I've had people intentionally pull the turtle away from the smoke and kill it.
The one with the 5 demons that ahve to die at the same time though is the one most common for wipes and time outs in my experiance though.
Personally that one's the most annoying for me. People either won't get the flames and just let tons of adds spawn, or the healer won't pay attention to the tank's health, or the tank won't pick up extra adds, etc.
It's a cluster of stupidity, despite being so simple.
that is yet another one, but isn't the one with the 5 demons. you're talking about the one in the cave where dogs keep spawning and leave behind flames when they die. the 5 demons are flying demons and have to be killed at the same time, or else they keep res'ing
Ah yeah, you're right - shows how little I do guildhests, I got the demon in the cave with the fire mixed up with the other one.
As an aside: while not a major story, I gotta wonder what the heck the dps were doing in Deltascape when I was effortlessly remaining 2 on aggro without a tank stance on.
World of Darkness is kind of a mess because it's so easy for people to mess up Angra Mainyu or Cerberus and kill everyone. Or the Atomoses (Atomosi?). Even Cloud of Darkness can get kind of screwy.
As soon as I read "Failed a guildhest", I immediately knew it was that turtle one.
Oh god. I can't imagine doing that - luckily enough my entire time spent levelling WHM I was given competent tanks in the dungeons I got, and between them, decent DPS, and me looking up guides and reading tips ahead of time about SB and ShB being more likely to hit like a truck I never really had that many issues keeping everyone topped off. We don't speak about the second boss in there though. God I looked like a moron during it.
It really is, which makes me wonder why the last few runs I got with it tended to go south more often than not. A) I thought this was the dungeon most people PREFERRED getting so why are we getting people DCing at the start and B) going AFK only makes it drag out even longer, so what's the point? Might as well just eat the cutscene pain, smash the DPS rotation during the boss fight interludes, and get out ASAP.
Oh well. At least today's MSQ roulette, while being weird and kind of a flustercuck, did at least wind up randomly throwing me into a lobby with one of my friends from another world. That was fun, even if it was a bit of a mess. Got to laugh about it in Discord afterwards. Good times.
It always triggers my inner jack*** self whenever:
1. The marked player decides to clump together with 3+ other party members, or;
2. I am marked and somebody decides that stacking with me is a good idea while I already made an attempt to isolate myself.
In the case where I'm marked and rolling in as healer, I actually wish there's a role skill that works the opposite of [Rescue]: yeet player away from me
(Of course I'm just joking about the Yeet skill!);)
Yesterday I was in Bozja just doing my normal when Castrum Lacus Litore popped.
I entered and joined a random group but the group was a tad unorganized. We first were told we were going top but then we were told we were going bot. On the prisoner phase, i'll admit that I forgot my East and West and went NE instead of NW but I rejoined the party and we saved 2 prisoners, the one NW and W, East didn't save their prisoner though which caused someone to ask in all caps "who screwed up". Things went relatively smoothly for the next boss encounter but it was at the final boss encounter where things hit the fan. Before we pulled the boss there was major confusion over who was going top since 2 groups were on the left and both were acting like they were going top, the lead for my group was on the left side along with 2 other people. It was ultimately decided that my group would go top and so the boss was pulled. When we were on top while we did the mechanics ok, the damage we were putting out wasn't enough and so we wiped it two times, I was just tanking the boss. On the second time we were going up top one of our party members d/ced due to pc issues but told the party to find a new party member before they d/ced, the lead never did and instead just left them in the party. They ended up reconnecting just a few seconds before we had to go uptop but their skills were still on c/d. After the second wipe the other party that wanted to go up top did so and our party lead and 2 other people joined them. They managed to kill it and the rest of the party (4 people) stayed bottom and had no real issue and castrum was beat. I later asked why we failed top so much since I was unsure and it was pointed out to me by the other remainders of that top party that it was due to failing the dps check.
overall I found this to be an interesting lesson in how one unorganized party can create a domino effect and cause more issues for all involved.
I mean, there's the infamous joking "Yeet" skill already:
https://i.redd.it/tp2am3qsauw41.png
...but allow me to also suggest my own additions. First, another for healer mains such as myself, a useful skill with laying out a salt circle:

...and for general use...

If you're gonna prevent BLMs from returning to Ley Lines, then I suggests adding the following effect:
:^)Quote:
"Removes Ley Lines status from target, inflicts Artist's Block
Artist's Block: Grants Damage Down. If Between The Lines is used, Grants Doom.
Duration:15 seconds. Doom: 3 seconds"
Protip: Jumping off doesn't always work for the succ but standing directly under him when he does Shockwave ensures you will not be knocked off without wasting a Surecast or...True North for melee? Can't remember.
But yeah. Stand under the atomos for that and you'll be safe--just barely.
If you jump off and are over there edge before the attack "hits" it works 100% of the time. Just like tons of attacks in this game it's about understanding when the snapshot happens.
In that case it's very safe to just jump off early anyways, it's not as if it's so tight a dps check that you can't lose an extra GCD or two.
You just have to be over the edge before the marker disappears. If you're not, he still does it and my experience has been that even among the people that know the trick, the timing is often missed due to positioning and the random targeting.
Same with Shockwave too but the cast is longer and thus slightly more forgiving to people who need to get into position. I usually just camp under him to make sure someone is up to activate the seals so people can get back up.
I've actually experienced a wipe to that mechanic. This Expac. Something I was amazed to witness. WoD is always an adventure. Lol.
I've been trying to level MNK recently because I need a melee at 80 and only just now remembered why I dropped the class like a hot potato back in ARR. It's not even the Greased Lightning issues or how bad of a spot the class is in right now. No, it's the ADHD tanks who can't. stay. STILL. Please I'm begging you, you don't need to jump around like a drop of water of a scalding skillet. Just stay in the same general area when dodging mechanics before moving back into your former place. Why is this so difficult? Why? I'm popping True North like it's candy every time it's coming off cooldown these days because 1/3 tanks doesn't understand the basic concept of melee positionals and is often spinning the boss in the middle of my combos.
To all the other melee players out there I want to sincerely apologize for the times I've been this tank, because now I understand your pain and this is karma coming back to bite me.

So having mained Summoner since I started the game and only training other classes at endgame in order to level them all to 80.
I finally took my first steps into that free Scholar they give us.... Because every time I run maps people always assume "You can heal right" >.> Like summoner means we're automatically trained as scholar.
After doing hall of novice and class quests, and a some overworld. I finally decided to take it into a dungeon to practice. Did leveling roulette thinking it'd give me a nice low dungeon as I always seem to get stuck with.
...Nah it threw me into Holminster Switch
I felt sooo bad for my party. I explained to them I was new at the class but they wanted to keep going, and they did small pulls but even then there were so many deaths and the last boss I and one DPS died and the tank and other DPS had to deal with it alone...
I don't know how many times I apologized, but they were cool with it X_X
And before you say it. YES I did read guides and looked up vids on the class. But that doesn't mean I can memorize everything I read and practiced in the heat of battle the first few dungeons.
Just queued manually into Mhach raid, as a WAR for glam.
People dubbed the raid title as "Wiping City of Mhach" so I was expecting one or two wipes in my quest for that tank's glam. But nope, cleared everything without wipes. :D
On my 3rd run however, thrown into team B.
First spider boss, nobody starting the pull? I'm like "Okay, I will pull & try my best."
That's when the team A's tank came in. A Gunbreaker. This GNB seems to use her Provoke on cooldown (!) on basically every target available in this run.
"Oh God, Why...?" I thought.
I just shrug it off when it's done on packs, but bosses? At least stand on top of me (or the current MT) so you won't turn the boss around & mess with positional.
My adrenaline was somewhat high on the last boss in the run because I'm worried she might cleave the rest of raid with that half-arena wide AoE.
Ironically the aggro went back to me everytime after 2-4 attacks without me using my Provoke. [/shrug]
Practice makes perfect :) I can relate to this experience so much as I had a similar trouble handling healing as WHM lv70 because I leveled it from 50 to 70 purely by MSQ roulette (yes, lesson learnt). I had absolutely no grasp on whatever skills learnt on those level range which in turn I massacred a party as a result... surprisingly, in Holminster too. This mystifies me because I first cleared this dungeon on not-so-geared SCH on my first run for Main Quest with less to no trouble. Three wipes in a row on first wall pull, but we pulled it off on 4th try, then everything onward progressed smoothly. I'm surprised nobody was leaving (and supportive too), so I'm very thankful to that group :)
Dun Scaith.
Some people at the start: "Hello i am new" "I am also new".
So, i already see where this is going aka deaths deaths and more deaths.
Deathgaze was hilarious. People died to everything up to an including not cleansed Doom. After someone in the alliance chat started posting all the strats, which... weren't quite followed, but nothing notable happened until Scathach where people again were dropping to to simple stuff and we almost had a wipe at the end where the add spawned and people kepts dpsing the boss, and we had her at 0.1% with lonely healer finishing her off.
And then Diabolos went as well as could have been expected. People not standing in the circles, tanks not soaking the central meteor circle. People running away with the stack markers. People not joining the normal orange stack marker when it's right there and the like.
!!FUN!! Scaith, indeed.
To be fair, "Wiping City" lived up to its name pretty well when it was current content. Arachne wasnt bad. Some people couldnt(honestly still cant) figure out Forgall's megadeath if you tattood the solution in an easy to see and painfully unforgettable place. Calofistari was mostly easy, but the bleed on the hair-cut attack was sharp enough to drop a non-tank in 1-2 ticks if they werent immediately healed. Ozma was the actual problem. People couldnt do assimilation. People couldnt drop meteors properly. People couldnt remember which shape used which attacks. A pull that didnt see some random person(maybe more then one) lose track and go over the edge was uncommon. Im sure some people still have nightmares from that fight.
So I dont usually post in the forums, but I saw this thread and felt I had to share my experiance that nearly made me cry today.
I was doing tam tara deepcroft as a tank.
As I always do when I come into a dungeon I ask if its okay for my todo long pulls and that I usually pull 2-3 mobs at once, I do this to be considerate for the healer who may not be comfortable with that. I had no response usually this means their fine with it.
Well I pull the first 3 mobs and I uise reprisal and rampart, and before I know it im dead, the entire party then dies.
The same is done again, I then die again, Me and the archanist in the group eventually realize the ehaler isnt healling at all, and is using stone2 over and over again.
The archanist ends up healing me the entire dungeon whilst the conjurer does not and we do one pull at a time
To all those who will happily quit Castrum Meridianum just because it's not Praetorium, I'd like you to take your character and press the "Delete" button.
Context: I just got out of an MSQ roulette where I was slotted into an in-progress Castrum run that hadn't even started before more than half the party up and quit because they hadn't landed Praetorium. Making it doubly worse was that there was a first timer in the party. We managed in the end though. I did get lost a couple times because I'm not used to being the lead in Castrum but nobody really minded.
I honestly use Selene because the poor dear hasn't been really viable since 2.0. They did Selene dirty, she deserves to have time in the spotlight.
Guys, I have one hell of a juicy story that you’d have to have been there to believe XD I don’t know the rules for mentioning characters by name, so I won’t mention my 2 awesome teammates (RDM and AST) by name. Brace yourselves, folks, this is a long tale of laughs and disbelief.
I’ve just come back today to Torture Roulette (aka Mentor Roulette) after a little over a year of hiatus. Anyway, I’ve done a good number of runs today, but this one by far takes the cake.
So I get tagged into The Twinning in progress (6 minutes in) and I see this one BRD all by his lonesome. After greeting in chat and asking what happened (which I never got a reply to), I make my way to my fellow musical artist and stand next to him. His first words to me were magical and heartwarming: It’s another BRD...
Not gonna lie, guys, this hurt my delicate feelings. *gasp* One of my people feeling disappointed to see me? It broke my heart </3. I asked what was bad about that. No reply. I commented about the music at least being good while we wait. No response.
Aaaanyway, We’re 2 lonely silent BRDs waiting, and just when I thought all hope was lost, a godsend joins: a tank (PLD). But my joy is short-lived as my fellow BRD leaves immediately after this :( Another DPS (RDM) joins soon after, though, and then the BRD who left comes back as SCH. I thought to myself: Cool! Let’s get this show on the road!
So we start with the second pull in the dungeon (the first pull after the first jump), and it doesn't go too badly except for the tank's HP dropping a bit on the low side at times. We move on to the next pull, and the tank only pulls 2 enemies. This is too little, so I politely ask them to please pull more if they could. The kind-hearted tank obliges. He pulls the next group of enemies then softly melts as if he’d gotten dropped in a pool of lava. The SCH clearly was overwhelmed and I felt bad since I was the one who suggested pulling more. We all die but go back stronger and more determined than ever and work our way through that pull again, this time more slowly. We somehow stumble through to the first boss. We engage the boss and we’re not doing too bad... except for the severe lack of healing. It legit looked like the SCH was only relying on the fairy to heal and they’d just stand there DPSing from time to time. The healing was so lacking to the point where our RDM had to work as a co-healer. And when the SCH hit the glass and released an add, I immediately grabbed aggro on it and ran for my life to the tank to save me and grab it off me... which never happened. I continued to get slapped till the add was killed, with the poor RDM trying to keep me (and everyone else) alive.
Luckily, we survive.
The RDM asks if the healer is afk. No response.
We soldier on.
First pull after the boss, the tank goes out of existence again in the blink of an eye. I honestly don’t even know how we finished that pull. 0 heals were given that day/pull (except from the poor slave who's finally relevant again, known as Selene). But when the tank was going for the next pull, I noticed something... suspicious, to say the least. I legit saw the SCH on follow, going after the tank. I pointed this out and the RDM backed me up on this whole fishy thing going on with the SCH. We theorized it might’ve been a bot.
Anyway, before the next pull, we vote kick the SCH. We don’t wait too long before another healer (AST) joins. Hooray! Now we can continue. But then I get a vote abandon that I decline and it doesn’t go through.
No matter! We got this now.
But wait!
Uh-oh! Is that the Pokéball of doom over the head of the tank? D:
It doesn’t take a genius to conclude the tank initiated the vote abandon and then ragequit when it didn’t go through. I told my teammates I was tempted to stay just to spite the tank since he was clearly waiting for us to kick him. To my joy, my 2 teammates shared my sentiment :D
As we were chatting about the run, the RDM said something I had never come across before and didn’t even know was possible. He/she said that it could have been the same person playing on 2 accounts at the same time. And what do you know! The AST said they had come across something similar in Anyder. It was a tank and a BRD duo. And out of curiosity, the AST did a Lodestone character search on the PLD.
It was the same tank they had come across.
The AST was curious about the BRD who re-rolled as SCH, and I gave them the name.
It was the same BRD they had come across with the tank.
What a small world!
As we are chatting about this amazing coincidence, our PLD comes back online, only to vote abandon then go offline again after it doesn’t go through. He also ignores everything we said to him in chat. Bummer :( A few minutes later, the tank comes back online again. Seeing he was still in the instance, he votes abandon again but this time leaves when it doesn’t go through.
The 3 of us were just patiently waiting for the tank role to get filled. And who do you think joined?
Ding ding ding! It’s the same PLD who left :D
We laughed so hard.
Seeing it was the same instance he had left, the tank votes abandon again then leaves when it doesn’t go through :(
We went back to talking, but then a few minutes later, our favorite tank dropped by again :D
Only to ditch us yet again after yet another rejected vote abandon :(
And this is when we all agreed to stay till time ran out, if necessary, to be there for our beloved tank each time he came back. God, I’m so glad I ran into people who were on the same wavelength and page about this.
What happened after was a series of events of the tank getting tagged into our instance time after time, and us being there to greet him over and over in chat. Every single time the tank came back, he’d vote abandon then leave when it was rejected. After a few times, we upgraded our greeting to the premium version and returned to the entrance to greet the tank in person every time with dances and different cheering emotes. Rinse and repeat. The amount of sass, sarcasm, and trolling in the chat was off the charts. The whole thing was just hilarious. The tank spoke to us a few times, and even the way he was talking sounded off. Like they were a bot or something. The PLD told us that wasn’t how it worked (or something weird along these lines) and that we had to kick him, to which we clearly replied that we had no intention to. After a few more failed tries on his part, he said he wasn’t coming back, but it turned out he loved us too much to abandon us as he kept coming back to us :D And even when the AST told the tank about the way to stop coming back to our instance, the PLD still kept coming back. Either the one brain cell he had disintegrated thanks to us, or the bot was like: CANNOT COMPUTE. CANNOT COMPUTE.
I’ve rarely laughed this much in random content with strangers. The whole situation was so unbelievable yet real. After it was made clear we weren’t giving up and that we were here to stay, our beloved tank said with unshakable determination that he wasn’t coming back this time.
It was a sad, sad day. Our tank walked out on us and never looked back (T_T).
Some time after this, we got another tank. I’ve rarely felt this disappointed in my life. I had already chosen my next emote to greet our beloved tank with. The run was smooth sailing once we got a competent tank and no bots.
All in all, the 3 of us had probably spent a little over 60 minutes in that run, trolling the tank. I never expected to have this much fun just standing in an instance instead of doing the content. I’m blessed to have been able to witness and be part of this whole adventure.
To my fellow mischievous AST and RDM: You rock! You were really awesome, and I’m glad we all ran into each other in that fateful run XD
P.S.: The PLD had the mentor crown -.-
Honestly I feel like I'm the only oen that like Eos' design more, Reminds me of Airy form BD if she was actually as good as she claims...
I'm starting to see why they prefer Selene now. But I Still like the design.
It makes sense lorewise (considering that Eos and Selene are two forms of the same Fairy, Lily), But I sometimes wonder...why did they bother keeping the Selene Form when they removed her entire kit...and why they didn't extent the same courtesy to MCH?
This has happened to me a few times recently. People trying to get vote kicked on purpose, even asking for a vote kick, because they queue for the 50/60/70 dungeon roulette but wanted a level 60 dungeon to farm the relic weapon bitter memories. And then, they will purposely dc/log off just so they can get out of the instance and queue for another roulette without having to deal with the 30 minutes penalty.
This is BEAUTIFUL.
This is the kind of content to warm the hardest of hearts.
A full hour of trolling, but still time enough to actually win.
Shame he didn't accumulate penalty for abandoning over and over, because it was the same instance that somebody had already left from.
Just had a Bardam's Mettle where tank goes and pulls everything in the 1st section dies. Healer is a fresh 66. Tank goes and pulls everything again Hallows and dies and makes a comment about having used their oh crap button. Other people have agro so it turns into a death fest until we all reset again. Tank again pulls everything hallows and dies. Healer asks for smaller pulls tank says OK. Other dps says no. So, tank goes and pulls everything and dies. I say yes let's pull everything thing in a dungeon where thr devs felt like uping how hard things hit. Other dps says let me play the smallest violin I can find for ya. Tank goes and pulls everything and only dies after the other dps somehow died first and the healer ends up d/cing it out of there. The tank and dps leave and I wait for new people.
After awhile a new tank and dps pop in and we clear what's left of the 1st section. We almost kill the three face statues when a new healer pops in. I didn't really want to boot the other healer but I also figured that they probably weren't going to come back. We end up having no issues and crack a few jokes and the new dps even ended up leveling up to 70 at the end. Also the minion dropped. I feel sorry for that 1st healer. The tank and the other dps were jerks and I hope they didn't scare off the new healer.
They were a fresh lv66 Bardem syncs you to 66. I didn't have time to look at their gear. Also, they asked during the death fest due someone still being on the enmity list if the tank could pull less. They were also a whm and whm's skills tend to be later level heavy. Each pull wasn't even 30 seconds long so they wouldn't have had the ability to use Solace. They were clearly new to the dungeon and I'm fairly sure the tank popped Hallowed while still pulling. It only lasts for six seconds.
Bardam's early pulls are nasty to heal, especially on gear, and especially with tanks that don't do their part to mitigate as much as possible, and even more so if the DPS aren't great and things take longer to die (of which we have no idea if it was the case or not). Acting this way to a newbie is a trash tier move.
It was pretty clear after the second attempt that the group wasn't up to doing that pull at that size. A sensible tank will pull less and clear the dungeon in a smooth manner by adjusting to what the healer is capable of handling. This was not a sensible tank.
