I'm not quite sure if you saw my post from earlier, but try using the formula that I used to get from Regal Purple to Rolanberry red, it's just a few posts above this one, I really think it's worth a shot.

Could someone push me in the right direction? I'm trying to get my girlfriend's choco to Colibri Pink and I'm following a chart but it's not working lol. She's currently at Millioncorn Yellow. Any help would be appreciated.
FFXIV Chocobo It does all the math for you and should get you pretty close, if not to, your colour of choice.
Oh I personally use that many fruits per proc. so If it says 4 apples I make sure 4 of my apples I use give 4 procs. That's just how I do it.
EDIT:
Scratch that I just remembered I didn't do that this time around, I normally do, but I just followed the directions as given to me, as far as how many procs, I don't quite remember, but I remember Attack said in their thread about how procs came in certain intervals, if you head over to their thread it may be of better info. then just what they wrote out for me personally. Either way GL.
4 feather procs? Seems a bit much
Seriously, they put a RNG in the process ? Why the heck would they do that, just to frustrate us? I get the roleplay value of feeding your bird for feathers, etc....but with a RNG you could be there for ever trying to get the color you want....
...dumb...
Im having a hard time tryen to get to Deepwood green can i get some help please?
I seem to be stuck in a loop currently. I want Corpse Blue, but am stuck alternating Sky Blue and Celeste Green. I've tried the calculator multiple times now along with that spreadsheet and I keep ending up in this loop instead. I don't want to waste more of my FC's harvest, if possible, so any help is greatly appreciated.
I'm stuck between Regal Purple and Rollanberry Red.... it always changes between this two -_-;
Feed valfruit till first "new feathers" message and you should get Lotus pink or very close to it.
Anyone got their bird land on jet black or pure white yet ?
Just did 18 berries 5 pears 3 plums.
Going from desert yellow to raptor blue
Got the ps4 to record it.
EDIT: Got Seafog Blue, Had to tweak it from there and managed to get raptor blue ^^

So darned simple after mucking about for days and getting nothing I wanted. I fed him a lemon to revert to desert yellow and then fed him everything you see in the photo text in one feeding making sure to only feed a few of each fruit in rotation until it was all gone. 6 hours later my baby is as white as the driven snow! :)
ugh why won't the pic show...right click it and pick show in another tab and it works fine
Referencing the calculator it tells me to feed:
1x pineapple
3x pears
4x apples
This will supposedly help me hit Currant, was shooting for Grape but imma just gamble Currant at this point, it suggests to microfeed. So how would that be?
1x pineapple
2x pears
2x apples
1x pear
2x apples
something like that?
Is there a Wiki or some site that has a comprehensive rundown of the choco colouring? at least to the best of our knowledge so far. And can the OP put it in the OP of his thread? easier than sifting through all 200+ pages of posts. Thanks!
If you're at Royal Blue, depending on your exact RGB value, then Grape Purple should just require apples - maybe about 6? (Royal Blue - Abyssal Blue - Grape Purple). It might help if you take your Chocobo out of the stable before feeding again - I haven't been able to test enough to determine if that normalizes the color value.
If you went ahead and got Currant Purple, then Grape Purple should just require a couple of more apples from there.
I have not read this whole thread but instead skimmed for deepwood, since this is the cycle I am stuck in. I decided to try something and I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere. If you unstable prior to a change it "resets" the timer and the color. So I fed him 1x valfruit and 1x pineapple but surprisingly I got no proc message. I played around some more and decided to unstable and re-stable to reset him and try again. So I started by feeding 1x valfruit and 1x pineapple (the same thing I did first, with no proc) and got a proc.
lolwut
All I can come up with is each rbg value is rolled per feed and is limited by a range. Perhaps it randoms between 3-5, or there is a chance to "crit" a +1 or -1 to the feed?
Randomized, probably a range of 3 to 7, 5 being the average value shift. Someone may have gone full-Ulillillia with spreadsheets for concrete numbers by now.
Currently Deepwood Green, Ink Blue and Kolbold Brown are the darkest colors you can reach with a chocobo - Ink Blue is darkest on most color charts, but it may be different in game. If Jet Black were possible, then people would eventually normalize to that color instead of getting stuck on the color loop trying to reach Soot Black. (Soot Black is lighter than all 3 - so to reach it from the loop you generally want to use a lightening fruit that neutralizes the strong color - plums for Kobold Brown, valfruit for Deepwood Green or pineapple for Ink Blue).
You've encountered the RNG - in your case you're still lighter than your target color. Starting at Gloom Purple, feeding pears should result in ~Charcoal Grey, which is close but not quite there. I would unstable and restable your chocobo, then try Xelphatol Apple x5, Mamook Pear x6, O'Ghomoro Berry x3. Increment from there as needed. If you hit Kobold Brown, Deepwood Green or Ink Blue you've gone too far and need to lighten your color.
I need help with my chocobo. I didn't read the whole thread since it's 292 pages. I tried searching this question all over the internet but I can't seem to find anyone else having this issue.
I've stopped getting messages when I feed my chocobo. It says "<Chocobo> devours the <fruit>" and that's it.
I right now have my chocobo at Coral Pink and am trying to get to Regal Purple. When I feed him any fruit of any kind I don't get the "chocobo plumage will be ready for change in 6 hours" or the "the chocobo is growing new feathers" messages. It's been like this for a couple of days now. Sometimes the first fruit will give me the plumage message, but then no others. I don't want to use fruit only to buy more. I don't know if this is a bug. Can anyone tell me if they've had this issue?
If you feed it 1 of every fruit randomly there is a chance you are simply going around in circles and gaining nothing.
If you like - I happen to have a little data about getting him Regal Purple from Default
Desert yellow
3 apple = millicorn yellow
8 apple = pumpkin orange
3 berry = sunset orange
6 berry = blood red
5 berry = regal purple
Every step here gave only 1 'new feathers' message - so the number of fruit needed might vary a little.
If you wanted to just use a lemon - there is that.
Otherwise you could try here http://ffxivchocobo.com/
Thank you, I have been following a guide, and never fed my chocobo outside the guide. The guide I'm following said to feed him 17 berries, 15 apples, and 18 valfruit. So far over the span of a few days I had fed him 11 berries, 4 apples, and that was all. I got Coral Pink. That day I tried to feed him more apples. The first one gave me the plumage message, the next 3 gave me no message so I stopped. I didn't feed him again until the next day.) I fed him 1 berry and got the plumage message, the next one I got no message. So I decided to try valfruit since it's a different color. I fed him 3 fruit and got no message each time. Maybe it is a bug.
If it starts working again I will try your guide instead, though.
You will not get colour change unless there is a "new feathers" message, plumage message means only that timer started.
From what you describe it still seems that you are feeding random fruit. What colour do you have now and what are you trying to get?
Also, remember, that quite often fruit number to get "new feather message" would differ, so what worked for someone else might not work for you.
Yes, I know about the color message being "growing new feathers." I'm trying to get Regal Purple and now I have Coral Pink. My issue is I don't get any message except "<chocobo> devours the <fruit>" I'm not feeding him random fruit, just the xelphatol apples, O'ghomoro berries. I tried the valfruit to see if it would cause either plumage or feathers message but it didn't cause either. I'm now guessing it's bugged.
[FONT="Comic Sans MS"] have done everything I can to get to Soot Black But every resource I have found and use does not work for me. I always end up with a color I wasn't even aiming for, So far it has let me down. I have blown so much Gil trying to Get soot Black.
Current Color:Marsh Green
Desired Color: Soot Black
If you have any hints or tips to Help me get to soot Black I will really be indebted to you.
any chance of a metalic colored choco?
I haven't helped anyone with chocobo dye in ages and I was going to suggest using the FFXIV Chocobo Colour Calculator by Chopski but it seems it's offline. Chopski if you're still reading any of these threads you should get it working again. It was super helpful!
This means that we're going to have to do some napkin math. It also looks like the original RGB sheet is gone so I'm going to use AttacKat's RGB Colors (again assuming they haven't been changed).
Chocobo Fruit
Plum - Lightens red hues but at the same time increases green and blue hues.
Apple - Deepens red hues but at the same time lessens green and blue hues.
Valfruit - Lightens green hues but at the same time increases red and blue hues.
Pear - Deepens green hues but at the same time lessens red and blue hues.
Pineapple - Lightens blue hues but at the same time increases red and green hues.
Berries - Deepens blue hues but at the same time lessens red and green hues.
Plum (-5, +5, +5)
Apple (+5, -5, -5)
Valfruit (+5, -5, +5)
Pear (-5, +5, -5)
Pineapple (+5, +5, -5)
Berries (-5, -5, +5)
*Note: Using the +/5 integer for easier calculations (this is an approx.).
-------------------------------------------
Starting Colour: Marsh Green
RGB Estimation: 52R, 56G, 34B
Desired Colour: Soot Black
RGB Estimation: 45R, 43G, 36B
Napkin Math
This is based on the +/5 integer for easier calculations. Focus on getting 1 value at a time to the desired colour range (I started with G below which also moved R), then move on to your next value (I focused on bringing the B back down while keeping R/G stable).
2 Berries (-10, -10, +10): 42, 46, 44
1 Apple ( +5, -5, -5): 47, 41, 39 (You could try to stop after the Apple, it might still get you into Soot Black range.)
1 Pear ( -5, +5, -5): 42, 46, 34 <- End RGB Value
-------------------------------------------
You could attempt to stop after 2 Berries + 1 Apple. This feed combo might still trigger Soot Black. The differences between adding 1 pear aren't huge jumps in numbers, approx. 2 -3 points, but I was just trying to do a bit of fine tuning. No guarantee this will break your loop but... for science!
so I want a metalic gold choco what do i dye it from lotus pink?
Damn it all, the Shale Brown algorithm on http://ffxivchocobo.com/en is off!
Followed the calculator completely and ended up with Aldgoat Brown.
Now my chocobo looks just kind of... Sweaty rather than a silky, smokey silver.
It is not that the algorithm is wrong. The thing you have to realize anytime you are dying a bird is that you can get "good" and "poor" procs on the food. there is also the question of whether you were alternating food or not. If you were not alternating you could have over saturated one color and got off in that manner. You just have to now change the start color to your current color to see what additional feeding is needed.
There's a random element. Recalculate after color changes and keep going. Will eventually hit right color. Think took me 6-8 sessions to get right color on old account
