So Duty Roulette drops me into Haukke Manor, normal, as a MCH. The rest of the party is a premade consisting of an ARC, a CNJ, and a GLA. None of them are level-synced. I can foresee how this is going to go, but it doesn't really bother me. Everyone needs to start somewhere, I guess, leveling, and all that.

Of course I'm pulling aggro on almost every pull. Even when I switch targets when I pull 1, it doesn't help too much, since even when the groups are down to 1 mob, the GLA still keeps losing aggro to me. Honestly, it doesn't bother me too much, since I can understand that tanking without access to your job stone sucks. I've experienced it myself.

So this continues until we're near the second boss, and I use the LB -- which I've already used once, on the first boss -- on a group of mobs. And GLA starts bitching at me, claiming that I "fuck up DPS", and that if I'd just attack the mobs he's attacking, I wouldn't be peeling mobs from him. I don't bother pointing out that this is what I've been doing ever since they actually bothered to mark it, nor have they actually mentioned that they'd like me to do this.

Naturally, it ended with me being vote-kicked. I never once used a shred of abusive language towards any of them, and the only comment I made about their playstyles was saying the GLA could stand to use Flash a bit more.

It's so frustrating. I can be the nicest, friendliest, most helpful player anyone's ever met, but having to deal with people like these just drain all my patience. If they'd just spoken up and told me to attack specific mobs, without being assholes about it, I would've done it without a single complaint. But they just had to be nasty. On the bright side, I didn't have to deal with them anymore and since they very nicely left me all their names, I got to make a report.

Just never lose the friendly attitude and niceness etc, those kind of players aren't worth you fretting over, they lost out and they were ultimately poor players for not explaining or saying anything and then blaming all their shortcomings on you when the Tank was clearly at fault.

Haven't posted here in a while, but I've had plenty of crappy DF runs since my last post.

Let me just touch on two that really stick out, one of which happened less than 30 minutes ago.

A few weeks ago, I was level AST, and since I was at 58, that meant The Vault. Okay. I hate that place. Every time I go in, unless its with my friends in a premade, I always get derpy party members and we wipe on the 2nd boss (sometimes), and usually always wipe on the last boss. Anyways, I went in with a friend who was leveling his BRD. We get a BLM, and a DRK.

First off, the BLM was using Transpose. Now, i don't know much about BLM since my THM is only lvl 26, but I do know they have Blizzard III and Fire III to use rather than transpose. DPS was really slow, and the tank was super squishy, so no DPSing for me. I was constantly running at below half MP, and OF COURSE, my heart of the cards didn't think I actually needed those Ewers. So I'm popping LA every time it's off cooldown, and my friend is playing his song for me when needed. We wipe on the last boss because there were three of those bubbles EVERYWHERE, and so the tank decides to turn the boss facing me. Well, I'm mid-cast for a Benefic II (had to spam that the entire time because Benefic just wasn't enough), and while I'm trying to run, the boss cleaves, and I die. They manage to pull through while I respawn at start.

Skip to last boss: I do my usual pre-pull shield buffs in noct, and then switch to diurnal and draw a card (FINALLY A EWER!), when the BLM starts complaining about how they can't believe I'm healing in diurnal instead of noct and how, as a level 60 AST, they ALWAYS use noct. I said I prefer diurnal in here because the regens from my AB and AH help, rather than my poor shields that break with half a hit. I said we all have our own preferences. By then, my shields have worn off, and the tank pulls, so no time to recast them. We get to the DPS check, and, with me DPSing and my BRD friend popping every buff he had, we still had 2 orbs left. After that, the horses come out, tank stands in them, gets hit with Bleed, and proceeds to die. This happens twice (as in we wipe twice to the SAME mistakes).

BRD friend give tank advice, asking him to use Dark Mind and Delirium combo to help with the damage he's taking (which is a lot). BLM says "Why bother when we aren't getting heals." Oh my god, I lost it. I spent the entire dungeon at below half MP, spamming every heal and regen I had, praying for more and more Boles and extending them with Royal Road and Time Dilation whenever I could to use on the tank, and ACTUALLY hoping for Ewers to hold for myself. So I tell them such. Tank jumps in (they're together btw) and accuses my friend of facetanking (because he jumped in and accused the tank of refusing to use cooldowns other than Convalescence, which he popped at full health, as well as Living Dead). My friend lost it and said the only damage he was taking was the unavoidable AOE damage the last boss dishes out. We argue at the boss for a bit, and then begin. But before, the BLM looks at me and says "Try actually healing this time, dollface." They proceed to stand still while chained and take about as much damage as they can, and I don't even try to heal them. I am so done with them at this point. I spent the entire dungeon keeping everyone alive and really? Doll face?

We actually clear without the BLM, and they're like "OMG, you CAN heal." And I said "Yeah, I can. Doll face." They proceed to leave all butthurt, followed by their friend. It was terrible. I refuse to ever heal The Vault again.

Second one: Sunken Temple on DRG with a friend. Healer refuses to heal...too busy DPSing and pulling mobs/bosses. Tank dies twice, and they they complain at us for not using Chaos Thrust combo (lol we're level 37 wut yes, let's use a level 50 skill at 37 why not), and not using both DoTs (always using Phleb, and Disembowl is lvl 38...). This was after they used the healer LB twice when none of us were dying because we were "wasting it" by not using it at the very beginning I guess... Terrible. Just...terrible.


TL;DR - I hate DF.

That's a great story! It reminds me of the time I was in Brayflox normal and the tank pulled every mob in the first area and we wiped, twice in a row.
(The third time he pulled every mob AND ran right into the boss and began attacking the boss too.) We kicked him. Then the healer left. Amazingly, we got a new one right away.
We waited a while for a tank, but no one came.
I was a Summoner and not level synced. I had never used Topaz carbuncle in a dungeon before, but decided to try it.
It was really challenging to control both the pet and myself, switching from mob to mob to maintain enmity.

The healer told me it was very difficult to heal the pet because it doesn't appear in the PT list, so I had to use Physick to heal it myself.
We get to the last boss with no deaths. As soon as we engage the boss, a tank joins the PT but doesn't make it to the boss before the area is closed off.

I'm moving carbuncle out of the poison from the boss and balancing physick and DPS. The healer and DPS in the group were awesome and very patient.
We beat the boss on the first try without a single death.

I haven't used Titan-Egi in a dungeon yet, but Topaz Carbuncle, when used correctly in low level dungeons, can be an awesome tank.

And this is how I fell in love with being a summoner.

Sometimes it's difficult to see what mob the tank is attacking, or sometimes the tank will switch to another mob pretty quickly.
I have one of my keybinds on my mouse to "target target's target". So if I select the tank, and then press the key, it automatically switches to the tank's target.

Because I'm a healer, switching back to the tank is as easy as pressing the key again. Another mouse key is to switch in and out of cleric stance. So to switch to mob to tank, turn off CS, turn on CS, switch back to mob, is really easy.

If you haven't been using "Target target's target", it might be a useful keybind to try out.

UPDATE: Ran with guild member and two patient strangers, got good boss fight info, whole thing went smooth. Completion achieved.

That does sound useful, but the exact same effect can be achieved by simply having someone to mark a target to focus on. I don't run into a situation where it would be necessary too often, though, so it doesn't justify devoting a keybind to it for me. But ultimately, I wasn't the one throwing a tantrum and insulting the tank for not being able to keep aggro from me. They were the ones insulting me for doing too much DPS. As a level 31 MCH.

Reminds me of my 1st vault run. DRK was bitching about everything, bearing in mind we weren't doing anything wrong. So, we get to the last boss fight, and there's a fight in chat between me (NIN) and the DRK, which in my replies I'm not swearing or being mean, just being sarcastic. Well eventually, we get a new healer and because the DRK was being a bitch, there's a vote kick for me, healer clicks yes and there I go.

First and last vote kick I've ever gotten.

And yeah, I hate the dungeon finder too. Too bad this game doesn't really have much to do at level cap if you're trying to avoid the DF like the plague :(

Did a Void Ark run last night, and the DPS in our party consisted of three BRDs (including me) and two BLM. Three BRDs to sing Foes Requiem, this should go pretty well, I thought. I tell everyone "I've got first Foes", they respond with "K".

I notice that after I'm out of MP, neither of the other BRDs sing. I ask "Foes?"...no response. I sing Foes again at the first boss, and get nothing from either of them once I'm out of MP. "Maybe they don't know how Foes works" I think to myself. I guess I'll just keep it up as much as I can and hope that they pitch in at some point.

As we fight the first boss, I keep seeing Wide Volley (AOE) come down when it's just the boss and no ads. I can't for the life of me figure out why they'd be using an AOE on a single target, but whatever. I start watching them a little closer, and notice that they're literally doing nothing but spamming Wide Volley until they're out of TP, then auto-attacking. No DOTs, no CDs, no songs...just AOE attacks on a single target. Same pattern on the second boss, and they wouldn't even bother to pick up the Arc Ked ads as they spawned.

I'm finally starting to see why BRD's get a bad rep. At the end of VA, one of the BLM's commented something along the lines of "You BRDs should really learn how to play" before he zoned out. Some of us are trying, I promise!

While leveling Conjurer up to 34 in anticipation of unlocking the HW content (the struggle is real though, these filler quests are soul-sucking), I get Haukke Manor. Load in, greet everyone and mention it's my first time healing this. As I'm typing, the tank has disappeared...where did he-? I see his health start dropping in chunks, then he comes high-tailing it back to us with I can only assume the entire first area behind him.

A fustercluck ensues, people dying left and right, anarchy, madness, wailing and gnashing of teeth, etc... I notice the tank respawn and take off running again. I call out to everyone to wipe and regroup so we can rebuff and actually work together instead of just dying repeatedly. The DPS agrees and we wait for a few seconds for the tank to die again (this is his 5th splat by this point, without even a "wwwww" from him) so we can move forward as a full party. Tank respawns, we respawn, I start casting Protect...and he's run off again. I say "fudge it, lets follow him, see how this goes" we all take off chasing this insane person. He leads us to the door we're supposed to open, then because we haven't managed to kill more than 1-2 mobs and nobody has a key, he just auto-runs into the door and dies from the 10 mobs smashing his face in. Because I was stupidly trying to keep him alive, thinking we might actually work together, I proceed to kiss the floor, followed shortly by the dragoon and black mage.

I just...I can't. I apologize to the DPS, but I've exceeded my quota of stupid for the day and take the penalty. There was no way to vote-kick this guy because he just kept running into mobs and respawning constantly. So that was my worst experience as a baby healer. :(

I was in Stone Vigil with a tank who used no cool downs and, I can only assume, was chatting with their FC / LS during every encounter.
They engaged the mobs, used flash, and then only auto-attacked. When one mob would go down, it would take them 10 seconds to switch to another mob. They were just standing in the same spot not moving during almost every fight.

Only in the boss encounters did they actually move around.
I really really hate it when people constantly chat in their FC or LS during a dungeon run. If you aren't ready to focus on the dungeon, don't join the roulette. It's not so hard to say to someone "Hold on, going into a dungeon. Be right back in 20 minutes.".

Is it?

Did two runs of M4 last night to get my last shaft as a WHM and had a... difficult MCH during the first run.

He died at the beginning of the second phase to one of the adds because one of the tanks didn\\'t pick it up. I raised him, no big deal, but he ended up dying immediately to some AoE. He told us to just leave him dead on the ground as "he\\'d end up tanking the boss again and just die". I sent him another raise but he immediately declined it.

I said, "What the hell dude? Take the raise, you\\'re wasting my MP." He continued to refuse.

I said, "Don\\'t roll on loot then." No response. Tried to raise him again but he let it time out. I told him that he can\\'t just join a duty and refuse to participate. That\\'s when one of the DPS had the brilliant idea to wipe and kick the guy. And we did. Waited til Transform and let him wipe us, bye bye MCH.

We got a replacement partway through the first phase, wiped once again (one of the tanks pointed Brawler's tank buster towards the group, silly mistake), but made it the third try. I didn't even mind the wipe, just as long as that stupid, stubborn MCH was gone.

My Story

Wanting a break from the high level grind I made a lowbie on another server, decided to go with a warrior because I didn't have that class finished yet.
I do my thing, leveling through the msq with a heavy dose of dungeon tanking because I like playing with other people in an mmorpg.
Have my ups and downs grouping as anyone does, like today for instance; I'm level 40, did my class quest, picked up some upgrades from the msq until I'm stuck at the intro quest to do Stone Vigil.

I queue for Cutter's Cry to pick up the extra half level I need to move on. I get grouped with a summoner, healer whose class wasn't important, and this ultra special ninja.

We get protect and I run in and pull the first two antlings, clunk em a couple times with overpower then start into my tanking combo. as I'm going through my rotation the ninja says "next time pull all" and proceeds to aggro the two bats, forcing me to spam overpower while chasing her trying to pick up aggro.
We kill the mobs ok and I tell the group that I don't do mass pulls. As I am typing the rogue pulls the wave of antlings that spawn and again I'm frantically trying to gather them up, as they scatter, some chasing the rogue, some the healer, and the one I threw my axe at actually on me.

Again we kill the mobs and I tell the group "if they keep doing that they need to kick me". The Ninja responds saying "Always do big pulls with SMN in group" which is utter crap, there is no "always"

I probably should have left right there, but when I get angry I get stubborn... And I needed the xp so I can move on in the story.
We move on to the next room and kill the initial mobs no problem, I go to pull the wave of antlings and as I'm throwing my axe again the rogue pulls the ones on the other side of the room so before I can gather them all up the rogue and summoner have already started dpsing, as well as the healer throwing regen on me before I've even hit one overpower.

So the mobs scatter again, at least this time everyone moved together so I could hit overpower on them and gather aggro. Whatever, we move on to the antling boss.

After we kill the first boss I stop before using the portal to the next area and tell the ninja that they either need to cooperate, or kick me, to which the ninja responds with "I'm just trying to help you play better" and the summoner starts complaining, telling me to "get over it and just go", etc.

Again, I should have left at that point, but I'm stubborn, but it's not about the xp at that point.

The ninja then threatens to report me for going afk in a dungeon and "enjoy your 2 day ban". I tell them I haven't left, just waiting for them to start cooperating.

Things calm down a bit as I move to the next area and pick up aggro on the mobs they had pulled without me were beating on the healer. we move along, things are ok again, go through and on the worm boss the rest of the group just cant get the concept of not standing in the center of the room when the boss burrows, making the healer have to bust her butt keeping everyone alive.

After the boss I point this out while waiting on the healer to port to the next area with us, go to pull the first group and the ninja and summoner seem bound and determined to rip aggro off of me, targeting mobs other then the one I'm currently on, dotting every damn thing they can, meanwhile the ninja is calling me a horrible newb tank, saying she hates newbs, that they think that "they know everything", pretty much everything she can short of actually cussing at me, while I only let two mobs lose aggro on me all of the rest of the way to chimera

During all of this I'm grumbling to my FC about people being stuck up jerks and right before the the boss room I mischannel a message intended for the FC to the group, basically calling the ninja a b**** trying to teach me how to play better by making it harder for me to grab aggro.

WHOOPS. Utter silence from the group as we go into the boss room

Skip the cutscene for chimera and hit a readycheck, which the healer doesn't respond to, so I wait, the healer then comes into the boss room and I ask if we're good to go, to which I get some sort of positive emote, so I say "yolo" and pull the boss, getting him set in the center of the room and starting into my aggro combo.

Without noticing that while I was doing so, they all had ran out of the boss room and were standing there watching.

Knowing I'm hosed, I just go with my rotation, dodging the aoes, blowing cooldowns and just seeing how long I can survive; I may have typed "lol" and "wow, nice one" in chat, as I was genuinely laughing at that point about how well they had gotten me. So I die, no surprise, release from my corpse and respawn at the entrance, with a compliment to them on their nice work trolling me, shortly after which my screen goes dark and I'm in Central Coerthas having been votekicked.

Laughing I queue for cutter's cry in progress but get a different group, so I guess they dropped out instead of waiting on a tank to queue in progress.

I ain't even mad, they got me good.

So, I decided to do Void ark earlier >_> Not counting the tank, I had the highest hp, which sometimes happens, thats fine, but the pt was barely breaking 10k hp, which is what, ~190? 180? So thats ok, new people. No new message. Welp, here's where the problems started happening. Even using quelling, I was pulling hate off the rest of the alliance half the time, so idk how geared the rest were. Then the healers, omg the healers -.- I swear, they only healed themselves, the tank and maybe 1 other person, seeing as me and the blm never got any cures which resulted in us dying from unavoidable damage. On the 3rd boss, no one killed the 4th tower and with the healers not actually healing the whole pt, half of us dropped from just the single DoT (╯°□°）╯︵ ┻━┻

Going off of how usually VA goes pretty quick these days and this one was like, day 1 slow, I'm going to have to assume by some rng, the alliance was filled with mostly people who got carried in other VA pts or something. Sort of like that time I did A8 and we wiped terribly due to 6/8 people in the pt not knowing the mechanics....with no new person message.

Cutter cry, me poor lvl 38 DRK, barely geared, vs 3 lvl 60 or at least wayy higher then me. Ok at that point I already knew it would be a pain. Said and done. Pull first mobs, even marked them, they all go full force and on different targets so I lose aggro no matter how much I was spawning nothing was working.(I had forgetten *tank stance* as I was in a previous run in Sastasha nm and had it removed) even with that on nothing changed.. at that point I decided that it would be a better day for me to...NOT tank and just go DPS. and let whoever wanted to tank do it...no need to shout or get angry...and they did..so we finished the Cutter without a tank and 4 dps, stupid ? yes. but why should I fight for aggro with people that enjoy just going full force and speed pulling before you, hitting different targets and the like ?...no need...right ?....one of them at the end even said she was on the same server as me..why should that even matter ?...I had a good time could do DPS and see how DRK works as a dps...overall a nice change.

I came to this conclusion long ago, it doesnt make any sense to fight for aggro with people that dont care, on the contrary will do all they can to not let you tank, so yeah...works marvels. Especially if you are ugh tank like me..no need to get angry, or frustrated just let them do.

Had the weirdest Void Ark run ever.

As soon as we load in, the tank in our Alliance starts shouting stuff about how he's going to MT everything and how the other two tanks should just go into DPS stance and give up any idea of tanking. When everyone else is like 'uhh okay' he continue shouting about how good he is and all, all throughout the entire run, until he apparently realizes nobody really gave a damn up until that point and ends up early pulling the knots. He subsequently fights the other two tanks for control of their morbols, leaving me to die to OUR morbol when it finally spawns.

And then at Irminsul, he early pulls again to the point where one of the other two tanks gets locked out, and he fights with the other tank for control of BOTH bosses, which results in the middle root tearing our alliance apart. It gets to the point where people start observing infighting within our own alliance through alliance chat, and one of the other DPS got so fed up by the whole debacle after the fight that he initiates a vote kick on the tank that passes when we reach the next boss.

What happened next? Turns out he came in with friends, a Scholar and a Summoner, who start talking about how we just kicked an actual good tank. And as retaliation, both of them kill themselves against Chuculain, leaving our alliance with 4 DPS and a single healer for that fight. We end up getting past the boss regardless, so as even further retaliation, they run up to Echidina and pull her immediately. We kill her anyway. Of course, since I'm the one that opened my mouth about how he wasn't really a good tank at all, they think I'm the one that initiated the vote kick and refuse to heal me and such, though it's not like healing is really needed at that fight. After we beat her, the Dragoon in our party who tanked half of Irminsul earlier reveals that he was the one who initiated the kick.

I get that people want to troll sometimes, but that quickly went from amusing fun into really malicious territory.

You're a better person than me, Kshuryo, I'd have kicked the ninja asap. I can deal with other player's mistakes, NP, but when it comes to intentional stupidity I am unforgiving as Ramuh's tank buster.

Maybe, but it was ungeared alt that was using Ms rewards, plus she lacks experience as a war. Besides, if you rush a boss thinking the others have your back when they don't you're gonna get rocked.

Bad VA run last night. Went with some friends so they could get their matter drop, and I'm trying to get the rest of the VA gear for my AST (to no avail, it seems...RNGesus is not my friend right now). Anyways, our alliance was terrible. We were in B, and it pretty much went like this: ranged standing too far away for my friend and I (I'm on AST and he's on SCH) to get our shields/regens on them, terribly low DPS (I've never been part of an alliance with such slow DPS), and a bunch of derpy people. I mean, we wiped on the room with the knots because NO ONE was killing them other than myself and my friend when we weren't busy trying to keep these DerPS (who pulled Alliance A's mobs to our side for whatever reason and was killing them) from dying. It was terrible.

Worst part: no healing gear, and one of the BRDs in our alliance (which we hardcore carried) got the Triple Triad card. -___-

In his possible defense, Sch is like the only job in the game that actually laments that an additional cross class slot wasn't given at level 60.

I could see the case for someone queuing into a level 50 dungeon with Cleric's Stance, Aero, Blizzard II, Swiftcast, and Stoneskin.

Pretty much it's cutting Protect for Blizzard II for extra DPS if you know big pulls are going to happen, and frankly if I know I'm partying with a Pld it's actually probably a better set to run with since the Pld can just use Protect themselves (Not like Plds exactly have amazing cross class skills).

Alternately you can have Protect set, and then swap it out for Blizz II, but the majority of tanks don't want to wait for the time to swap your skills.

If he wasn't using Blizzard II then...maybe he was just PvPing with Surecast?

It seems PvP doesn't appear here often. Maybe because there are lots of uncooperative people in there, but I had a party with someone who really took the cake.

In the beginning I thought they were going to be a pretty good leader. They were using /shout commands to guide people where to go.
But I realized something was wrong when they began using their macros to tell people NOT to chase people too deeply into their area. Yet, the only one who was running headfirst into the enemy was him / her.
Then, we chased the enemy away from the Tomelith they had occupied. I, and I alone, am taking the tomelith from them. When I am almost done with the first interaction, this person runs over and waits for me to finish. When I go to interact the 2nd time, they must have been clicking faster than I was, because they were somehow able to put up our banner before me.

I know it's stupid to care about "who puts it up", but it's the principle of it. It was really rude. It was clear by either looking at the party or at the tomelith in front of them that I was already halfway done with the first interaction.

Great, I'm in a group with this doofus again.
Immediately they begin spamming /shout commands with sound effects, 3x per macro.
The highlight of this person's exploits was when they shouted "Everyone gather together!! Gather together!".
Except 70 people were in the north. 2 people were in the far south. This wacko and 1 other person.
They decided to attack some base with just 2 people.
I think they died 6 times.

Okay first of. I have literally tanked as every job at some point. This includes healing and black mage. Which well Black mage ended badly for me. Like I died damn quick.
A few of those were because of bots joining or tanks quitting.
Last one was Satasha Normal I was playing whm of course. As it is my main. But the tank dropped not even a third of the way through the dungeon. We kept him there until the first boss. From that point on I basically healed and tanked using media to keep agro. We had to stop a few times for me to regen mp but it worked. At the last boss I had to ask the lancer to tank only so I could kite the adds. It actually worked.
But enough bragging about how I can tank as not a tank.

I did my 50 roulette once a few days ago as a warrior. One of my favorites... Keeper of the Lake, I hate that one in truth. Over done it. I pull like I tend to when healer, is well geared. I notice the healer, a scholar, seems to be having a hard time keeping up. So I watch the healer to see why. When I notice that the person isn't doing anything at all. Not dpsing not healing. Just standing there so their fairy heals me alone. If I wasn't in the mood to wait for a new one I would have called them out on it.

And don't say that scholars are harder to heal with. I've had really good scholars recently. Ones that know how to do their jobs really well.

And last thing. I dislike white mages that use medica 2 all the time to heal just the tank. It isn't required at all. While I love the skill I think most whm that just hit 50 over use the skill and don't realize their core skills are cure, cure 2, and regen.
But since I main as whm I don't get upset but I do teach healers that lesson by giving them advice on healing. At level 50 a whm should barely have agro on anything really. Gaining most it when dpsing actually, that's if the tank knows what they are doing.

Just got barked at for using caster LB to take out the dolls in Antitower.

Healer said that it's crucial for a melee to LB that boss because apparently its damage goes crazy at the end of the fight despite me never having a problem tanking or healing it before, and the tank said I'm a fail DPS because of how I used LB despite me pulling aggro from him constantly with just AoEs, and my DPS being quite high.

You never cease to learn new things in DF I suppose O.o. I guess doing inferior damage with LB on an easy boss at the end of the fight when you won't maximize LB's effectiveness is the right way to do things. Gotta love when bads try to convince you why bad is good.

Fastest Cali fight I ever had, caster LB on the second set of Dollhouse. Was a good call.

Right?

Hitting multiple things that zoom around the room and slow down the fight with caster LB > hitting a very easy, stationary boss with melee LB. More overall damage going out from LB and it negates a fight slowdown mechanic.

The funny thing is, our other DPS was a monk. I'm sure he appreciated me greatly reducing the need for him to chase dolls around the room.

Have been in The Navel (Titan fight) a couple of times, but, even knowing mechanics and running fast I would get knocked off about 50%-60% of the times I was targeted. Never have noticeable lag elsewhere but people say for new players lag can make that fight rough. So in my third run this week (gee thanks Roulette for bringing it up for me so often) a nice player says "hug his ass". I did. Rate went down to 10%, and that was after I ran through him and was well on the other side from the blast when it went off, so yeah probably lag. Only took two tries after the ass technique was employed to take Titan down (the one fail being the weird hit from the other side thing). So, thanks again friendly veteran player.

Titan can be hard for new players, wait intill Titan hm and Ex you'll gonna be crying yourself to sleep

I've been having a blast with MCH lately. Today I was spamming lv 50 roulette for the tomes while getting some xp with it and had a rash of just awful tanks. Even worse, it kind of proved the adage of "DRK is for DPS that are tired of the queue." Out of 11 runs, 8 of the tanks I got were dark knights wearing at best fending accessories. Maybe a tank belt or one other piece of tank gear. But they were all wearing DoW equipment of various levels ranging from 30 (yes, lv 50 roulette, tank wearing a level 30 DoW belt) to 130 accessories...of slaying. One of them was wearing a mix of dex and int gear. What is with all the super crap drks these days?

Kind of an opposite story though:

Just ran Vault as NIN. On last boss, our healer died because MCH wouldn't move while Holy Chained. I check the bosses health, 17%, so I look to LB bar as I haven't heard it yet, to see if we can save the run. It is just about to hit two bars, like a second away.

"We have this!"

Tank has moved boss, and as I position for LB, it hits two bars, immediately the MCH LBs, and my heart sinks...

We end up getting him to 1%, the melee LB would have meant a win, not a wipe.

I say that the melee LB does more single target damage, and is better in that situation, and the MCH flips about "You shouldn't let it sit full half the fight! Use the damn thing!"

I point out that it literally hit two bars as he hit it, which he had to know, and he starts on about, "Oh, it was full thirty seconds before I used it" and such.

He obviously dies the next attempt, and our healer, who was obviously struggling makes the right call to leave that dead weight floor tanking, and we win it.

Well, one step at a time, only been playing 15 days. I am sure there are lots of things waiting to raise my blood pressure to unsafe levels. I am just glad I am not automatically a total dead-weight when I get that in Duty Roulette now.

EDIT: Not sure how hard it is but I want to do The Lost City of Amdapor one day simply because the music sounds wonderful from the vids I've listened to from the OST on YouTube.

Good news is most dungeons are very easy in the game, so there's little fear in running them...though Lost City in particular happens to have a somewhat unique mechanic at the last boss.

So... Sastasha. Beginning to see why so many people hate it. Was doing it on Archer tonight, with a CNJ, LCR, and MRD. I think the healer was the only non-green leaf. I suppose it wasn't exactly bad... but I have to wonder if the marauder and lancer spoke English. Not a single word the entire run, not even in answer to questions. And it was so slow, omg, with me accidental ripping aggro right and left. And the last fight, of course, myself and the healer are the only ones trying to keep the adds from spawning. It doesn't work. They fill the room, boss is at 15% I think? LB is almost full to the second bar. Hell with it. Tank just died, I use it. And there we go, wipe prevented. Yet, not a single comm. :(

Earlier this evening, I managed to get Antitower for my Expert. Group was Ast/Drg/Mch, so I didn't do max pulls, due to not having the strongest aoe, but the run went fast anyway. The cherry on top? The MCH limit breaks the second dollhouse, getting both dolls and the boss for a nice clean fast Calcabrena fight - and my comm. :)

Not long after that, I did Neverreap. Group was Ast/Mnk/Drg, tho I wasn't paying attention at first and pulled both of the entire first 2 islands (yes, full pulls on each island) before looking. Things melted fast enough, the AST had time to dps, and I wasn't in any danger of dying, so I didn't stop doing much the same thing all run, with the only time I didn't pull to a wall being the tree+bees pull (tho I did pull the tree and all 4 bees). Was a nice fast run.

And just now, I did Fractal. SCH+DRG+SMN. Asked about big pulls, got the OK, so the only big pull I didn't do was the monster after the second boss, simply because the SCH dropped Deathflare at the second set of dolls (I guess? the mini trash mobs in the alcoves of the second room), which is, to me, a stop sign. I figure that if I'd kept going we could've easily done the full 3-room pull. Trash melted. Bosses were a bit slower, but not much. Great run overall. :)

All in all, 3 very good runs from DF this evening/morning. :)
