I can not learn that way by watching a video. Sure it gives me a tip on what to expect, but so can players by just telling me. If I watch the video, 99% chance I will still wipe. I have to play it in order to learn the fight, so might as well check. Going in the fight and expect everyone know it by the ilms of every movement is selfish. Youtube and wow changed gaming to fast pace. Everyone rushes stuff now. No longer do people take their time and help new people. If you can't do it then your not worth the try to help.

Here's the deal: You don't want to watch a video? Go for it, but make your own party of people who feel the same way. Don't join some random group and then expect them to explain the fight to you, or wipe constantly while you figure it out. You're just wasting other people's time at that point. By all means, you pay to play the game, and you can play it however you like, but being a jerk and wasting other people's time is rude.

I personally watch the videos, run duty finder a few times until I understand it, then I'll join clear parties, and AFTER I clear I'll join farm parties.

As always, this has been a big debate. But the truth is, people want to win, and they want to win faster than the last win. Our group use to just do content as it came then it became harder to not watch videos, the content is just too punishing to allow us to practice it. Want to get better at coil? Can't redo runs, even if you somehow manage to clear once. that is no indication of getting better. Our first T11 clear was sheer luck (my first correction) because the whole fight only had 1 tether.. during that phase. Videos aren't a bad thing. But I would rather be able to keep practicing (after clearing) then have to watch videos to keep myself up to date with mechanics less I forget over the week since after beating it (a turn) I will be too busy trying to learn the next one. Also, videos don't always help. Sometimes, I just suck. Just sayin.

Doing ST and WOD brand spanking new the moment the patch hit and all 24 of us having a great time and figuring things out together. Sadly you only get that shot one time, because you wake up the next day and everyone demands you know the whole thing already. I make it a priority to hit those things asap before they get potentially ruined by others.

Or they can make their own speed running party? Seriously it's not hard to grasp. DF is composed of random people from all over the place, of all skill levels. Expecting them all to do one thing and one thing only is incredibly foolish. Hell if the group blazes through the place I'm certainly not complaining, but if the tank is pulling things one group at a time I don't have a problem with that either.

By experience, this is so true. Figuring out the new stuff with people who are as clueless as me when it's new is one of the best parts of this game. But like you say, people literally expect you to know it all if not the next day, then the day after that. Woe the person who had to work or whatever the patch day.
