The equivalent would be going from jenova absolute to a back to back fight with ruby and emerald weapon.

Guess what, I was doing pre-FCOB literally a week ago. Our static just cleared T9 after working at it for a month (2 days a week) and we are 2 days fresh into T10. Oh, you thought I was some super endgame raider? No, I just don't like content I am doing become worthless in terms of difficulty because someone wanted instant gratification. Thankfully we completed T6-T7 before the nerfs, and the mechanics weren't changed much with T8 and T9.
I did probably 6 T7 runs post nerf, and 4 T8 runs, one of which was with our static clearing it for the first time. Yes, from what I recall comparing T7 pre-nerf and T7 post-nerf, the fight was EXTREMELY nerfed to the point those runs were done in DF with complete strangers. Even NyarukoW, one of the big advocators of nerfing coil said it was "good enough" for them, and IIRC completed it in DF. We were literally laughing how nerfed the fight was when half the raid got petrified from a shriek and we recovered (again, with strangers on DF). People began stoning each other as a joke. Same with T6, people just ignored blighted bouquet cause they could take the hit.
Yes, T7 is extremely easy in comparison.
Who says ignoramus?Quote:
Go do some pre-FCOB coil before making an ignoramus of yourself.
This is often the problem. "We did T7 with our static and newly over geared characters and it was a walk in park, especially with the echo boost!" Forget the fact that they spent hours just trying to clear this fight prior to the nerf and know it inside out. Forget the fact that most have probably not actually DF'd it. Solo.
Now I've only gotten up to T9 myself (shift work, not making 7 others rotate their schedule weekly for poor old little me). I could care less about advancing it at this point, I've chosen to focus elsewhere. But when the only argument to people not experiencing the story is "BUT THE CHALLENGE!!!!" you really have no argument. Some people play video games for *gasp* fun. They want 0 stress from it and it's completely understandable. They don't want loot, they want nothing, just the story and a toned down fight. MONTHS after the content has been released. Do you people even care that people are still completely T1-T5 right now? I'm gonna go ahead and say no. So what does it matter if these people complete a nerfed version for some story?
This was the same thing as CoP back in the day. People got a sense of elitism from completing it's initial form. They got really angry when SE finally nerfed it. Only problem, it was one of the best expansions that game had released in terms of story. Again, it's biggest barrier was creating a static with the same schedule with HOURS to waste on stuff like The Three Paths (5-3 I believe?). Of course, by the time it was nerfed, people got through it, no one actually gave a shit. If you're on to current content, what's it matter to you if people are beating down irrelevant content for shits and giggles?
lol, he clearly mentioned how easy turn 7 was after echo got introduced and you 'guessed' that he hasn't done t7 since fcob came out? You realize echo for scob came out like a month after fcob right?
I guess this is why people just wipe over and over on already nerfed and echo fights. Even with the hand outs they still don't pay PROPER attention.
I read the OP, it boils down to he wants a hand holding mode for raids when developers for the most part already gave it to you. And yes, most people were stuck on T7 when 2nd Coil was in it's prime. There was more to it than simply RNG. Like someone said, if you really are that determined to not do anything and expect something in return, there is YouTube. Wanting your character in the cut scene however requires effort on your end, so start learning how the fight works.
Perhaps I was not clear enough in my explaination but I'm not talking short term interests in Coil but a long term interests in Coil. There will always be people interested in stuff like Coil but the amount of people interested in it may not be at the level as it is now due to being old content and currently the amount interested in coil is not a lot compared to the majority of FF14 population. As time pass the amount of people interests in it may only decrease over time even with a supply of new players it may not cover enough to supply enough groups for Coil at a regular amount of time.
Right now in 2.X era and 3.X era Coil may remain within the boundry of steady population of players entering it due to the constant supply of new players both casual and hardcore within the lvl 50 and soon to be lvl 60 range. However, long term wise the amount of people entering coil may most likely decrease since it will lose the value of repeating coil beyond vanity and Coil Storyline most likely near the end of 3.X era or 4.X era.
Coil was not designed to be sustained for a long term lifespan after all and only served to survive within a short term life span of 2.X and early 3.X era as endgame content.
No it doesn't.
It boils down to having a separate mode for the nerfed version (and including T5, then T9), not touching the original version for those who loved it. But it's easier to ignore that and continue affirming people like me want to be spoon fed.
Just for your info, I'm working on T11 and soon to down it ("soon" being in terms of raid hours, our schedule isn't fixed), so please get that idea out of your mind. I don't need to be held by the hand and guided. Your arguments, whatever they may be, would have more weight if they weren't based on belittling the other part.
Honestly, after 2nd coil was nerfed, I didn't even bother starting to even try with Final Coil. I've been doing other stuff and enjoying myself while waiting for the inevitable nerf.
Sure, why not? It's not like there would be any reward for the story versions of the fights, and people who are more interested in the story and for whatever reason can't get a static going due to time/skill can experience what is actually an incredibly important part of the story. Who cares if other people are clearing easier versions of the fights just for a cutscene reward, seriously?
