If I see that I just don't bother to raise/heal them. Taking the time to patch up trash is DPS loss.
You know what's actually irritating to deal with as a tank? People complaining in raids that you're stance off. I'm sorry but if I see another tank with stance on I'm going to let them have it. We're not going to play the game of me ripping aggro from them and the boss getting spun when they voke. If there's adds I'll stance up, if they die I'll stance up.
Case in point I'm giving this PLD all my TBNs and they still eat the dirt. I have the boss voked + stanced up before anyone takes an auto but some other dirt muncher who died to mechs earlier is crying about it. I hold boss for a bit as PLD gets up, stance off when they voke. Crying ensues again. So I stance up and I proceeded to rip aggro from the boss 4 times even with shirking. I have some colorful words that I cannot speak here that I would like to do to that BRD.
At that point if you were still stealing ( I guess wrong word to use cause you were putting work in ) aggro that easily with you trying as hard as you can to NOT steal it...you should have just been "No. I'm MT now".
If they provoke the boss you just provoke it right back. Your provoke timers are identical so you would never have to worry about it.
Taking the aggro and being MT would have been easier work than trying your hardest that they keep the aggro. You were obviously the better tank.
This is my approach to tanking as well. I don't participate in tank wars. If their fragile ego requires being the center of attention at all times, then they can have at it. I want no part in it. However, I will turn my stance on to generate some hate for about 15-20 seconds just to make sure that, if the MT does die, it goes right to me instead. I will also attempt to rectify a situation if the MT isn't handling the boss properly. I hate stepping on anyone's toes, but sometimes you just kind of have to.
I don't know why my co-healer chose to keep on resing this one dps in a P9 run. The guy more often than not kept on running into the bad cause you know melee up time bro. They would also end up dead soon after being raised as well. I know they were a returner, but that doesn't excuse behaving like a moth that sees a bright light. I don't know why melee and normally it's a reaper have problems with doing the mechanics in the normal Pandeamonium raids. As I used to get the same thing happen in P4 and P5. Even on bosses where it's very hard to have no uptime unless they disappear or become untargetable. The guy also just looked like they weren't even using a lot of their kit. Yes I healed them for the short time they'd be alive for.
That's how I tank with some variation. I let the MT gain enough threat before slapping my stance on. I try not to MT cause either I get the I must be the center of attention tanks, a tank that thinks voke is part of their normal rotation , or if I don't get into a MT fight my healers end up either not realizing I'm MT or barely healing me.
Why the rare time that I do end up having to be the tank for an entire run I grumble and worry the whole run. Like an Aglia run I had where the other two tanks didn't even try to get hate after a dps pulled Byrgot and he started ping ponging around the dps. I was expecting to get dead due to lack of heals or to need to heal myself. If not the bosses starting to eat dps if I did somehow die during a fight and the other two still refusing to put their stance on.
Just ran the entire Great Gubal dungeon without a tank.
I healed our two dps.
Dynamis queues are so slow that it never backfilled, as the tank left at the start during load in and we still finished with it not filled in.

Mob pack aggro being rng on who grabs it kinda keeps it crispy though.

at least as a whm (assuming you haven't already spammed it) you can pop a couple aoe heals to pull the threat off them, holy spam and then spam cure II on yourself w/presence of mind while popping all your cds when stun no longer works. i feel like the other healers it's like "welp, time to die".
Had a Hrothgar in my expert roulette today. I feel sick and my day is ruined.
Damn furries ruin everything.
::: attempts to hide rabbit ears under a hat, but fails :::
See? Even ruining hats!
Did a dungeon where the healer went out of their way to rescue me into every possible AoE. Which meant the healer had to ALSO stand in every possible AoE for that to be possible.
But, they assured me, they REALLY knew what the mechanics USED to be once upon a time.
Never had such an awful Dun Scaith before. Like I guess healers just weren't prepared for DH hitting so hard, but they weren't healing in general to begin with. Most of the alliance was wiped out on most bosses because healers flat out weren't even bothering to use their aoe spells, so raidwide attacks would slowly wittle down the parties until we died. Best part of all is at the end when they pat themselves on their backs like they did amazing.
I encountered the same thing except it was in Castrum! I was the healer and thought I was in the run from Hell. Tank couldn't keep aggro worth beans.
It took all my MP to keep everyone alive. Then, while I was recovering MP after a wall to wall pull, one of the damage dealers told me about the roulette game they had been playing.
They apologized for the stress they had caused and complimented my healing because they hadn't expected anyone to be able to keep the "winner" alive.
I laughed and let them play the game on the final two bosses. It was fun! Got three commendations too.
I feel like these mogtomes really show how lazy some people are/have gotten. In OCE, generally, alliance roulettes are run unsynced. So, when mogtomes event comes round, suddenly people are running it synced and noone knows how to do the alliance raids properly. Tanks don't split adds. Healers don't heal their alliance properly. The amount of people that cannot seem to understand the concept of, when you have a boss fight in a wide area or the add phase, that A is left, B is middle and C is right. Because it's so rare to get anything other than CT (and sure, hopefully that changes with the new patch), any time they actually do a different, synced, alliance raid, they become headless chickens.
Normal raid roulette: Alexander A1 Normal
One of the easiest raids out there right? RIGHT?
Well you probably wont believe it buuuuut... we actually wiped at the boss.
Havent seen a wipe in there since ... i dont know... early heavensward?
Dont even know how it happend. Just noticed that our overall dps was kinda low (saw our BLM using a weird rotation, like Fire 2 followed by Fire 1 and Fire 3...)
And one healer had connection issues.
So yeah. It sure felt nostalgic.
Today I was running roulettes, got Byakko normal.
At the end of the wind phase he shouted "Enough Games!" slammed us into the ground and my client closed..
Bigger Cat Dad say game time was over, it wasn't a request.
Was there at least one new person? Seems to me that some long time players think the mechanics of the old raids are self-explanatory when they are not. In most content you can ignore adds if the boss dies soon. Kill boss and adds vanish. Why should a new player think otherwise in this raid? Add that they now melt fast and the wipe is freshly baked.
Had a fun run of Aglaia. Nald'Thal got to throw one set of balls before he died. We had 3 cutsceners, and the run was still barely 20 minutes long.
Really makes me feel as if it doesn't matter that we changed the ilvl cheesing in alliance raids roulette, because this is 100% going to be the high level CT.
People complained about the Nier bosses being HP sponges. Be careful what you wish for.....
I can't fix stupid.
I can't fix stupid.
I just can't fix stupid.
Especially in Dun Scaith.
Despite callouts in alliance chat, we had a near wipe on the first boss because what's knockback prevention? I popped a healer lb3 here.
Second boss people don't know what to do with Debiliator tiles, nor pay attention to where the donuts and dippers are going.
Scacath we wiped twice because no one would get the adds nor pay attention to mechanics. Pink floor is bad people.
Diabolos Hollow people didn't know how to handle thrown balls or rolling balls. Had to lb3 here.
There was a total of 97 deaths, with my co-healer and one of our smns being quite undergeared to where they would barely survive raidwides. SMN would always die to Diabolos' raidwides.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Some days I wonder where people learned the marker positions for AR. Some of the weirder ones I've seen include:
A>C>B(this one is the most common one I see...and even had it last night).
B>C>A
C>B>A
C>A>B
That moment when you run an alt through Aglaia as sage, your tank dies so often and seems to be the lowest on enmity, and your mch calls them out on them being afk for both the first and second boss.
That moment when you put in for a vote dismiss on said tank before anyone can open the chest, and THEN the tank, once they realized they were being called out for afking, said they were back and says 'yeah sorry popped at a bad time, should be back next fight.'
That moment when you don't trust what they said in party chat.
That moment when the vote dismiss goes through.
Primal seems to be wild
People do be liking to stand on dark circles and enjoy the darkness

You both missed an even better opportunity.

Yes, that's a real book.
Had a somewhat baffling run just now. I'm chain running the Tower of Zot for the tomestones and to try for the minion at the same time. In this run, we got a level 82 not level synced DRK as a tank. No new player message. The first red flag was when they did the first pull as a small pull (pulling the little guys but not the big guy). "Ok, no big deal, some tanks like small pulls and that's fine" I think to myself. The next pull they did as a large pull. When we got to the first boss though, oh boy. When the boss threw down the fire mechanic, the tank just stood there. Not moving into the circle. 1 vuln stack. Then the boss threw down the bio mechanic, again tank just stood there. 2 vuln stacks, but they lived. The boss threw down another fire mechanic, the one where it's the spot with the arrow over it, again tank just stood there. They died here. Boss started hitting me, I got the tank buster and died. The boss was almost dead at this point so the healer got the tank up, then got me up, and we were able to finish it off. Tank bails immediately after the first boss, and we get a competent tank and had no problems the rest of the fun. Primal duty finder is always an adventure.
