I'm not saying the same thing as you at all. Since you don't seem aware of the idiom, "same thing underneath the hood," I'll help explain it. It is a figure of speech that compares two things which on their surface appear different but are actually the same thing functionally. The literal representation of the idiom is two cars with different frames and/or paint jobs that have exactly the same engine under their car hoods. Because the ability of a car is measured predominantly by its mechanics and not what the frame looks like, the idiom represents the idea that the two things being compared are functionally the exact same thing despite looking completely different on the outside.

I.e. when I say that Astrologian and Geomancer are the same thing under the hood I am saying that they're the same job but they just look different on the outside. There's no functional difference between the two, so it's not comparing apples and oranges. It's comparing a red apple to a green apple. They're both apples.

Ah, I see. You are right i'm not familiar with that idiom, I thought you were making a reference to "umbrella terms" or "overarching terms". We are saying something similar though, but whereas you are saying same inside different outside, I am saying different inside same outside, but admittedly my explanation was probably more convoluted than it had to be.

Interesting discussion guys. I do think Time Mage would compliment geomancer nicely, though.

kinda pop in to my head.
give time mage a few dot spells. then give him a cd ability called "time dilation" basically this ability will make any dot spell casted during its active duration all go off the moment it lands.
example: dot spell #1 does 60potency on land and 20potency ea tick. the dot stays for 12s making it total 140 potency for whole 12sec.
with time dilation active, as soon dot spell #1 lands on target, all the damage goes off at the point making it a 120 potency no dot spell.
maybr make time dilation shareable to party??
thought just came to my head so forgive me if the potency i choose is too low etc. just want to bring up an example.

Sorry but they Don't need anymore dps classes. Next class better be a new tank or healer.

i don't know why people spread such things if the devs already said they have TM in mind... so actually Sylvain is right and you shouldn't consider own opinions as reality : /

Also, on a side note, in an interview Y.P was asked why they choose RDM and SAM for SB and he started with "WHen it comes to job there is a lot of choice, many things come to my mind like the Time Mage for instance, but ... explain why RDM and SAM for SB... "

The one job he used as an example of "other possible choice" was Time Mage. So clearly, Time Mage isn't out of the Window (in the long run)

So if the only caster request is "time mage", it is not too far fetched to believe they see it and it's on the to do list.
Especially that Time Mage has a strong theme they can expand on. I play an AST and beside Time Dilatation, it doesn't feel all that "Timyy". Sure Gravity is used, big deal.

edit: I like both concepts this TM one and the latest Geomancer as well - most of all cause they both would bring more synergy and grp dynamic instead of just lame raw dmg we are used to since SB... : /
