The lore even backs this being possible. Dalamud after Bahamut was released was scattered throughout Eorzea. Guess who was absorbed by Dalamud prior with only his weapon remaining. Greg has the weapon now.Quote:

I had my retainer bring back an Astral Ring. A nice 50,000 Gil in my pocket. But that only happened once - I was incredibly lucky and got it on the first quick exploration I sent my first retainer on. Other than that, though, I've been getting low-level crafting trash material. I'm not concerned if someone gets a neat little trinket every now and again; that's the main reason people do retainer ventures anyway.
I think the system is fine as it is.
