Viera Race "Confirmed" for 5.0! Are you gonna change races?

I interpret this in two ways
1. We are getting two variations of viera just like how hyurs have two variants (midlanders and highlanders) - Tall viera that we saw in the trailer, and short viera that look like young elezen
2. The variation of viera they were talking about is really just a male viera - and it so happens that male viera tend to be shorter than female viera

Honestly, I interpreted that as 1, but another possible slip up I heard was when she was specifically talking about the viera's racial hair design she referred to it specifically as a "female hair" which my brain said there was maybe a possibility of her brain differentiating between the memories of creating female viera hair vs male viera hair.


Holy crap apparently this was an eventful day for me as I've hit my post cap.

Nice catch, and entirely possible.
If we really are getting two variations of viera, I will be pleasantly surprised.
That's what it sounds like were getting, but who knows.

I'll start of saying that I like the Viera, they look great and all, and besides the male thing (which I'm hoping gets revealed in JP) I only have one (ok, two) gripes about the reveal:

First, it feels really weird how they're full on going for the boner money. The poses they featured seem a bit too fanservicey for my taste (and while, yes, they're a fanservice race, hear me out for a second): Hydaelin Viera seem to be saying "Oh, hello, mister hyruan, do you think I'm pretty? Tee-hee" (with ACTUAL giggle in the trailer), while Ivalicean Viera were more cold and distant, and a little feral, more likely to say "Your mouth is open, child of the hume, have you never seen a Viera?"

The second gripe is that they're all wearing Fran's outfit when there's a perfectly good silver NPC outfit for them, but I'll take that as a design choice and the alternative would have been locking said outfit behind a paywall, so yeah, I'm fine.

BUT, if males get revealed in 2 months, those are pretty minor things that I'll happily ignore just for the sake of finally having the race in XIV.

We need Male Viera.

Yeah I thought this too. I've always felt like they were distant and cold to outsiders. Here they looked like harem girls. I LOVED the sprint animation though.

The sprint is 10/10

I think the males may not be done yet and they could look a lot different and it will be shown in Tokyo since he said wait till then.

The concept art shows both ears being bent so... I'm assuming you can't bend one and have the other ear up.

Also, earlier I was speculating there would be two variants of viera - tall and short. This speculation could be wrong, so don't get your hopes up lol
Although I still think there's a chance for male viera, at the current moment, I don't actually believe there will be tall and short viera variants.

The video I posted could have been referring to a hairstyle that looks similar to a certain young looking elezen - probably Alphinaud/his sister's hairstyle? Not sure.

This will be a playable race, so the presentation is probably showing off some of what it can do.
