Locked out of the Duty Finder.

Never liked how we all have to commence in the first place. They could just shoot us into the instance, basically how it was done in XI. Leader of party/alliance (or solo player) kicks off the queue, you get matched up, instance is reserved, and everyone just goes into the instance. I know some may not like that process, but then everyone is in the dungeon and subject to the rules of dropping out from the instance, and the group has the benefit of choosing to wait for a replacement, or abandon. Make it auto-queue replacement players to help address the whole bit about people trying to exploit it and low-man the dungeon by vote-kick abuse and such. To that end, they could even put limits on vote-kick usage for that matter--can only use it so many times per instance or day, then you have to complete it or vote-abandon.

I read this whole thread looking for this answer. The way it's worded in notes made me think it was reset the next day. I suppose the reset they refer to is however many strikes I have accumulated.

This is why you get two free "strikes" with no 30 minute penalty, exactly because Things Happen and emergencies come up. If you find yourself in a situation where you're going to be repeatedly interrupted and are worried about hitting the third strike and taking a 30-minute penalty, perhaps it's not the best time to queue up and you should do something else until the potential for interruptions passes?

I don't see why this is even an issue. This can all be easily avoided by the simple step of performing a Ready Check before you queue up for DF.

Now, if you do that, and someone still withdraws once it pops? Then they're being a jerk, and you know who not to invite to a party again.

Okay hold up, I'm confused lol...So: If I had got in Que, some thing came up, that adds to my strike and no one else gets a penalty?
Me: One strike.
The rest: No penalty?

I'm just confused why this needs to apply to parties in the first place. Disregarding the fact that I disagree with the system for solo players, at least that has a purpose, to curb in progress fishing. But what's the point of applying the penalty to a party at all. Parties can't join in progress. And with the ability to join as an alliance in CT/ST, you don't need to fish for anything else either. So what's the point? To deal with the handful of trolls spread across a million+ players!? That's ridiculous. Applying the penalty to the whole group instead of the one who clicked withdraw is just doubly stupid.

Because an incomplete party that withdraws can screw over the other players who are not in the party by spamming withdraws. Why else did Square feel like they had to make the whole system as it is now in the first place? Out of boredom? Trolls can drive players away, which means Square loses money. All MMOs have mechanics and staff in place to reduce trolling.

One person in a party withdrawing is most likely:

a) the sole problem
b) experiencing a connection issue
c) made a mistake
d) urgently needed (emergencies, etc.).

No way should the rest of the party who hit commence be penalized.

This' a bad design decision imo.

I'd argue that this dumb system offers more ways to troll than before.
Remove the display of progress, eliminate fishing, and be done with it.

Then dust off that FC you probably don't talk to.
