I can say I'm not entirely surprised, but I didn't think they would implement a "scaled down" version, that completely kills any possibility of a full alliance battle against the real thing

Unfortunately SE will likely never have alliance battles of Coil tier difficulty. They don't believe that 24 players can coordinate well enough or something.

Disappointed. Missed a great opportunity to do something large scale, God of War style. Guess it's too rough to work on for an MMO.

For those disappointed, wow tried to do one of those super massive size fights with deathwing, and it just didn't feel epic. You spend the majority of the fight just fighting adds/his limbs and don't really feel like you're doing much. As long as there's a decent reason why he's smaller I'm completely ok with fighting the scaled down version instead of being ants slowly cutting off one of his toes so he falls over and we can stab his eye for a while before he stands up again.

People need to remember that he is foremost a primal. The whole point of Coil is shutting down his schemes of a permanent physical presence. If SE so wishes to, they can easily expand on it into larger but temporary versions of him later on.
