out of the whole list, I see only a few that would spawn randomly. Only ones I see having a good chance to spawn without a team purposefully trying to spawn it is Gandarewa, Croque-Mitaine, Garlok, and Laideronnette. Thats 4 out of 29. 2 by players gathering, 2 by weather.

Not saying some random player doing their own thing can't spawn a S rank by fulfilling one of the requirements but the chances of that are really low. It's the hunt teams that get the S ranks to spawn in a decent time frame (3 or 4 times a week) instead of it being weeks by some random happening on it by chance.

Sad to consider that the comunity doesnt exists finally, and only devs can define what is good/bad.

For me, this resetting matter is not against tos, the early pull is not. it is a player matter, between themselves. and the community just have to regulate itself. If it worked elsewhere why not FFXIV?

Yeah, no.

When I spawn S Ranks and I get a Full Party to do it, Hunts are amazing, especially at appropriate Level. They are challenging and have awesome mechanics.

Ok, at the same time, the people working to spawn the S ranks are under no obligation to call out the S rank and can just kill it without telling anyone. People doing the work are giving a courtesy waiting a couple minutes before pulling to give people who aren't spawning to come and get credit too. Don't know how Balmung hunt community is but I hope you don't get salty if the ones working to spawn decide to stop calling out the hunts if you are one of the ones leeching off the work the hunters put in.

I think Awful meant make S ranks more powerful the more players there are, not easier. Sure at appropriate level S ranks can be challenging, but most of the time it's gonna be a max level player which for right now means ARR and HW S ranks are a joke. Come next expansion, SB S ranks will be a joke too.

As long as you are the one spawning it then I say it's your decision if you wanna call it out to let other people come and tag it or keep it for yourself. My problem is with people who did not help spawn the S ranks who come in and immediately tag it even though they put in no effort to help spawn it and are just leeching off the ones that did work to spawn the S ranks. The hunt teams on Gilgamesh (the ones doing the actual work) like to give 2 minutes after publicly calling out the hunt before pulling. 2 minutes, 120 seconds. Not a long time to wait but we getting people who did not do any work to help spawn the S rank or any other zone's S rank (it's an organized multiple groups of the same team in different zones) who come in and immediately pull like they are solely entitled to it.

It’s true, they are under no obligation to relay. As a regular hunter I fully accept that. Hunts I make it to that I did not find or spawn are bonuses, not entitlements.

I generally hunt evenings on Balmung. I relay anything I find and wait for a few folks to show up...but no one ~has~ to do that. I don’t see a point in getting salty over rules that don’t exist.
