They sure did (thus, being significantly easier for newbies).
It's still a ways before they implement something like that though, especially since the Final Coil is still fresh...

I was hoping they'd do something like have you jump platform to platform killing different parts of him. Hands, feet, legs, chest, head or whatever. Keep him huge but still be able to fight him. They did something like this in another FF...FF10? I forgot which one.
