It'd be fun to see them attempting to walk slowly across the zone. Perhaps make 2 NPCs together so that you can have a young person helping the old person get around or something. Immersive stuff! >:O

I wouldn't mind every once in a while, every second Sunday of a month, an unused section of Ul'dah main thoroughfare blocked off for a big traveling carnival, something akin to what we saw in Ul'dah's opening movie. Lots of NPCs can run around, silly little games can be played, and maybe a few interesting items can eventually be finagle out of the event.
I've read that topic lately. I didn't see it when I original made this topic, however, I don't JUST want them moving. I want MORE of them. And with sound effects. I want it to sound like a city. Sometimes people yelling, other times have kids running through the streets chasing one another and giggling like the creepy little freaks they are. LIFE. It's something SE dominantly forgot about in this game. Something I want to not only see, but be able to feel.
This is just as important as redesigning the maps, because with the heavy emphasis on crafting most of us spend just as much time in the cities as out of them.
I really like this idea, and maybe even add some other random events throughout the month, though not as large scale obviously. Something as simple as randomized quests with reward points that could be used for city specific cosmetic gear (that take longer than one week to get).
Yeah that'd be a great idea. And as I previous mentioned before earlier in the topic, not only have a parade, but other interesting things going on town as well, that multiple people can join in on simply by being there.
Example: for Ul'Dah, Raubahn could send you on a mission to stop a street gang that is causing trouble. With every wealthy city, there will be crime you need to deal with.
Gridania: Opo-Opos (or other monsters) are causing a ruckus on the far side of the city. You're then ordered by Kan-E-Senna to go deal with the pests and bring back order in Gridania.
Limsa: A group of goblins has made their way into the city and are stealing supplies. Merlwyb orders you to find said goblins, and take them out.
Among other ideas for battles.
For convenience, instead of having to go and speak to Raubauhn or the other leaders themselves, you could have Guards shouting (like Battlewardens do) inside the city, speaking their orders. The difficulty could scale based on the amount of players taking part in it. And make different tasks for higher levels. Lower level players could take out the street thugs in one of these. But sometimes maybe the task needs to be set to attack deeper toward the leaders of these gangs/monsters.
Just some ideas.
Another bump, except this time I feel the shame D: still hoping for a reply to this from the devs.
I actually liked it when the vendors closed in FFXI. It gave a bit of a sense of reality lol. Or like you said, they could switch shifts. Not once in FFXI did I ever go "Gah, the fact that the vendors in this game close for a few hours in the night really messes this game up."
