the whole city is a fortress and a huge one with this, they will probably have an area dedicated to the army and stuff link to it. i will not even be surprise to see that the army and the residential area are in the lower area and mixed, while the upper area is filled with the nobility and the knight/templar.

ps: don't hope that the nobility will do plebeian job like the machinist...

Coming from Sharlayan, though, there are only two nations I could see them easily going to: Ishgard and Limsa Lominsa. While a case could kinda be made that Vylbrand has some areas that would make decent observatories, I think we can agree that Coerthas has better areas. . .if it would ever stop with the blizzards, anyway. >_<

That said, all Sharlayan, Ishgard, and Limsa would each have their own means and reasons to read the stars, but only Sharlayan and Ishgard do it for augury (that we know of, anyway). I've no doubt that Limsa has good star charts, but I assume they're more designed with navigation in mind. As for why I assume the AST trainer would be in Ishgard proper instead of in the Coerthas area, I touched on that in the post you quoted.

As for why the Ishgardians are letting Sharlayans into the city to set up shop. . .I've got nothing. I could come up with justifications, but we won't know until we see it.

Yeah, a lot of people seem to be getting the vigilante vibe. Maybe I'm way off base? Then again, a lot of people are also getting a Batman vibe that I'm not really seeing, so maybe that's where there's a disconnect. . .

Well, the description given makes it sound like these are pretty new weapons dotting the walls of Ishgard, with even newer masters (MCH) of those weapons. To me, that sounds like all the Mechanists are currently engaged in the war simply because they're a recent enough emergence to have not retired or been redeployed elsewhere.

As for why they'd put it in the middle of the city? I can only guess they decided having it on close recall was worth the risk.
