While I agree with you that's probably the better outcome, I doubt they'll do that. Doing what you proposed would require SE to add Physick as a Scholar Job Ability and isn't likely to happen.
I only suggested what I did, because it's an easy tweak that SE would probably be more likely to add.

SMN/SCH suffer from unique issues because they both branch off Arcanist and SE currently has a pretty staunch stance on not altering their shared abilities at this time. What honestly needs to happen is Scholar needs a full redesign and to be separated from Arcanist. In turn, the Arcanist abilities could be reworked to fit SMN specifically while not affecting Scholar and allowing it to grow into its own job. This is an issue way down the line though and only if SE ever removes the class system.

Except Black Mage has Manaward. Absorbs all damage upto 30% of the Black Mages health - Summoner has nothing like this.
And Machinist's turret has a 10 second cooldown if it dies normally, it costs no mana/tp to re-summon and is instantly cast on the battlefield. Meaning, as long as your turret lasts 10 seconds, you can instantly summon a new turret with little or no penalty.
If a Summoner's pet dies, it's 2400 mana to re-summon, and has a cast time of 6 second. Summoner literally has to stand around for 6 seconds getting its full damage back. Machinist just shrugs, tosses out a new turret and is good to go.
