Tales from Duty Finder: Some make you laugh, some make you cry. Let's vent.

This morning I had a talk with a friend about Dun Scaith. (Note: I never looked at a guide for this instance, I went in blind during my first run and just learned the mechanics by doing)
She just ranted on a bit about her last run, and then complained about the final boss and how annoying it was.
The conversation afterwards went something like this:

Me: Uhh, so true! Especially having to run back the entire way is so annoying! >.<
Her: Huh? Run back where to? You mean when he jumps to the back of the room? Just use Atherial Manipulation, you're a BLM!
Me: No, I mean when we wipe in the middle of the fight. Running back from the entrance.
Her: Ahh. Yeah no, we didn't wipe, the party wasn't THAT bad ;>
Me: ...wait. You mean the wipe is NOT scripted?
Her: What? xD Of course not! I've never seen a wipe during the final boss actually, we only wipe at Perona.
Me: But I've run it for over 25 times and never saw the Diablos fight without that signature wipe at the same point in the fight!
Me: And the fight also doesn't reset between before and after wiping, you get to fight Diablo's full form right away...
Me: AND it's significantly easier after wiping too!
Her: *just a bundle of giggles and lmao's at this point*
Me: Honestly, I'm SO done with df...>_>°

Wait, people beat Diabolos Hollow without a wipe? The only wins I've seen have been by the skin of our teeth, but then again - chaos tends to ensue once the MT dies at some point during the fight because the OTs tend to not grab aggro and keep Diabolos Hollow from running around and slapping everyone. No seriously, I've picked up aggro as SMN EVERY SINGLE TIME in the fight.

At least I'm not the only one who was surprised to hear that xD

I see wipes at Diabolos Hollow about 70% of the time I'd say.

Had such a good Feast match this morning with some really awesome dps. I was healing, at first I was the only healer but happily another dps switched to WHM. We had a dramatic lead then the other team savagely attacked me and the WHM, leading to a kill spree and the other team flipped our lead on us completely. We rallied, though, and our dps kept pressing the offensive; between the kills we racked up and strategic uses of our limit breaks we carved out a victory.

Best of all, the two dps who were really killing it got their Raigo achievement when we won.

I've been getting only good runs lately. Almost no wipes at all.

In my infinite wisdom, I forgot there were parties who weren't cut out for speed runs of level 50 dungeons. I zoned into AK the other day, ready to go ham. 3 bosses, 3 pulls, right? I tag the first pack, move on and on to the boss door. Hallowed Ground, doing fine. Low DPS, but okay. HG ends, pop Sentinel, and the poor healer couldn't keep me up to save his life. I hit everything I had to reduce the damage, but this poor guy just didn't have the juice to keep me up. We wiped, and I went to smaller pulls after apologizing profusely. Still had a few close calls.

Got a dps that where on the turtle full time and when told to leave the turtle go to the ignited herbs, he answered us all to shut up and things have to be done as he does.

He killed the turtle, then said "see? done!", and then "Duty Failed". Too bad the duty kicks you out as soon as it fails, because I wanted to burn him alive (I'm BLM so I'm legit on that!).

I've always wondered if these people figure out what went wrong.

Tried to be nice for an a1s light farm last night.. Told my friend [NIN] to make the PF 2 open and 4 dps or tank. I was on SCH and figured at worst case, 3 healers, 1 dps, and 4 tanks should still be able to down it easily. Sadly, even with i260 weapons, when one healer is new and thus not comfortable DPSing much, and all but 1 of the tanks are incompetent (DPS equivalent of a moderate 3.0 clear), it does not go well. We tried a second pull and the MT said "oh, we need to separate them!" but proceeded to pull before declaring an OT.. So he randomly moved it to the middle early in the fight, left it surrounded in resins, then no one grabbed 0.5 so they stacked anyway.

We wiped, disbanded, and reformed with only one open + 2 dps/tank slots, and 2 dps only slots. The one bad warrior joined (never used maim until I asked him to use storm's eye), but luckily the new players were decent enough.

My day have gotten worse when I wanted to help my friend do Dun Scaith and had another big lag spike during the entire run and I got kicked. I am 100% it is not my connection because I ran other games and it run very smoothly. Then I log into FFXIV again and I am lagging so badly. I did another connection test and it was fine. Everything is running well.

The only difference is that I use battleping with FFXIV so I am thinking it might be battleping causing me this lag.
