I am really confused by this, as it still does not explain why all the delays for NO CONTENT! I mean is that even an accurate translation? where they trying to mimic the start of an MNO or 1.0's start? Also I do not get why the English players have to hunt for communication, what was said there should been said here on day 1 or day 2 when it got so much blacklash, explain the situation, and other things along that nature.
Now maybe this is paranoia due to the current situation but it feels like this promotion is made with plans to throw him under the bus later, pressuring him to quit later because xxx went wrong to look honorable. Hope that is not the case but the situation feels wrong.
Maybe we misunderstood them and when they talked about Eureka they meant the whole deal..and somewhere on Eureka X we will get that what we wanted..its just bad that this might be too late for some..(and if they meant all of it why not release it all at once?) I really hope that the other parts of Eureka are not the only content we will get for SB..I am still hoping for a second part of Deep Dungeon with maybe our feedback in it.
(1) Enjoying Eureka is difficult for me. My friends are a higher level than me, and if I don't catch them as they're entering, they're usually in a full party and not able to easily bring me in. Because SE built this as an Instance, with all the attended restrictions of an Instance, including the inability to join a matching one with friends or send /tells to them. This is a serious, serious barrier for people like me, who are very much on the fence about giving Eureka much of a go.
(2) Don't tell me to stop complaining or unsub. If you don't like to hear complaints, then don't read the f***ing complaint threads floating around the forums. If I'm unhappy with a component of FFXIV, I'm entitled to speak my mind. If you're happy with the content, you're entitled to speak your mind. Neither side should attempt to silence the other, and you do tremendous damage to valid points (it gets better as you play more) when you pair them with this sort of petty, self-entitled crap.
On-topic:
I completely agree that we need more communication from the Community Team, and from SE in general. Healthy MMOs listen to their players, and actively seek their input. It's an essential part of the feedback loop, it's how developers avoid making the same mistakes twice (ideally). It's exactly what SE did, in many ways, to successfully transition from XIV 1.0 to ARR. And... then they stopped. I deeply fear for FFXIV's future if this trend continues. I know it's anecdotal evidence, but roughly 75% of my friends and FC members play mostly out of a sense of momentum, and to keep their houses. One day, that momentum will falter; if SE hasn't grown FFXIV to the point where it can retain players on its own merits by then, subscriptions will be lost - likely a lot of them. I'd rather not see this happen, because I like the foundation that XIV has laid out. I like it a lot. SE just needs to take advantage...
I think it's more like the NA/EU community have a problem with communication because it seems JP gets it, so perhaps it's not a problem about the dev team but commuinity management and we should probably press that.
I mean if also the rumor that JP gets more dev talks than us is true than the men in middle are not up to par and should be riled up
Especially since the last few surveys have shown that NA alone is I think already bigger than JP and together with EU we are the majority of the playerbase right now. And yet the JP playerbase gets these liveletters, visits, Yoshida writes whole pages in a magazine about his thoughts and more and we only get them either really late as a translation (be it official or fan) or nothing at all. You have Koji Fox as a staff member why cant he for example visit our servers?
Like I wrote in the other thread, English is one of the major languages all around the world and is probably spoken by a huge amount of people. You learn it even in Japan and on top of that they have staff that should have English as its main language (Koji Fox for example) and thus should be able to talk to us. WoW probably also has it in English because the majority of their playerbase understands it. The majority of the playerbase here in FF14 is not from Japan anymore but from the western countries. So having still no direct english translator in the liveletters or at least have some of the english speaking staff visiting our worlds would help. Or some more posts on this forum.
