If there's anything to come with 7.0 (which isn't very likely as they didn't add all the old haircuts yet), I'd expect it to be done in the same way we had with hairstyles - adapting a portion of gear in every patch rather than everything at once.

(Which personally I'd be fine with. The amount of gear IS massive).

That's good news but also slightly odd, no? If they're actually starting the work then why not Hrothgar also.

Unless they're waiting for female Hrothgar like they did with male Viera and hairstyles.

There is a lot of time between now and Dawntrail. Evidence of work in this department being done at all does imply to me that they will be somewhere with it by the time 7.0 launches. Now, like you I expect it will be done in batches every major patch just like how they handled hairstyles in Endwalker, but I expect every "new" item will function starting from 7.0 onward while they work backwards to adapt a batch of older currently non-functioning items every patch. It likely won't be a flip of a switch where suddenly everything works, but they are going to future proof newly released items the same way they future proofed all new hairstyles for Viera and Hrothgar from 6.0 onward.

They started adapting hairstyles to Viera before Hrothgar as well so I don't really think it is odd, just disappointing. I will hold out hope that both will get simultaneous updates but truthfully I'm not confident in this.

Yes that's what I mean :) they didn't start with Viera hairstyles until male Viera were done. I can sort of understand it if that is the case, but it's probably going to breed more resentment.

Oh, it will absolutely breed more resentment. I guess if it's any consolation for Hroth players male Viera never got an update that female Viera didn't also receive at exactly the same time so it's highly unlikely that female Hrothgar will get updates that male Hrothgar don't, but the chances that Viera updates will continue to be a few patches ahead of Hrothgar updates (both genders) feels inevitable. I will continue to hope that this won't be the case until we know better, but I anticipate if this is in the works then JP fanfest will probably go something like "headgear for Viera and Hrothgar!" with a few picture examples of Viera and YoshiP mentioning that the same work is in development for Hrothgar for a later patch.

Hrothgar are still oddities hairstyle-wise – going from some discussion I read here when Hrothgar hairstyle-switching had just been implemented, they're still handled in the background as different faces/heads with integrated hairstyles, rather than the hairstyle as a separate thing added to the head later. That (I speculate) might mean that the thing that triggers the hairstyle to change when a hat is applied, may not have access to change the hair model as for other races because it's not actually a hairstyle at that programming level.

Oh that's true, I actually forgot about that so I didn't consider that.

I know that at some point they stopped cutting those ear holes into the Viera hairstyles like they used to, so hopefully they're also working on a better long-term solution for Hrothgar in conjunction with female Hrothgar then.

Good point. Another case where clearly extra work needs to be done on Hrothgar compared to Viera so we should expect them to continue staggering updates. They're probably making female Hrothgar without these problems the same way they made male Viera exempt from female Viera's limitations from the get-go, but we can probably expect simultaneous updates for both male and female Hrothgar regardless. Male Viera never pulled ahead of female Viera in that regard so it will probably be the same with this.

I like to believe since (apparently) Hroths were not meant to have hairstyles, they had to improvise with tape and band aids after continuous negative feedback and the 6.1 ear fiasco, but will eventually work around it properly, if they aren't already while working on female Hroths

Just found out that the Variant reward gear doesn't work on Viera, we're back to the days when SE releases rewards not every player can use again.
Don't think they listened at all to this entire 2700+ post thread of feedback at all. Just wait for Dawntrail when Viera can use exactly 6 out of the 20+ job gears' headgear and 1 dungeon's gear has a usable hat.
Or, they decide to give Viera a bunch of ridiculous looking tiny hats to continue being lazy about not fixing the issues with the race. I'm so glad they did that with the fall guys hats and now they have a creative way to be lazy and avoid fixing anything that a mod can in a few hours.

This whole hat thing reminds me of Blizzard not updating Blood Elf models all throughout Warlords of Draenor until the very last patch, while every other old model was updated. However, Blizzard eventually did update them the expansion they announced it, but for Viera and Hrothgars to get hats of all things has been how many years at this point?

It doesn't make any sense as to why they cant do it, other than that they don't care enough. Seems like they will go through a period like Blizzard did/is, in which they think they can do whatever, and just say "we'll fix/finish it later" or just straight up having unfulfilled promises.

I would like to suggest to reconsider the idea of miniature sized models for Viera heads when designing crowns.
They can tuck the ears through and have standard sized crowns.

Ironically I think it looks far better the way it is and I would be disappointed to have it changed. The micro crown is cute and silly exactly the way something from a meme colab like Fall Guys should be. I've seen a few requests for the other races to have the small version as well so I would guess I am not alone in this opinion.

The shrunken pink hat does look dreadful on Viera but with the shape I'm not sure it ever could have looked halfway decent even at full size with the ears clipping through the top.

This would be nice, the tiny hats are something that just looks plain silly on my character, and I'd like to have a non-joke hat. If they continue to just make these hats tiny for Viera to waear them I'm going to be upset about it. These look so stupid, especially on male characters.

I would've liked the crown better if it were crooked and looped around one ear.

Sadly, probably didn't give it to you in such an inspired way cause of the folded ears would get in the way.

Unfortunate that this game, we would have to fight for many things like having Variable positioning of items. (which we could allow SE to implement at their discretion, long as they are held to check all items for the option. But it's one of those have it, or do not. But it would push them to Reimplement Racial Features in Gear even more. So races with tails or ears could have them through the headgear or pants. or have the cover/hide option if the player chooses to do so for whatever reason.)

Also This headpiece used to be one of my favourites and for some reason for Viera they have placed it all the way down the face so it's more like a mask than a headdress. Also annoying because the horns are where the horn on the Midan piece should be...but isn't

I still don't understand why the False Monarchy helmet appears on Viera, but this one doesn't. Very disappointed.

I mean it is my own fault for not checking if it worked and I still wouldve gone for it for the other (really badly dyed) pieces but still.
IT BAFFLES ME that they keep making rare items not work for viera/hrothgar. Like at least make something limited like that wearable by all.

From what I can tell, this is "quality control" since I can't see it with hat hair. Probably due to the shape around the top they opted out of it, with how the clipping would look.

We got like 3 different versions of the crown, it's a shame they didn't make one of them at a jaunty angle like the Little Ladies crown.

As a boring human that this will not affect I stand in solidarity with you. SE is a joke of a company in this one issue. I'd be fine if it was a backlog thing, but they keep making new things that they can't use. This goes beyond incompetence and becomes neglect. Multiple billion dollar company, btw.

We are 4+ years into Viera and Hrothgar being available as a race and new headpiece items, both in terms of in-game via events (etc) and out-of-game via MogStation, come out that are unable to be used with Viera and Hrothgar... and that is truly insane. There are 0 excuses for this to be the case.

Its absolute laziness from SE. An easy fix is to START NOW. Any new hats or headgear, make it so we can use them. We do not care at this point if you just let our ears clip through.... its an insult to us who have remained loyal and paying customers.

It's completely wild how there is a 280+ page thread on here asking for a change that is already possible through mods, and SE both refuses to do anything about it, and refuses to address it at all.
Do they think we're stupid or we're going to just forget about it? Is the feedback from the officials just going in a trash can and not being relayed up the chain?

It's every single patch they keep making rewards and new gear that specifica races can't use, and the only proposed solution is to pay money to get off the broken race.
Or , the option is to risk your account and use mods that fix things that should have already been done by the developers.

It's unreal how little SE cares about this and how long they've put this off while doing a full graphical overhaul of all the old gear, areas, and other races except the one that actually needs broken portions fixed.

There's a twitch community stream today with Community Reps from SE, so go ahead and voice your issues there if you want to have the community team see why you're upset about not being able to use the holiday event's rewards.
Clearly something's breaking down here, either the community team is not reading feedback or the forums, not kicking things up the chain of command to people who can have this fixed, or they really don't consider it an issue worth fixing.
