For "avid PvPers" out there, PvP is a outlet of player skill and character development. What ever stage PvP lands on, its a result of player progression and I believe it's only endgame not tied into anything else. As like in FFVI, the colosseum was nothing but a side story and activity to get new items. You didn't fight other humans either, you fought monsters.

I'm biased? If anything you are the one being biased right now. I'm just stating that two different types of character progression should be available since it's two completely different genres in the game. I'm not the person being completely stuck-up about how fervently I don't want it to be there for petty reasons.

First of all, what is someone that supposedly isn't an avid PvPer writing about the reasons why they PvP? What about people that want to PvP but aren't that great at endgame? Believe it or not, there are people that prefer to PvP for longer periods of time than they PvE. Should this make it so that if I were to PvP someone in my LS that enjoys PvP a lot but hasn't gotten a relic, I'm going to wreck them for reasons such as that? These types of "results" cause for a boring and broken PvP system when the PvE portion of the game is completely separate from PvP unlike games such as aion.

Then again, I'm talking to someone that wants to secure his point on MMO pvp with a reference to a single player game. Either way, SE already said there was going to be PvP gear.

P.S.- This isn't 2010 anymore. Yoshida isn't following Tanaka's position of the game. He doesn't want to ostracize PvP, he instead wants to make it a bigger portion because he isn't targeting the same players as Tanaka was.

Oh, sorry I got confused because he called me biased a few posts before that lol. But yeah, he's biased too by the fact he loves PvP.

I never touch PVP in any MMO I play, don't think this will be any different.

It's 100% true that I love PvP, doesn't change the fact that I love PvE as well. Hence why I went as far as getting a relic. I wouldn't be playing the current XIV if I didn't love PvE. I wouldn't have even touched XI if that were true.

Like the other Mijin, I like PvE. However I like PvP as well, and since I've seen both sides of it, I know that SE would be making the wrong choice to not attempt at making a good PvP since there is a huge market on that side. It doesn't have to affect PvE, even though some think the TP change did just that. TP change made battles faster, which is a major topic towards those that dislike the game. Yes, it did improve the aspect of PvP by a greater scale, but ignoring the second part of it is fatal.

I honestly don't think SE is going to take the route WoW took, because they've already stated that there will be a "Release of PvP-specific abilities, gear, and ranking."

I apologize for misunderstanding how you stand on the issue. I do hope SE make PvP a good part of the MMO but I still think it should be offset from the main game. No holds-bar event with all that you have but isolated. Even cross-server events should be added.

*I just wonder how people(me as well) will receive ARR after the long wait. How will FFXIV 2.0: ARR stand against Guild Wars II?

Cross server stuff via content finder is already planned. PvP as it is currently planned is most similar to WoW's battlegrounds, and will most likely be objective based, not just a death match, and will be only conducted in special areas, not open world. All of this stuff has already been established and has been repeated multiple times in this thread.

Simple answer, probably not.

I am not a big fan of PVP and unless it offers a nice huge reward/rewards I have no desire to get involved.

I've never been a fan of PvP, I think that it's good to have for people who do enjoy it, but I personally don't plan on touching it much...

I'll do PvP if my shell is interested in it, otherwise I'll probably just keep myself busy with all the PvE stuff lol.
