this was the last post I saw from SE about this. I hope we see this future update soon. :)

This! Give us quests to learn more about the five(six) races, and let us earn the ability to buy unlocked versions of the RSE through it. Maybe even add a few more sets (that everyone can wear, but designed to flatter or reflect the lore of that particular race) while they're at it. Almost everyone but the people who want strict no-compromise exclusivity win in that scenario. Ames even they get a small concession by making people work to unlock the other styles, so everyone and their Roe won't suddenly be wearing Lala bloomers overnight.

Sadly the Hyur NPC's wearing the Elezen Hempen body piece were already present at the launch of the Return to Ivalice questline, about what, half a year ago? While I wish it would mean that this is finally happening, I'm getting pretty frustrated with the teasing.
I mean, clearly you CAN make these different hempen pieces work on other races. Why show us this but not let us have access to it? Is it really worth hand-crafting an entirely new outfit for random NPC's that you know has been heavily requested, but deny our player characters the ability to wear it?
Yeah, even just an update would be nice. I feel like if theyre willing to do man-bunnies, theyre probably willing to do this as well, I'd just love to get some confirmation, even if there's going to be a wait. I mean, we're basically already waiting, it would just be nice to hear from them whether they intend to work on it, wait on it, or not do it at all.
Still waiting for this.
Unfavourable opinion, but I kind of like them having different hempen shirts/etc., because it shows their culture like their original get-ups?
A tank top and and a pair of boxer briefs isn't exactly a cultural icon.
More to the point, Eorzea is a pretty mixed. Races aren't particularly culturally distinct anymore except for a few remaining tribal elements such as Seeker of the Sun tribes. Nanamo isn't a Lalafel, she's an Ul'Dahn. Rauban isn't a Highlander, he's an Ala Mhigan. M'zhet isn't a Miqo'te, he's an absolute mess of a person. Repeat ad nausea. I see very little reason that this type of clothing isn't already spread among the populace already.
