The whole not wanting players to just throw money at the game to get the best items falls on its face even if crafting didn't exist in the first place. Those players that really want items easily are going to just pay for the dungeon runs directly with either IRL or in-game currency instead of buying the item off the market boards. Crippling crafting and keeping it irrelevant isn't going to change that. It's just going to annoy players like myself that enjoy crafting and want it to be competitive. I would hate it even more if we ever came into a system involving U/U personal crafting like WoW devolved into.
Even just having control over how we look either through different gear models or just dyes. There are no options currently and it remains to be seen how the appearance system will even work. I'm pretty sure most are just expecting restriction after restriction at this point. To me and my friends, anything more than "Can you wear this?" is too restrictive. I usually hear that the art teams don't want their new gear looks to go unused, but what about everything else they've created?
It's getting really disappointing to hear about how systems are dictated by 3rd party RMT's. We really need an effort to streamline the reporting process, most of the information can be gathered automatically. It also shouldn't take several weeks to remove a botter from the economy either. I'm not even talking about the questionable ones, most of them are extremely obvious they are bots. I would even include unlisted youtube videos with each report if they wouldn't get flagged for takedowns by the people I submitted them to.
I really hope in the future easily obtainable quest rewards that trump all the crafting gear doesn't exist. Several of the problems aren't even just related to the top tier items.
