Fencer! with dual rapiers XD or Sky pirate.... with rapiers!
Any balanced FF classes at this point would be fine with me. What I DON'T want though is watered down BLM with a bit of everything in it.
I want my BLMs extra black and physically helpless thank you very much.
I think it's a shame to see so many people just want this to be FFXI-2 with the classes, personally I like the suggestions for some more unique ideas and ideas from FF games which were only in tactics etc.
I don't believe wanting jobs translates to us wanting a FFXI-2. Jobs exist in alot of the final fantasy series, not just 11. its familiar and feels like final fantasy is all. Also they are awesome!
but anyways i would like
SAMURAI
summoner
Dragoon
Bard
Dancer
Mystic Knight
Red Mage
Blue Mage
Corsair (or something gamble related)
Ninja
Theif
Sage.
Didn't say I was against quintessential classes :) but some people are describing them to be exactly like they appeared in XI or just reeming of lists of XI classes. I mean, Paladin? Isn't that already what Gladiator is if you level a mage job and get cure spells? (Haven't leveled it myself so not 100% sure but it seems that way to me) I dunno, I played XI, enjoyed it, want something different now. Love the suggestion for Berserker myself :D Could be an advanced PUG class. I like the idea of class branches.
@JRChronicle You may have mis-read what I said, I didn't say anything about 'wanting jobs means people want FFXI-2' (Heck I said I like the idea of more jobs) I meant 'Some people want the classes to be exactly like they were in XI'.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see some new stuff but they need to add things like smn (etc) to give the final fantasy feel back. I do admittedly miss my jobs from 11 but I don't want carbon copies. I want them back, but better, more thought out and more signature then what we have now.
For me, my dream would be for them to include advance jobs unlocked like tactics and even have jobs we have now branching off into other versions of itself. Such as pug taking on difference "styles" of fighting.
An oriental class that uses katanas and great katanas.
Archer can use crossbows, which gives them a free hand for a shield.
Two-Handed greatswords for gladiator.
A pet job of some kind. Way ffxiv works, looks like atm only way to incorporate pet job is to have prime skill a melee or ranged attack, and summoning the pet is a learnable skill, and the pet just auto-attacks whatever you use your prime skill against, each time you use it. The pet will only respond to learned skills and the master's prime skill, so using another class's prime skill with the pet won't make the pet do anything.
PALADIN !!!!!
I'd like to hear word on if Arianist and Musketeer are still coming, Limsa is lacking because those guilds aren't playable.
I think they should come up with something unique and lore-driven
You know with yoshi-p stating that traditional FF jobs are on the way with when and how they are implemented still up in the air, I wonder what will come of the two classes you mentioned. Are they going to be advanced jobs like many speculate the traditional jobs will be, or just 2 new "basic classes" like what we have now?
Throwing my <3 for NIN, MNK, and THF. Just so long as NIN isn't utsesemi whore NIN from XI.
I think class is the wrong word to use.
We have Disciplines which focus on mastery of a weapon type, and it sounds like we are getting Jobs which would be a role you fulfill.
Based on this approach what Disciplines should be added and which Jobs should be added and what does their relationship look like.?
Definitely! I would really love that kind of system. I don't really want my pug to suddenly be changed to monk, but rather if pug was the 'base' class then say at level 50 or whatever you can do a quest to unlock an advanced/specialist version like Monk, Berserker etc I think that'd be really fun and cool.
I can't wait to see how the actually plan to implement the new job system. Looking forward to the future!!
I don't think anyone would say no to an FFT style job system. I'm actually hopeful that's what they're going for considering that's closest to what the game has now, just better.
As far as what classes I want, I'd like Samurai or a REAL Paladin. I loved Samurai in FFT, and for Paladin I really hope they kind of go for a "Holy Knight" feel, using Holy Sword abilities. Paladins were cool in FFXI, but the only reason they were paladins is because they healed themselves + tanked. I never really got the "holy knight" feel from them. Same with Dark Knight, they were just DD's with light DD spells and debuff spells. I didn't feel like they were the dangerous "don't mess with, I'm evil" types
I hope they redesign arcanist, as of now its supposed to be a totem wielding class like WoW :[ But that was from back in the Tanaka days so who knows, phew, maybe not. Maybe we're safe.
This is my PERSONAL OPINION, don't kill me guys... but I think gatherers and crafters shouldn't have been official classes to begin with. I think the fighter and sorcerer categories are fine, but gathering and crafting should be left as an option to anyone carrying a corresponding tool on them, and they shouldn't have to actually change to that class to perform the action.
Then, the skill level of each type of gathering/crafting can still be displayed in your status window, or on the Lodestone or whatever, that doesn't have to go away.
edit: the reason I quoted you is because I was wanting to say that we don't need additional Disciplines. With the current four, we pretty much have all grounds covered. And then I went on my spiel about the gatherer/crafter disciplines.
a lot of people think that the crafting and gathering is one of the systems they did pretty well, that said, they designed the game with all the crafters they would need, and one more gather for animal items. Supposedly they never intended to add more gatherers and crafters, and honestly what more could they add? they have just about everything covered.
far as being new classes, they were supposed to get some actual useful abilities, but that never came to fruition. Under the old exp system, they wouldnt have negatively effected sp, so bringing em to a party for 2 buffs and some stuns would have been fine. what they get out of it though, i dunno.
Classes I would like to see eh..? Well let's see.. I have a few basic ideas..
Sage: Fighting the enemies with the power of knowledge of the various substances and their effects on the organism.. he would be the best friend of an alchemist and botanist..
To attack he would use various concoctions to cause status ailments to enemies and area buffs to party.. (Much like Ninja used tools for their jutsu in FFXI..)
The weapon of choice would be the Aspergillum..
Assassin: Specialized in killing techniques to dispatch the enemy quickly.. dealing fatal blows after exposing their weak points..
Their weapons of choice would be the Wave Sword.. (Dual)
Thief: Subtle masters of thievery and pickpockets, their purpose would be of gaining access to items in possession of the enemy while catching them off guard..
They would have access to an array of techniques to facilitate escape and confuse the enemy such as the smoke bomb..
Their weapon of choice would be the Dirk.. (A light and slender thin bladed knife..)
Saint: They exact justice acting under divine command of the gods.. cursing the enemy with sacred magic and wielding a scythe to reap the impure souls..
Their weapon of choice would be the Combat Scythe..
Barbarian: With their heavy clubs these fierce warriors are specialized into crushing the enemy with raging strength.. augmenting their power through anger built up by being hit by the enemy.. their attack would rise as their HP lowers..
Their weapon of choice would be the Two-handed Heavy Club..
Samurai: Warriors who live by the sword with discipline and honour, they focus on attacking the enemy even if they've been defeated with a "final attack" skill..
Their weapon of choice would be the Katana.. (Two-handed)
Monk: Skilled martialists from the lands of the far east.. they live by discipline and constantly seeking ways to enhance their abilities.. they have skills that allow them to raise the speed and potency of their attacks..
Their weapon of choice would be the Nunchaku..
Ninja: Deadly killers who act with the favour of the night while they're hardly detectable.. their specialty is to confuse their enemies with an array of secret techinques and then slay them in helplessness..
Their weapon of choice would be the Ninja Sword.. (A shorter and straight bladed katana.. single handed)
Dancer: With their abilities Dancers enchant the enemies leading them in a trance while entertaining the rest of the party with dances of amusement granting them various bonuses..
Their weapon of choice would be the Tambourine.. (Dual)
Swordmaster: Able to skilfully wield the majority of swords with little to no effort.. dealing barrages of fast attacks to the enemies with one for each hand..
Their weapons of choice would be Dual Swords..

What really got my attention was on Page 18 it was Brightshadow's post. I really think DoB has a real good chance of happening seeing how most of the posts in this thread were wanting Pet classes. This is one way to go about it.
Should of been like 600 people want rdm, and wtf at 13 on drk (unless you guys were drks), most people hated drk ; ; (my boyfriend's ranting about how he never got an invite on drk for years haha in the background). I'm glad 31 people are exactly like the 600 billion people I hated in XI, everyone and there mom effing level up sam, (i should of got my mom to level sam, I should of got my mom to play XI ; ; ) It was a such a bandwagon, I get it the job is great, its beyond great, but sometimes there is just too many of one job.
There was a lot more disscusion in this thread than people just stating what jobs they would like see be put in this game. That made me very happy. Lots of people came up with their own unique classes. I hope the dev's at SE are the same and can come up with completely new jobs to wow us all over with. still hoping for some type of summoner though.
If I remember right before the game was released there was talk that DoL and DoH we're going to actually be a part of battle groups. I wonder if this could also factor into the jobs.
I'd like different classes with maybe som additional classes from FFXI. I heard Fencer was found while .dat mining before so I would love that class as a Dual Wielding swordsmen type. Also it be cool having FF Tactics job classes
Fencers only have one rapier (sword) traditionally, a parry knife sub would be cool (like spanish sword deuling not sure what its called). I'm imagining one western expansion and one eastern expansion of classes eventually down the road.
So here's my ultimate summary of what I would LOVE to see in FFXIV regarding jobs:
Starting jobs:
6 traditional jobs from FF1
Warrior
Thief
Monk
White Mage
Black Mage
Red Mage
Traditional Unlockable Jobs:
Other jobs included in games like FF3, FF5, and FFTactics (PS version).
NEW Unlockable Jobs:
In addition to all of the traditional jobs, they can include some new types, either the ones that were released in games like FF Tactics Advance games, or some of the current class lineup that FFXIV has, or other new jobs (corsair was an awesome idea from FFXI), as well as never before seen jobs.
It would be neat to have all the traditional stuff AS WELL AS a bunch of new stuff to keep things interesting. I just don't like the fact that all the traditional jobs were completely abandoned.
SE please stay away from adding any NEW CLASSES untill their is content and after all the Battle changes. The only reason people want new classes is because their is not a lot to do in the game. Some may want their favorite class/classes to get in the game but wait. I loved Blue Mage and would love to see it in the game but i want it to be their after all the fixes and remodeling of the game.
So Dear SE please wait till after all the fixes.
On a side note if SE hasn't implamented Travel, end game and a mailbox system. Adding new classes is at the very end of what they will do untill they remodel the game.
It would be nice to see a lot of the jobs that were mentioned but as of now not going to happen. Did you guys miss wheir they mentioned remodeling of the game then adding new jobs will come way after and before jobs will be content so i say we have atleast another year for new jobs.
Shamless bump.

召喚士です!![/SIZE]......
Classes I would like to see added, or adjusted.
Dragoon, with Wyvern!
Summoner
Beastmaster
Ninja
Thief!
People seem to love pet classes, I hope the developers listen to that :)
Ninja and Thief are both my person preference, dual wielding and quick attacks really makes me happy.
