Developers Poor Attitude to Summoner

It is weird how they keep changing the gameplay. I played SMN because I wanted to be what it originally was, a DoT-heavy class. The pet was a nice bonus. The Stormblood changes made the DoT stuff less interesting, and doesn't appear to have given much in return (based on how poor the actual dmg output appears to be).

If they do that, I guarantee I'm kicking SMN on sight, and I'm willing to bet money I won't be the only one. Who in their right minds wants the equivalent of Teraflare/Meteor blasting in their face every two seconds? Demi Bahamut is enough of a nuisance for all melee in the game as is, if SMN was any flashier it'd be unplayable in group content.

I think SMN design is ultimately up to whichever intern wins employee of the month. It's the only thing that makes sense.

I think the devs are probably just fed up with the summoner community really, as is the rest of the playerbase at large.

All through 2.0 they whined for BLM levels of DPS, they got it in 3.0 but according to the community it "was not how we wanted to DPS"

Then came the whole egi glamour ordeal, they finally implement it (after years of non stop nagging) and the community screams and yells "this is not what we wanted! where is <insert summon>?"

Non stop nagging for "proper" summons, they finally get one, summoner community collectively complains about it once more.

Now summoners are pretty much looking at another kid who got a different toy to them and demanding they get said toy as well.

Really, i can't blame the devs for having a poor attitude towards summoner players, as poor attitude is all they have ever gotten from summoner players.

I am the poster who made the very rough mock-up of the answers to the SMN request to scale Physick off INT. I want to stree the following points:

• "Go play a Red Mage" was very obviously a joke. The whole charade of acting like not understanding the point of the request for INT scaling was a way to emphasize that jobs are designed to be different. And the joke was to wrap it up.
• It was not a strict translation. There are nuisances that are lost with such a simplistic mock-up. And the same goes with the extremely simplified and matter-of-fact summaries posted officially.
• My take on the responses to SMN requests regarding INT scaling of Physick and pet survivability is that they have made a decision that SMN should not be good at healing, and that they should be required to handle their pet, being a pet job. In the same way that PLDs for a long time were given lower dps becase that's just how it's designed.

Please don't blow it out of proportion. The joke about "go play a red mage" was not a dismissive gesture. It was a joke, and should be taken to mean no more than that.

So it's wrong for anyone to want balance? Are you saying you wouldn't complain if DRK was constantly running out of MP/TP and entirely eclipsed by another tank?

Yoshi told us when 2.0 launched that we would be getting Leviathan, Ramuh and Shiva egis eventually. Then he changed his mind. Then he promised egi-glamours to let us make our pets look like them instead. Then it took over two years to actually materialize and what do we get? Carbuncles. Given how much he kept moving the goal posts the SMN community had every right to be frustrated about it.

You realize the support niche that RDM has now was actually taken away from SMNs right? I haven't seen many that actually care all that much anyway. Most of the complaints over a heal skill are because SMNs actually need one to heal their damned pet yet don't have one. The core complaints, however, are over the job balance itself and how clunky and punishing the job is despite still falling in at the back of the pack in terms of performance. We're pretty much back where we were in 2.0 with BLM and RDM doing quite literally everything better than us: single target, AOE and support.

Not a single point in your post is actually a valid argument. Have you ever considered that the poor attitude the devs get from SMNs is because the devs keep screwing SMN players over?

Not even gonna bother editing that quote, but no. You, and people like you, are the reason they hate summoners. You always complain, you always whine, you veil it behind attempts at giving yourself the higher moral ground, you twist arguments in your favour with head canon levels of creativity and are otherwise ignorant to your own toxicity. As for your own points, lets see... You wanted balance, you got balance, you still whined all through heavensward.

yoshi promised egi glam, you got egi glam. I think you fail to realise what "eventually" entails though.

Bahamut complaints? Are you kidding? size, duration, over-reliance on him for your damage, screwing up or dieing removes all buildup towards him. There are complaints galore. The recent live letter specifically targetted his size!

You never lost your niche, you still have raise. Your heals were always pathetic but now you're jealous because the new kid on the block can actually heal as well as raise. The only argument you might have anywhere in your blind rambling is the loss of sustain, which yes, sucks big time.

To use your own line back at you, not a single point in your post is actually a valid argument. (outside the sustain thing)

It is not players fault that the job was poorly designed from a get go. So players who are paying for the game are valid to complain to SE if they are not satisfied.

Corporations aren't your friends. If they're getting "poor attitude" from their customers it means they failed to deliver something customer wanted.

Well, some people didn't want it to be a DoT Job, there are some that liked it as a DoT job (who complained that we get only 2 DoTs now), then some that wanted it to focus more on pets, and then there's another side where they want it to be like classic FF summoning, big and flashy summons and attacks, almost like Demi-Bahamut (pretty much asking for a burst DPS).

They can't really please everybody if the community is so divided about Summoner's identity. I think Summoner now is a step in the right direction though, but executed poorly.

Ultimately this divide exists precisely because developers failed to deliver fun and competently designed summoner job. It would be one thing if SMN was some new class or something, but it's not the case - summoner is iconic FF job that sets certain level of expectations(which certainly are not DoT mage or even "pet" mage).
That being said I do agree that summoning bahamut is a step in the right direction and something summoners should've done from the beginning with other primals.
